    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Maggie (Cameron Diaz) reads an inspiring poem to the blind professor (Norman Lloyd).
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Curtis Hanson's adaptation of Jennifer Weiner's novel In Her Shoes stars Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz as a pair of very close but very different sisters. Free-wheeling irresponsible Maggie Feller (Diaz) gets through her life thanks to her remarkable looks and her lack of scruples. She constantly goes to her straight-laced, plain-Jane successful lawyer sister Rose (Collette) for financial help. The two sisters have been very close to each other in part because their troubled mother died when they were girls. Right about the same time that Maggie discovers hidden letters that reveal she and Rose have a grandmother, Maggie does something to betray Rose's trust. Maggie sets off for Florida to find the grandmother. A failed workplace romance forces Rose to rethink her career, a career that has been the center of her life. As Rose tentatively begins a new relationship and Maggie gets to know her grandmother (played by Shirley MacLaine), the two learn a dark family secret that helps smooth the path toward reconciliation.

Cameron breaks my heart struggling with dyslexia and I love the old man for guiding her..it's such a beautiful scene..This movie was way underrated for it's time..It hits hard in so many ways...it's def a sister movie.

My favorite part is the end of this scene. He tells Maggie that she is a smart girl and it makes her so happy and confident the rest of the day. It goes to show there’s few things more rewarding than building up other people and being generous with our love and support even if they seem unsalvageable. They are the ones who need someone to tell them they are worthwhile and special the most.

exactly. and she's never called smart before by anyone- she is usually complimented on her looks. him calling her a smart girl makes her so happy because she knows that it's from his heart.

Her character needed that ....especially after feeling so down...over and over again...the reinforcement is pure love.

For most of this movie, Maggie was surrounded by loads of guys who just wanted to get in her pants and couldn't care less about actually getting to know her. On top of that, she has dyslexia, and it seemed she kinda dumbed herself down because of all that. But this man being blind was unable to be distracted by her looks, and saw she was a lot smarter than she thought she was and helped her realize her self worth. At first, she felt too embarrassed to even read to him, but by the end of this scene, she was walking through a store with a huge grin on her face filled with confidence. I loved their interactions so much.

This clip cuts it off but when she finishes the man says “smart girl.” And was probably the first to call her that, and helped her to see herself that way, healing a lot of hurt from others in the past.

    美人だけどバカ、と言われるコンプレックスを克服する契機になる美しいシーン。
    盲目寝たきりの死の直前が、誰かに力を与える実りある日々になっていて、介護にも寝たきり生活にも絶望を感じさせない良い映画。

Love this film about these sister but I can imagine if Michelle Pfeiffer was given a role as a Rose Feller, instead of Toni Collette. Don't get me wrong, I love Toni but Michelle with Cameron Diaz would evenly match each other as a sibling roles since they kinda look alikes🥰
