I've never once in my life been able to get a bass to even bite a swim bait. I use them to find bass. I throw a swim bait, get a follower, throw a tube or a jig, and catch the fish.
After this dude tested all of the brands of line like he did, eliminating the fanboy propensity toward certain brands of line. I’m down with his content for life.
As someone who has been bass fishing for less than a year, I can confidently say that you are TOO GOOD on your reaction times! You have such quick reactions that you were literally pulling the bait away from them before they even closed their mouths. I have also been bass fishing every day for that amount of time.
as a perch fisher from Sweden of course there is big differece in how we fish, but i can still take som of your metods and the way you go abut thinking how to brake down a lake with me. I fish more methodically ever since starting to view your channel. big thanks
These videos are very helpful. Also nice to see an angler not just flopping them all on the carpet too. Good to see that you care for the fish more than your own digestive tract.
I fish belews quite a bit, them spots are stubborn. Early morning dock topwater is key. I used choppo. My pb spot was a 3 on 40 foot of water, tied on a brush jig and drop it down 20 foot and fixed a sandwich, laid my rod down, the action of the boat set the hook. It impressed me how quickly you figured out the topwater. Took me way longer. Lol. Thanks for the lake series. My lake wow!!!
Best bass fishing series out there by far. Getting to hear what the strategy is, watching how it unfolds and seeing how you adjust is invaluable. Would love to see you take on a blue herring lake!
Great video. Nice to see an experienced fisherman with the best gear struggle like many of us weekend warriors limited to the bank and just one or two rods. I enjoy almost all your videos. Always something to learn.
Love this series, so glad u created. So much more about learning the mental game than just the lure of the month... if we learn the mental game by the decisions u are making, we get better quicker.
Tyler I think you are the only person who does videos like this, and videos like this are exactly what I'm looking for. I want to see/hear the thought process and the conditions and what your strategy as a pro angler is. The gear talks and gear reviews everyone else does are fun but this type of stuff is what I think is going to actually help me catch fish
@BassFishingHQ As a saltwater fisher my whole life, @25:00 you are talking the gospel. I've had days where I couldn't get black drum to hit a dead shrimp under a cork in a spot I know has a ton of fish. Then I started peeling the shrimp and immediately started landing some of the biggest black drum in my life. Same spot, same flat, same cast. Just peeled the shrimp. Fish can be that picky. Also, I've been growing ghost peppers for at least 12 years now and honey is how you put out the fire. Forget milk, bread, pasta... anything anyone suggests. Nothing works better than a finger of honey.
A man of conviction, yes sir, enjoy your vids for years your new format is just as helpful and entertaining, the Finn gloves and shirt I bought are just as professional as your content..thanks
Tyler, I just fished this lake today for my first time and did catch a limit and also missed quite a few bites. I fished the lower end and didn't go very far from the launch. We had strong storms last night and again this evening so I didn't get to fish very long but do like this lake as an option for weekday fishing. I probably wouldn't have fished it if I hadn't seen this video. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting the tough fishing days and looking at decisions that happened, decisions that should have happened sooner - and props on the hot wings.
I love this serie SOOOO much!! I was waiting for that kind of video for so long: a true day on the water looking for bass, with every steps and reflexions show/described. Thank you so much!!
I love this series tyler. One suggestion, is to make the title of the video to something like "fiding bass episode 7." When I clicked on the video, it had a similar opening to the one you posted a few days ago and I almost clicked off the video thinking I had already seen this video. Just an idea, keep up the great work.
I'm loving this lake break series! Really has a ton of good info you provide and could use to take on the water with me! Looking forward to more stay safe and good luck out there!
Thx for your honesty. A great day for sure. Maybe just a slight color change to that topwater or to the swimbait and fiddle around till u dial em in. Just a thought. No more fire wings. Bless be ya
After chasing trout for over 60 years in Montana, I was told by friends living near the middle Musselshell river (below Hungryhorse) that smallmouth bass were in the river. 2010 I think, so I went down to the river and actually saw a 2 pound smallie get caught in the river. Haven't caught a trout since then. Or fished another river. But, I've sure looked at the Yellowstone river at Pryor Creek. No one fishes it.
Thanks for the time and energy you put into these videos Tyler. Your videos made me a better fisherman and helped me to really start thinking how I approach fishing and trying to break down a lake I’m fishing. Hopefully it helps me in a couple weeks when I take on Kentucky lake.
Will be using as much of this info as I can when I hit lake Gaston in about 10 days. Gonna be using my drone and new Garmin to try and find some good spots. Only have a little Intex Mariner 4 modded up so I stay close to the shoreline. Just listening to how you describe what's going on and your commentary in the moment I think will help me get some photo worthy fish this trip!! Great video, keep them coming!
Nice breakdown, I'd have swapped to some more natural colors with that water clarity. The swimbait wasn't too bad but I'd have been very interested in seeing the results from a color change on the top water. Bone is always a staple but I think a more clear bodied lure might have induced a more eating response than a slapping response.
Yea me too! I get stuck on something when and if i would pick up another bait like a crank bait I might catch more fish lol! But i am pretty blessed I have caught big Bass that some people never catch in a life time!
This is probably one of my most fav videos. I like the style and the challenge of not reaching your goal doing something uncomfortable such as eating spicy wings. Do more of these with other super hot stuff to eat lmao.
This series is fun as hell. Would be interesting to see you do one that’s at a lake you’ve been to several times before, but not in awhile. Might make you balance past knowledge with having to figure out the current conditions.
Love it! Great content Ty!! I cant wait to get out on Indian Lake this year, back in the lily pads. How do you think the recent weed issue at Indian Lake will effect bass this year? with all the huge machines going through the lake to help take down the weed explosion.. might be a whole videos worth of info tbh lol
Great video and series. Belews is my home pond and is definitely one of a kind to in the way it fishes. The spots out there are just mean as all get out.
initially when you shifted to the jig back to the docks, try whipping a weedless tube or even a larger than normal ned rig and just light hops off the bottom and pauses back to the boat, that ususally does it for me in those situations
Absolutely one of the most enjoyable videos yet. Love this series. Have to admit though, eating the wings was the best! I don’t usually get a laugh out of fishing videos. Keep it up please.
Your fishing series is the best I’ve ever seen. Would love to see a video of how to identify structures etc with electronics for people who don’t have experience like myself. I’m not sure best settings, tricks and tips, etc and would love to learn more so I can better use my new hds live. Thanks!
If they were hitting the spook when you killed it, why not change to a prop style topwater like a spin rocket or something similar? Also ... Those wings were brutal! Dang dude!
This is actually great for me, it is tough to go fishing and catch nothing day after day when seeing all the videos of people smacking bass all day. Of course, it is all edited to only show that, but some days are just tough. Just starting bass fishing at 63 after fly fishing and living in Montana for many years, easy to get frustrated. Enjoy your stuff.
@shep -Keep plugging away and learning, man. Pay attention to the weather and time of day. You’ll learn a lot from the catch once they start happening. Good luck.
I was hard headed today with a willow bladed jig head with a paddle tail. It's a great lure, but fish are not in the mood right now lol. Switch over to a ned rig and started catching trout. Which is nice because we haven't had trout in that lake for a long time. DNR stocked it last year with 4000 of them.
Hmmmm, trout on a ned rig, you say? Interesting! I don't often get to fish waters that hold trout, but im'a definitely try to keep that in mind for when I do. Tnx!
I’m enjoying this series so far! I’m a fellow Ohioan who’s actually BEEN to Belews. Surprised you didn’t try skipping a wacky rig or dragging a dropshot past those dock posts. It probably would’ve been a dinkfest but then again my buddy was doing well with a wacky rig a couple weeks ago!
best advice, if you dont know where to go, dont go anywhere. Running a 2stroke with a jet, I hate burning fuel so I sometimes just kick the troller out and go from the launch. caught a lot of big fish within a 100 yards of the launch.
Did I miss the answer to your title? Told you what? Running and gunning? Thanks for the content. Ok, re-watched, you made a bunch of points. The thought process you use is nice. Constantly evaluating your bait choice and presentation is key.

I thought it was going to be how you re-rigged that swimbait! Good job though man all your videos are 💯
You don’t know how to set the hooks that is the problem take a course lol go to school hahaha

so grateful for this series tyler! as someone who’s out there without electronics it helps me learn a lot!
Thanks man! People seem to be liking it!
Same energy Bud.

Why dont you have any electronics? A sonar at bare minimum

Great video. Nice to see an experienced fisherman with the best gear struggle like many of us weekend warriors limited to the bank and just one or two rods. I enjoy almost all your videos. Always something to learn.
Dang that lake is CLEAR

Liking the new find bass, weight and time clock videos
The best bait I've come across for follow up casts is a 4" fluke
LOL “giving myself about another 10 minutes to be hard headed”. That was me all day today, I love it.
That's good to see and hear your plan and adjusting while fishing. Thanks. That was painful watching you eat the wings. Don't punish yourself.
Great video glad to see you fishing in my neck of the woods.

Your killing it with the vids man. You bring real, in-depth well thought out content . Makes me think about how l approach a lake.
This is when you downsize to the 5 inch magdraft. It's a smaller profile and they'll choke it. Great video!

Love the new "Lake Break" series! Wondering if we could get a special on bank fishing at a new lake?
Tyler, these videos are great, this represents how most of us regular guys fish ...... 😊
This was very informative seeing you collect and process info and make changes

Also ... Those wings were brutal! Dang dude!
I’d be drop shotting those docks like crazy after seeing those follows. But I am a dropshot addict.
I always drop shot before leaving even a skunked area. Just to mop up. Then I know.
This was awesome, I learned a lot. Please do more of these,
“If that one had gotten off i wouldve told you it was a 5 pounder” 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely love it
Glad to see you in NC! Love belews! Wish I would’ve known u were out there
Love this series! Especially because I live in NC. I hope you fished High Rock Lake while you were here!
