    What about vacuum bags for sweaters? Is that useful?

    • @gentlemansgazette
      @gentlemansgazette  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Vacuum-sealable bags are nice for maximizing space, but it's generally better for your garments to be stored in a container that's breathable. Further, you'll have less wrinkling if you don't vacuum-seal. Thanks for watching!

    Preston, if that is your closet, i must say i envy you. That looks like the kind of closet I would like to have. Great video! The information against plastic containers educated me. Is there a certain type, name brand, or quality of the breathable storage containers that we should look for when purchasing them?
    Raphael, i must say you picked a wonderful, caring and intellectual gentleman when you hired Preston. Yes, i am the same one who did not like the idea of him being there, however I took your advice and took a look at myself and thought if i want to be a gentleman, i must be acting and thinking like one. Thank you very much.

    Where do I store my overcoats if I may ask, because I have my overcoats in a vinyl Garment Bag and I’m not sure if that’s useful.

    • @gentlemansgazette
      @gentlemansgazette  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Vinyl garment bags aren't often breathable; as we illustrate in the video, folding your overcoats and placing them in the bottom of a breathable cotton container would be an ideal method of storage. Thanks for your question!

    You guys do a great job!
    Question - early in the video you have guidance against plastic containers and show a box of Ziplock bags but near the end of the video you mention that "vacuum sealable storage bags can come in handy". The ones I have are made by the Ziplock folks so are these an exception? Also, I have a down jacket - can this be compressed for storage or should it be stored expanded; I seem to recall that was the instructions for down sleeping bags. Thanks so much.

    • @raulsaavedra709
      @raulsaavedra709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing a little investigation found out that one looks kind of an urbanized version of the classical M65 "field jacket" from the US military, Vietnam era. So it should be a so called "field jacket" then.

    • @the_absurd_hero
      @the_absurd_hero 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Transitional jackets tend to have a medium weight-neither too light nor too heavy. They’re just the right type for wearing as warm days give way to cool nights during spring and autumn. They’re also good for sudden but mild rains throughout the seasons.
      Anoraks and some heavier sweaters are usually a good place to start.

    Hey Sven, bought an Isaia Napoli suit in Torino for 995 euros on sale from 2400 euros at an outlet store. Did I get a good deal or does Isaia make outlet specific suits that would never actually sell for 2400 euros? Also, do you know if the suit would be half/full canvas or fused?

    • @JeMappelleFrikandel
      @JeMappelleFrikandel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isaia is full canvas. Next time you should also consider buying used suits online or at a thrift store, will save you a lot of money.

    Wire Hangers is mostly what I use it saves closet space.Interesting concept to freeze items I would say that is the most surprising to answer question.Wonder how freezing would affect other fabrics?I have used the Thick Plastic Storage locker totes non see through type that does not let sunlight in to store clothing had no issues but will consider cloth bags along with that now, you did bring up a good point on too much clothes can let moisture in so I will remember that.The Tie as a belt feels strange id have to go with a thin fabric belt myself the Bowtie would be to much for me lol.
