There's plenty large a pool of cards and decks to play at any price point without needing to use fake cards that are totally toxic to the game and hobby.
Captain America and his shield might be the best synergy I've seen in a while lol I also really like the wolverine cards. I'm probably going to build decks of both.

I do like how they included some amazing cards for the build. Berserk will be great in Wolverine, because you can regenerate him so it doesn't kill him. Manamorphose in Storm will be amazing to storm with because it either helps enable your storming or it would be excellent to use her ability and storm for 10 mana and 5 cards drawn or whatever your storm count is.
Wolverine looks like a powerhouse to me, but I'll call it right now with Storm. Storm gives storm to cards that are not supposed to have storm. Broken. Unhinged shit is coming with Ororo. Bet on it. Get her. Get copies. Think about it. Storm gives storm to any instant or sorcery. This is not a tough one to go wild with. Cap and Tony look like they have potential, Ororo Munroe looks "WotC how did you print this? Did you test this at all?"

Imagine playing her and attacking. Then casting an extra combat spell with a storm count of 5 or something so you can keep attacking and giving storm to more spells, like say Berserk...

It's not getting people to play Magic though, it's getting people to play "Weiss Schwarz we have at home". Someone who gets into MTG through Marvel product contributes absolutely nothing to Magic as a whole - most of them are only playing at home with their own friends, and the rest aren't converting to standard or pioneer or pauper players, and they're not joining my no-UB pods, so for all intents and purposes these people may as well not exist.

I was expecting the Extra Life Secret Lair to have a massive printing until I saw this announcement. I think people are going to direct their money to this set... Also I'm actually surprised people aren't really upset by the combination of Mechanically Unique and Limited Print Run being put together on these.
I think they're more upset at the price of the Secret Lairs themselves than the other things you mentioned. We've kind of gotten used to them being limited release.

I got in line on my personal phone, work cell, and had my wife try as well. She grabbed the foil/non foil bundle. I want all 5, but the extras go to my play group. Anything leftover might be a cool collection piece. I buy cards to play them.
Money, money, money. That's what wizards and Hasbro have aimed these crossovers at. I just hope that new players that join because of these crossovers appreciate where MTG has come from and continue to enjoy this game we have grown up with and love😊
While the Arcane Signet is awesome, there was another that actually looked like the Infinity Gauntlet pretty recently. Might have been a Magicfest promo, and there were a few variants of it, and base copies of that art are like $5
I love the design of the storm card...that said, I hate that it's not on an in universe card and that it will be extremely expensive since these will be bought up by scalpers immediately. This secret lair should be print to order.
I like how Captain America is really just your average Boros commander with ability to play blue, though they didn't give you anything else with blue. I think a "Shield Counterstrike" as a counterspell of some kind would've really sold me on the blue in his identity. Edit: I know he's "Team America" and always expected Jeskai. I just wasn't sure his abilities would be exclusively Boros. Give us a shield counter when he enters to sell the blue even...
These face commanders will likely be different from their main set versions, which will be something like… Captain America, Avenging Stratagist Iron Man, Avenging Artificer Wolverine, Savage X-Man Black Panther, Avenging Spiritual Ally Storm, Elementally Fierce X-Man
Disagree heavily that these versions of these heros are going to remain mechanically unique. Between the backlash from the Walking Dead secret lair and the fact that the coming Marvel sets are the only time they can easily cash in on that reprint equity I'm expecting them to be reprinted.
I would hope so but the fact that they decided to print these knowing the previous backlash it makes me think they value the money more than potential backlash and are just prepared to push through

What's the benefit to not reprinting them?
I haven’t picked up a Secret Lair in years, and I’m not super into the Universes Beyond stuff, but this might be something I pick up as a big comic book fan. I got the Timy Wimy Doctor Who deck as a collectible, and I’m probably going to do the same with these for the same reason.
I made an Obeka deck and wanted to put the swords in it. I plan on getting proxies made od them as brass knuckles called "War amd Peace" or "Feast and Famine" Glad i wasnt thw only one with that kind of idea!
This will sell out in an hour and the scalpers will make a lot of money. I'm not a fan of marvel so I'm not interested, but I'm happy for each marvel fan who will be able to get a copy of their favorite superhero. Hope they add such good cards in future drops too.
Just got a Secret Lair survey to fill out the other day. I told them I'm not buying any more of them until they go back to print to demand (and remove the Commander ban list) You have a choice here everyone. Being a public company means they have to listen when you vote with your wallet.

Carnage being Rakdos would be dope, as it would be based around sacking creatures to increase his own power, like it is in Marvel Snap. Venom would probably be similar, but without the red.

They might be mechanically unique for now, but they're probably going to be released in the marvel set which could tank them as well

Carnage being Rakdos would be dope, as it would be based around sacking creatures to increase his own power, like it is in Marvel Snap. Venom would probably be similar, but without the red.
Can't wait for venom. I'm actually hoping venom becomes like a living weapon commander or a toxic commander would fit perfectly.
