This was super easy to follow. My only issues were user issues. I misjudged my depth on the sides when prying so there’s a scratch on my lcd. I touched the lcd at the top on accident. After getting everything reconnected, I forgot to make sure the home button ribbon was flush so the bottom corner wouldn’t close all the way. I redid the steps and had to restart the iPad. It’s working perfectly now

I was 95% done, already glueing up a new glass and... it didn't fit well. That rectangular metal thing near the button didn't sit in the right place and I started removing glass carefully to check what's wrong. But it got cured pretty well already and... cracked. I'm extremely angry. Ordering a new glass now. To be clear, I'm not blaming you. Your video is great. Just wanted to share my pain.
No matter what i do i cannot get the home.button shield aligned, i had the same problem.with an ipad air 2, i tried for 2 hours straight. Any tips? It looks like its aligned but it doesnt click.

Had the a technician replace the screen on this model but now it won’t charge and has discharged completely since the repair over the past few days. What would cause this? There’s a little screw that holds down the battery, unscrew and lift the board so it makes disconnect and wait a sec and rescrew, that 80% works for the kinda problem you’re describing
I changed mine and it all was well for a day and now the screen doesn’t turn on🧐 I can hear the sound when I plug in the cord but no display. Disassembled again and reassembled but still no picture
After watching your video I replaced my sons screen and followed your video step by step but noticed when I put it all back together the number 1 didn’t work when putting in password so took it apart and check all connections and tried again and now number 1 works but number 4 is hit and miss any advice what am doing wrong thanks

If the penny is covering the the camera to protect from heat, I would be careful with a penny. It looks like a Zn penny, (post 1982) but an earlier Cu might be a problem, Cu is very good conductor of heat. Zn still does conduct, so still be careful.

im trying to replace the screen on my ipad 6 but the power button wont work even long pressing it the volume buttons work but the power button wont help
I did the repair and went well. Tested great and home button clicked properly. Then I removed adhesive, home button it came slightly loose and I reattached. I retested home and now no click and doesn’t seem like it’s sitting all the way through. I keep trying to lightly adjust it and retest but no dice even though the dots align. Any other tips?
Great job on getting it done. Can you please look at the back of the ipad home button theres a black dote and make sure it lines up with the silver dot on. Review at 5:10 in the video
@@fixitwireless. hey thanks so much for responding. Yeah I checked and lined it up many times. It would click if I held it there and pressed against it. But when I put everything in place the home button seems to sink inwards and I loose that. I even secured the plate over the home button with double-stick and glue like you showed. I don’t know if there was a small lip around the actual button that I lost when replacing glass or something that would help secure it or or why it slips inward.
I’m here to help :). Please visit my channel I have another video that’s doing the same repair on ipad 8 iPad. I spend more time explaining the ring around the home button. Check out 1:28 and 4:44. Check if your iPad screen had that ring or you’d have to have it from the other screen. If you can’t find it, what I do is replicate it on the screen with thin double side tap you see me using. Let me know how it goes !

I found out my husband had device coverage on our ATT plan so I just sent it in and they ended up fixing it (the screen I used had spotty responsiveness too) so this saved some time and money - fixing not only the button but giving me a fresh screen. But yeah otherwise I would have done this and I'm sure it would have fixed the issue. Anyway thanks again, very good & helpful info!
Anyone have any issues with the screen only 2/3 working? Like the very top part by the camera works for like a quarter of an inch, then about 3 in of nothing, then the bottom works? Any idea how to fix this?

If the lcd was broken there could most likely be weird colors or lines on the screen. If there are just cracks on the outer part of the screen then its the screen glass.
You tell us to remove the battery cover screw but not to prize the battery away. I only spotted that you had done this later in the video. I wonder how many people blew their iPads because of this ?

At 7:17 what "cables" were you speaking of that you said to cut because you don't need them anymore???
At 2:22 I cut the old digitizer cables to get the screen out the way while I work on get the lcd removed.

if you heat up the glue more won't the glass come off easier and not in a bunch of broken pieces?

The apple pencil should work fine.
Question, is the touch screen part of the screen you are replacing or is it some other part?
The glass and the Touch screen function are fused together to make a digitizer.

The back bracket isn't set properly. Must open and aline the home bottom please look at 5:10 in the video

iPad 5th gen and Air 1 use the same screen, But the 5th and 6th gen iPads do not use the same screen.

disconnecting the battery was not well explained. remving lcd connector without removing battery caused spark and lcd would not turn on anymore.
