I made cake pops many years ago and hated how hard it was to prop them up to dry. I love your take on them! I’m looking forward to trying again. The swirled marble is especially pretty.
Yes, I always had issues when they were the other way from trying to get them to dry evenly and not falling over, it was a disaster! And my first set i had the worst time trying to transport them for a birthday. I'm all about making it easy but still looking and tasting good and this way works great 🥰
This video came on time because I was planning on make it for my birthday! I loved the easy tips and I definitely would put the balls down rather than up! Thank you!🤗🥰
I find it so much faster and less stressful 🤣 I don't have to tap any excess off (thats when the balls would fall off the sticks) so this way works way better!
Is best to make sure they are smooth before dipping them they will hold on better and won't fall that easy also they need to be drip more less chocolate on the bottom. Love the marble technique
I sell my cake pops so I make a ton! I put the cake and frosting in my stand mixer and it’s sooo much easier that way, in my opinion. I’ve tried using my hands but it’s so messy to me
@@LittleCookieCo your tips about the chocolate were very helpful. I stopped using the colored wafers because they were too thick and cracked but I’ll try why you said ☺️
Yeah it took me a while to get the hang of melting them and I find adding a touch of shortening helps them from seizing up and also keeps them liquid for longer! I forgot to mention that part in the video.
That's a great idea, I will try that! I also think it's messy doing it by hand. Do you put the whole cake in the mixer or you have to crumble it first? Thanks for your tips 😊.
So you're not only the goddess of cookie decorating, you're now going to show off your cake pop game?!? ❤️❤️❤️❤️ If I may share my tricks on making a box cake really, really yummy.... Replace and double the oil with melted and cooled butter (not margarine), replace the water with milk, and an extra egg, add 1 cup of flour (I use cake flour), add 1 box of instant pudding mix (any flavor to compliment the cake), and add 1 tsp of vanilla or any other extract of your choice. Bake as directed and thank me later! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Thanks for showing off more of your endless talents! ❤️
Awww thank you but these are far from perfect 😁 but I still love making them and the kids love eating them hehe (and me too). Thank sounds really good, I'm going to definitely try that one day!! Thank you 🥰
@@LittleCookieCo thank you! The kids made them together, and my daughter loved the marble effect we did pink and white! My son did green and white. We bought little bags for them and placed them on the dessert table. Family was asking us to make more 😂
Have you tried to buy the Wilton Melting Pot I got to recommend you to buy it because I have one and I use it a lot to melt candy melts really fast and it's easy to use it
You should check out that Wilton Candy Melts Melting Pot you going to like it you don't have to worry about no more melting your candy melts at the microwave even getting those nasty burns from your candy melts the Wilton candy melt melting pots is better you can keep your candy melts hot or warm
You definitely can! I would just make sure that when you're ready to dip them you bring them back to room temperature..if they're too cold and the candy melts are warm, they may crack from the difference in temperature
This is definitely the cheapest and most basic way to do cake balls. I would recommend that people make a batch like this and then do a batch the same way, but with better quality ingredients. The taste difference will be substantial, no doubt. Those candy melts taste like chalk and are not even real chocolate.
I agree quality ingredients will taste better (even though I love the taste of these too) but I don't know how to temper real chocolate and so I've stayed away from it. I'll leave that to the pros.
@@LittleCookieCo You are a ninja with cookies, I have no doubt you could easily learn to temper chocolate. I am nowhere near your skill level, and learned it rather quickly. Glad to help if you want to learn, it will really up the flavor game on your treats. Just need an instant read thermometer and a double boiler. Also much healthier for your customers to not have so many hydrogenated oils. Someone like me cannot eat stuff like that at all due to a health condition. Anyway, great job either way, the pops look wonderful!
It's definitely on my list to learn one day! I almost did it before Christmas as the hot cocoa bombs became popular and I really wanted to give them a go and use real chocolate but I was already knee deep in cookies. And I realized I just couldn't take any more on (and really shouldn't buy more supplies and ingredients as I'm running out of room already 🤣). And thank you ♥️♥️
@@LittleCookieCo I need to learn to take your good advice in my own life. I often take on way too much and buy way too many supplies that I don’t have space for, lol... So yeah, I get it. And I made about 200 hot cocoa bombs over the holidays. It was a total disaster.😳😆🤪
Liquid color for the candy melts won't work as the candy melts are oil based and it may not work. You would need special oil based colors. Also whip cream wouldn't work as its not sticky.
Nice. I did a test batch today and they were an epic fail. I think mine were too big, they were falling off the stick when I dipped them in the chocolate.
This is the first video I have seen where they didn't refrigerate the cake pops. I refrigerate them for about 10 minutes after I form them into balls. Then again after putting the sticks in. Try that next time and they probably won't fall apart
I find they always look small at first but once you have the coating on them they look a decent size so I try not to make then too big. And I try to be as gentle as possible when dipping them. Hopefully it works out better for you next time!
If you're using a cake mix you can't really go wrong (unless you over bake or burn it!) Once everything is combined, let it mix for another minute or so nd you're good to go! Don't be scared, they're very forgiving!!
Try making the balls a smaller and be really really gentle when dipping and removing from the melts. If you get a deep enough bowl its easier because you can dip straight down and lift them straight up without moving them around. And make sure the stick is about 3/4 the way in the cake pop. I tried with my son before and it happened a lot too so I had to take over so you aren't thr only one 😁
@@LittleCookieCo ok thank you for the detailed response! We also tried dipping the stick in the chocolate prior to placing it into the pop, then refridge prior to dipping and still struggled 🤣 So we will try your advise! Thank you!
With cream cheese you'd have to refrigerate the cake pops after because it's dairy, so I wouldn't necessarily because you have to worry about that and make sure you keep them refrigerated.
You are too kind, thank you 🥰 1 box of cake mix (assuming they're the same size here as there) makes about 24 pops give or take ho small you make the balls! I think I've squeezed about 30 of the out before and they were a decent size after the were dipped. I would say a couple bags of candy melts, always better to have a little extra, especially because you need enough to be able to dip them and have the melts cover them. Once its a bit cooled, ill poor the leftover melts in a ziploc bag and keep them in the fridge until next time!
They might not be thick enough to hold up the cake ball, but you could always try! And if it doesn't work you can always drop them on some parchment paper and take the sticks out and just have them as cake balls
I usually box them up in an open box with baker paper or parchment paper on the bottom! Or you can individually wrap in small bags and tie around the stick like a lollipop!
I just do it by seconds im not sure what power its at. You don't have to add anything but you can add a bit of shortening. I find if I over what them a touch that will bring it back!
@@LittleCookieCo thank you for your reply! I found a video when that was mentioned but most videos don’t . I’m new to baking etc so don’t have common sense what comes to that 😂
You're welcome! And don't worry, everyone starts at the beginning and the best way to learn is to try and make mistakes! And never be scares to ask questions 🥰
Try making the balls smaller and make sure to dip your stick in the candy melts and then stick it into the ball. And give it a few minutes to harden! And don't wiggle your stick or cake pop, just straight in and out gently as much as possible!! Good luck!

It will harden at room temperature!
Can you freeze the cake pops and if so, for how long?

Liquid color for the candy melts won't work as the candy melts are oil based and it may not work. You would need special oil based colors. Also whip cream wouldn't work as its not sticky.

helo. Can i ask if there is an alternative ingredient for crumb frosting??
Some people put the hot cake in a mixer and just mix the cake and it sticks together because of the steam without the frosting!
These are great! How do you keep them from falling in the chocolate? 😃 That’s the challenge we have when my daughter and I make them!
Try making the balls a smaller and be really really gentle when dipping and removing from the melts. If you get a deep enough bowl its easier because you can dip straight down and lift them straight up without moving them around. And make sure the stick is about 3/4 the way in the cake pop. The secret is to take stick, dip into chocolate then into the balls and give them a chance to dry before dipping them completely
Can u add cream cheese instead of frosting

Its jsut frosting that's ready made in the store. You can use buttercream as well! Any frosting will work 😊

What surface you putting them on , mine got stuck and the bottom came off was it because it wasn’t dry yet or why?
I put them on a piece of parchment paper, that way they don't stick to anything. And always best to let them dry fully before you peel them off.

Everything works until its time to dip. They always fall apart in the candy melts and then the whole thing becomes a massive disaster.
