He are my 2 cents on a tweak to the deck. I did a few varation on allies trying to find a good brew (tinkered with red/black/white the most and worked well while fetch lanes were around) and I came to a conclusion that 4 Resolute Blade master was too many. I swapped two blademasters for two hero of goma fada. Its equally difficult to cast (which is another way of saying you will just waiting for 5 mana since ally encampment alone fixes the cost) and indistructibility is great for the lifelink swings to help bring everyone back. So if your going to have 4 creatures that high on the curve I suggest tinkering with the option. It worked reasonally well for me in my area, may be good one others as well.
Always happy to watch these budget deck techs this early in the format when no one really knows what they are playing. I might make this for Game Day and see how I do until I can get my actual deck ready for SCG Milwaukee! Keep everything going Wedge we all love you!
I feel like Hero of Goma Fada has a slot or two in this deck. Alternatively, cutting the Blademaster and throwing in Reckless Bushwhacker gives the deck some insane speed. Course with Bushwhacker a full playset of Bone Saw becomes a thing, which also allows you to trim a land away, and by trimming a Stoneforge Masterwork, Boom in goes 2 Stoneforge Acolyte, giving you another 1 drop rally enabler, and some psuedo card draw.
Thanks for the deck ideas handsome! Also I'm pretty sure there has to be some way to abuse sigil of the empty throne and helm of the gods using things like cryptolith rite and oath of gideon. Also there are plenty of enchantment ways to stall the board like pacifism, containment membrane, and silk wraps.
I built this deck on Friday but missed sign up times for fnm. so far the deck plays really well. stasis snare was too expensive at my location so I put in the nahiri I pulled at prerelease and a general tazri as well as the 2 stasis snare I did have. the deck is fun and fast and can hit for 26 lifelink with resolute blademaster on turn 5. good strategy is to spend turn 4 to equip artifact if possible.
I think it's really funny you did this deck tech, I've been toying with the idea of RW equipment for a week. I was considering making it more ally based but I made my list more with the equipment itself with stuff like avacynian missionaries + neglected heirloom, cause everyone needs a 7+7 first strike. or even.. captains claws + stormrider rig + impact tremors, you get a free token, can auto equip the rig to it, and shock your opponent for 1 with the tremors. there always needs to be more than one way to run a deck(also sword of the animist is good ramp for a deck like this)
Reckless Bushwacker is a nice flavor card to put in here. Ally that has Haste enabler plus +1/0 anthem. I cut a Blademaster and 2 of the Masterworks to make them fit but gives the deck even more speed.
Reckless Bushwhacker seems like a good addition in the deck, and it is an Ally that pumps your dudes while giving some haste. Seems like a decent choice. Though it does seem only great the turn it drops, a body is a body..
already had this deck ready for six weeks. but good idea tho to use firemantle mage's instead of goblin freerunners. another thing that I do is that I use reckless bushvackers instead of kor bladewhirl. I also replaced bone saw with skeleton keys last week :D
i like this deck, budget yet pretty powerful. other equipment you can consider are the true-faith censor and haunted cloak from SOI. Vigilance and +2/+1 most of the time might be relevant, while haste, trample and vigilance might be good as well.
Holy crap, play testing this thing so far is amazing. I replace two of the Resolute Blademasters with two Angelic Captains, and filled the land out with eight battlefield forge and needle spire. Turn 5 was an average scoop point for my opponents. Lol
I built almost similar deck earlier, but with Kor Ally centric creatures, kor ally flying 1/3. Pump it with red +3/1 trample, with resolute master triggered ability. easily around ten damage each turn. With captain claws generating kor ally each turn,it is a guaranteed double strike every turn. Flying creature is hard to block and 1/3 flying promised a strong defence against normal 2 damage burn spell.
I surprised not a mention of the hero of goma fada or the relief captain as options. Id maybe have one hero in the place of the resolute blademaster and one in the side with the 4th master
This is pretty much the deck that I just built. Only real difference is that I opted to put Relic Seeker in the deck. It does take away from the Ally synergy a bit, but it helps to get Captains Claws out in a pinch. If you can renown him that is...
+Madjas I found that getting the Seeker Renowned was super difficult, especially in a world with a TON of two drops in standard right now. I just couldn't make it work.
I built a tweaked version of this, but I threw in a playset of Munda and his Vanguards. Also tossed in a Nahiri and a playset of Haunted Cloak. tons of fun.
I've got a naya allies deck running veteran warleader, tajuru warcaller etc. Its more a token based strategy but ive been thinking of adding more equipment to it... Not sure though...
I have this, except I don't use the Blademaster or the Bladewhirl. I run x4 Goblin Freerunner and x2 Munda, Ambush Leader. The Freerunnner is often a 3/2 for 2 and with Masterwork equipped, it's a bomb. The top of my curve is x2 Hero of Goma Fada. Indestructible is a bomb keyword.
I would love to make Nahiri fit as I have pulled 2 of her from packs but can't figure out how she will fit into anything with the exception of some kind of delirium deck I have yet to see.
Thats is why you run more one and two drops leaving you open mana for the equipments. In my deck i am only running two sets of equipment. And for mine I have stoneforges in my deck since there is life gain in mine. And i am running more creatures. I have sets of the claws and stoneforgemaster works. I did have bone saws but, i took them out.
My deck hits hard even if I don't equip. The best thing to do in this deck. Is just drop the equipments and swing then if you don't have any allies just equip the claws and go to town just keep building up your strength until. You get more allies for those rally tiggers. Also on a sidenote bone saws help with surging in the reckless bushwaker to end games
Sigarda's Aid needs to put into this deck so that you can upgrade the equipment in the deck. For example, cutting the bone saws and masterworks and putting in slayers plate and brawlers plate.
i think i would try to put a "Sword of the Animist" and maybe a "Retreat to Emeria". thin out the deck with each attack feels good, and making each land(drop) an 1/1 ally or a field boost sounds good to me too. combine that and its just ridiculous
+Derpys Hoove problem of that is the mana curve and if your either up eldrazi decks or god forbid a control deck with thing in the ice your best chance is to kill your opponent by turn 5-6.

I've been playing a variation of this deck for months but never conisdered including Blademaster and Firemantle Mage in the Equipment deck (I had them in my Ally deck before but they didn't work too well) I have two Gideon AoZ, this would probably be a decent addition, right? what about excanging red with green? the main reason for this ist that the "resolate blademaster" doesn't stack (which make the "captain claw" trigger obsolete, if you play a regulary ally anyway), and override the "kor blademaster". and the 2nd attack with lifelink gets lost with smal blockers. if you go green instead, you could use the "Tajuru Warcaller" (rally +2/+2). but i have to admit, that the "weapons trainer" would be missing. for them you could use a "Sylvan Advocate" maybe... not that great, but great anyway. and of course you could abuse some of the new (broken) green cards like "Traverse the Ulvenwald", or maybe a "Second Harvest" for token (captain claws) ally trigger (warcaller stack)... well.... i guess not...
I like the idea, but I went on Eldrazi Ship :D I opened most of the cards just from draft's, and bought the rest. So far I'm okay how deck has shown to be semi-competitve more than just for fnm's that have about 20 people playing all different non-budget decks, but i feel that it sometnhing missing, maybe one more decent two mana colorless spell. +Zakading I object! While Hanweir Militia Captain is a great for card for some decks indeed, for this one, it isn't. It's not an ally, the tokens it spawns after transforming aren't either. Though the value of a */* creature for 2 mana is still great, I feel like there's nothing in this deck that I'd take out for it. It's the same problem with Avacyn's Mercenaries. Keeping them in only for the equipment transform is too weak of a contribution IMO. Besides, the one equipment I definitely would run with these is Neglected Heirloom, as it transforms if the equipped creature does. It's a great synergy on it's own, but doesn't really interact with the rest of the deck in any way.
first strike is too important for that, plus you have plenty enough equipment for the deck to function. if anything, i'd replace the resolute blademasters for them since they seem waaaay too expensive to cast
+Not bolas It seems a bit spendy for what it is. I would say Skeleton Key in sideboard could get your small creatures past your opponents big stuff, but Menace does that just as fine, but the key will get you fuel for the late game in the form of filtering.
would it be possible to get an soi black blue zombie deck tech just using soi? does not have to be budget. i am trying to make one but keep having issues in balancing milling, creatures, spells, etc etc
wouldent it be good to run 1-2 gideons? and cut 1-2 stoneforge masterwork and play reckless bushwacker? giving the team haste and a pump is really good in this kinda deck. Could laso consider to run 2-3 of the white 1 drop that can cohort and dig 4 cards deep for a equipment. Just y thoughts
This is a budget deck, otherwise Gideon would probably be in here as a 3 or 4 of. Bushwhacker isn't a bad idea, but the deck does have 5 drops, so it's not the most reliable card ever.
I tried this deck a day ago. Noticed a few things. (1) Chandra completely owns you. Declaration in Stone is pretty bad too. (2) Board wipes hurt, you're not likely to come back even if you're expecting it. (3) Don't like lantern scout, no amount of life is enough once they get to 6 mana, so much removal and board wipes out there. Playing off the top of your deck and you are done even at 100 life. (4) Replace lantern scout with Reckless Bushwhacker (x4). (5) Maybe titan strength over the stasis snare's. 3 mana is a little pricey and creatures aren't as much a problem. (6) Lastly, Stoneforge Masterwork is too slow, 4x bonesaw, cut the masterwork altogether, it's a win more. Bonesaw goes great with the bushwhacker. There are plenty of turn 4-5 wins, but your plan is pretty easy to disrupt. There are awkward draws with too few creatures where you are just stone dead to 2-3 removal spells.
+ido m He said in a comment that he forgot to mention Gideon. If you chose to run avacyn I'd replace copies of blademaster, maybe to 2 of for both. That said it may not be a deck for avacyn since she wont offer triggers but she is a solid car and get work done either way. Flashing for indestructible is great but possible dealing 3 to all creates could mean your get the rest of your board eased and thus hurts the focus of the deck. That's just my few cents. Reckless Bushwaker is super dumb in this deck. I run a play set. It allows you to turn two, drop a bonesaw and surge him in for damage. Or turn 3 do the same but enable your Weapons Trainer with bonesaw or rally trigger Kor Bladwhirler because the bushwaker is also a ally. Super good.
i feel like the deck could maybe be improved by swapping out 1 snare for a pacifism and adding in 2 open the armory's. Since the equipment are all so cheap, you could grab whichever you need, and the pacifism could be grabbed if you need the removal.
Actually built this deck; except I only use stone havens, acolytes, weapon trainers, and kazuul's toll collector. No other allies seems useful for me and I replace them with more equipments and other combat tricks.
Gideon would make for a great upgrade to this deck. Budget wise though I think this deck needs Ondu Champions because being able to trample over damage towards your opponent(If they've got enough blockers for your team) not only makes for tough blocks from your opponent but also damage to your opponent no matter how they block.

I would cut 2 resolute blade master and 1 stone forge masterwork. Resolute is great, but too often you draw it when you really need a 3 drop. Stone forge is only good when the board is already heavily in your favor. I guess instead of cutting 2 resolute you could only cut 1 and cut 1 stasis snare if you prefer.
Threw in some Always Watching, 4 forges, 2 Spires, and won my FNM. It's quick, but without the Always Watching you're unable to compete in a neta with languish

There are some Ally adding instants that could go in place of a creature or two. A way to keep your opponent on his or her toes.

The deck works fine against almost all the decks in the meta, but there are 2 bad matchs, White Humans and decks with World Breaker, this card is a real headache.
2 Eldrazi Displacers. Rally triggers on demand, never reliant on casting one from hand. Have fun.

I've been playing a variation of this deck for months but never conisdered including Blademaster and Firemantle Mage in the Equipment deck (I had them in my Ally deck before but they didn't work too well)
I have two Gideon AoZ, this would probably be a decent addition, right?
What could or should I swap out for these?

what about excanging red with green?
the main reason for this ist that the "resolate blademaster" doesn't stack (which make the "captain claw" trigger obsolete, if you play a regulary ally anyway), and override the "kor blademaster". and the 2nd attack with lifelink gets lost with smal blockers.
if you go green instead, you could use the "Tajuru Warcaller" (rally +2/+2). but i have to admit, that the "weapons trainer" would be missing. for them you could use a "Sylvan Advocate" maybe... not that great, but great anyway.
and of course you could abuse some of the new (broken) green cards like "Traverse the Ulvenwald", or maybe a "Second Harvest" for token (captain claws) ally trigger (warcaller stack)...
well.... i guess not...

I opened most of the cards just from draft's, and bought the rest.
So far I'm okay how deck has shown to be semi-competitve more than just for fnm's that have about 20 people playing all different non-budget decks, but i feel that it sometnhing missing, maybe one more decent two mana colorless spell.
If you have any ideas please share them, all help is more than needed. :)

You know, running Hanweir Militia Captain and the white transformer that exiles could really be a good addition for this.
+Zakading I object! While Hanweir Militia Captain is a great for card for some decks indeed, for this one, it isn't. It's not an ally, the tokens it spawns after transforming aren't either. Though the value of a */* creature for 2 mana is still great, I feel like there's nothing in this deck that I'd take out for it.
It's the same problem with Avacyn's Mercenaries. Keeping them in only for the equipment transform is too weak of a contribution IMO. Besides, the one equipment I definitely would run with these is Neglected Heirloom, as it transforms if the equipped creature does. It's a great synergy on it's own, but doesn't really interact with the rest of the deck in any way.

first strike is too important for that, plus you have plenty enough equipment for the deck to function. if anything, i'd replace the resolute blademasters for them since they seem waaaay too expensive to cast

+Not bolas It seems a bit spendy for what it is. I would say Skeleton Key in sideboard could get your small creatures past your opponents big stuff, but Menace does that just as fine, but the key will get you fuel for the late game in the form of filtering.

wouldent it be good to run 1-2 gideons? and cut 1-2 stoneforge masterwork and play reckless bushwacker? giving the team haste and a pump is really good in this kinda deck. Could laso consider to run 2-3 of the white 1 drop that can cohort and dig 4 cards deep for a equipment. Just y thoughts
This is a budget deck, otherwise Gideon would probably be in here as a 3 or 4 of. Bushwhacker isn't a bad idea, but the deck does have 5 drops, so it's not the most reliable card ever.

If so, I'd like some stats or at least qualitative after-thoughts.
I tried this deck a day ago. Noticed a few things.
(1) Chandra completely owns you. Declaration in Stone is pretty bad too.
(2) Board wipes hurt, you're not likely to come back even if you're expecting it.
(3) Don't like lantern scout, no amount of life is enough once they get to 6 mana, so much removal and board wipes out there. Playing off the top of your deck and you are done even at 100 life.
(4) Replace lantern scout with Reckless Bushwhacker (x4).
(5) Maybe titan strength over the stasis snare's. 3 mana is a little pricey and creatures aren't as much a problem.
(6) Lastly, Stoneforge Masterwork is too slow, 4x bonesaw, cut the masterwork altogether, it's a win more. Bonesaw goes great with the bushwhacker.
There are plenty of turn 4-5 wins, but your plan is pretty easy to disrupt. There are awkward draws with too few creatures where you are just stone dead to 2-3 removal spells.

+ido m He said in a comment that he forgot to mention Gideon. If you chose to run avacyn I'd replace copies of blademaster, maybe to 2 of for both. That said it may not be a deck for avacyn since she wont offer triggers but she is a solid car and get work done either way. Flashing for indestructible is great but possible dealing 3 to all creates could mean your get the rest of your board eased and thus hurts the focus of the deck. That's just my few cents. Have a nice day.

Reckless Bushwaker is super dumb in this deck. I run a play set. It allows you to turn two, drop a bonesaw and surge him in for damage. Or turn 3 do the same but enable your Weapons Trainer with bonesaw or rally trigger Kor Bladwhirler because the bushwaker is also a ally. Super good.
i feel like the deck could maybe be improved by swapping out 1 snare for a pacifism and adding in 2 open the armory's. Since the equipment are all so cheap, you could grab whichever you need, and the pacifism could be grabbed if you need the removal.
Actually built this deck; except I only use stone havens, acolytes, weapon trainers, and kazuul's toll collector. No other allies seems useful for me and I replace them with more equipments and other combat tricks.
I'm just looking for a way to make investigation effective.

Gideon would make for a great upgrade to this deck. Budget wise though I think this deck needs Ondu Champions because being able to trample over damage towards your opponent(If they've got enough blockers for your team) not only makes for tough blocks from your opponent but also damage to your opponent no matter how they block.

what would I replace if I used Gideon in this deck?
I would cut 2 resolute blade master and 1 stone forge masterwork. Resolute is great, but too often you draw it when you really need a 3 drop. Stone forge is only good when the board is already heavily in your favor. I guess instead of cutting 2 resolute you could only cut 1 and cut 1 stasis snare if you prefer.
Threw in some Always Watching, 4 forges, 2 Spires, and won my FNM. It's quick, but without the Always Watching you're unable to compete in a neta with languish
No Gideon for the upgrades? I'm surprised considering the Rally triggers that guy can throw out.
