  • Today we dive deep comparing two major brands in surface R/C - Arrma & Traxxas. On the surface, these two companies appear to be head-to-head competitors, but are they really? Let's find out.

      @@gabriellangford2730 Seems he's going for views with some of his weird titles lately. Maybe he is a Traxxas fanboy, but if so it's because he has such a great experience with his Traxxas models. I can really see why when watching his videos. He started his channel only making videos of him building and beating X-maxxes. He learned all of the weaknesses and solved them and then he launches those things 50ft in the air and they just don't break. He never was trying to convince anybody or anything like that when he started the channel. Then he gets his Arrma and has to replace every aluminum part with expensive upgraded aluminum parts, spending well over $1000 on a 1/8 6s model when he spent the same on a larger Traxxas 8s and enjoyed more. He then makes videos showing the Arrmas weaknesses and him fixing it, just like he did with the X-maxx for years, and all of a sudden he's a Traxxas fanboy. IDK, you decide, but I think Traxxas has truly earned his respect. Also his first ever favorite basher was a nitro HPI Savage.

    We should all be grateful that both exist. And Losi, and Axial, and... because each company pushes the competition to keep improving. My favourite buggy is my DBXL-E 2.0. Trophy Truck is the UDR. Basher, the Kraton EXB. Crawler, the TRX-6. On road, the Felony. We live in a great time for awesome RC’s. Stop bitching about which is better and just enjoy them.

      At last someone who truly understands the need for competition and not just trying to get rid of a company because the RCs that brand makes weren't quite right for them. Arrma deserves every fan they have, and Traxxas deserves every fan they have. Both companies have earned their name and the fans that come with it.

      This all ignores the crap that Traxxas has pulled in the past. They do work on improving their products, yes, but they also use their money for frivolous lawsuits, patent trolling, and all sorts of foul play that is technically legal, but still hurts competition. They don’t want to let their product stand on its own, they actively try to stifle innovation from other companies. It obviously isn’t 100% effective, but it has definitely caused a lot of problems.

    I've just gotten my first couple Arrma vehicles in the last 2 weeks. A Kraton 6S V5 BLX and a Big Rock V3. Both are awesome. Been out of the hobby for a while. I've been nursing along an old Helion Dominus 10TR. Replaced the motor pinion and spur gear with one from another vehicle that's an approximate fit since the original part can't be found anymore.
    The Arrmas are great. I did have a Traxxas 1/16 Summit VXL about 8-10 years ago. Was a pretty cool little RC. But I don't see going back to Traxxas unless it was something specific like that. The Summits are pretty cool. I just don't like how proprietary most of their things are. Battery compartments and connectors are very limiting. I tend to think of Traxxas as the iPhone of the RC world and Arrma as Android in a sense.

      Yeah I get how Traxxas are kind of limited to what can be used in a Traxxas and their parts and batteries are very expensive too. Where as Arrma are way more performance oriented. Traxxas are sort of political with the way the run Traxxas but they do have a huge range of spares. It's a bit like Apple versus Android isn't it. I don't like what Apple does either. The way Apple runs their company sucks. Android has so much more possibilities.

    • @Ilestun
      @Ilestun 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JimBoBJames-no5db Spare parts are MUCH MUCH MUCH more cheaper from traxxas than from arma.
      Arma 8s frame is well over $100, about 5 times more expensive than a Xmaxx/XRT one.
      Traxxas may be more expensive for initial purchase, but on the long run it is so much cheaper, not even mentionning it's more durable to begin with. You will bend countless Kraton 8s frames before breaking a Xmaxx one.
      Its actually quite the opposite.......parts and even upgrades are easier to get on traxxas RC's, although I agree the LiPo's are the exception.

      Day 12 slipper bearing exploded
      Day 13 rear axle broke + upgraded front axle snapped
      Day 15 another spur gear & now the motor is toast.
      Noticed rear differential is completely falling apart from the inside. New metal axles had scratches on the inside where it mounts to the rear differential. Completely dissatisfied and no different from an Amazon Chinese one when it comes down to reliability. Will see if it’s worth even going down this hobby. Day 2 slipper clutch burned
      (Paid 20 bucks got the upgraded ones and clutch rebuild kit)
      Day 4 pinion came loose and stripped the spur gear ⚙️
      Day 6 front axle broke (upgraded it to thicker plastic axles)

      Day 12 slipper bearing exploded
      Day 13 rear axle broke + upgraded front axle snapped
      Day 15 another spur gear & now the motor is toast.
      Noticed rear differential is completely falling apart from the inside. New metal axles had scratches on the inside where it mounts to the rear differential. Completely dissatisfied and no different from an Amazon Chinese one when it comes down to reliability. Will see if it’s worth even going down this hobby. Yeah the Hoss should've been the Stampede 2.0 for the same price. At $470 no one can justify it compared to the Big Rock at $320. If it was $380 like the Stampede that would be more comparable, since the Hoss has features that the Big Rock doesn't. Traxxas is out of touch with how fast Arrma has caught up lately.

I find Traxxas selection,features and options much more appealing to me than Arrma though I prefer 1/10 and smaller which Traxxas seem to focus on a little more. I love that traxxas has a lot of upgrade parts available as well as aftermarket parts. 10 people could have the same Traxxas vehicle and each one could be completely different. Unfortunately Arrma just doesn't have that same level of customization available, I would love to see some aftermarket wheels for my felony.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Regarding the wheels, the ARRMA Felony just runs standard 1/8th scale GT-class wheels and tires, which are identical in diameter and hub to 1/8th scale buggy wheels and tires. Anything that'll fit a 17mm hub with a 41.5mm tire width will fit the Felony. It doesn't necessarily have to be specifically made for the car - RC car wheels and tires are standardized just like full-size car wheels and tires.

    • @DirtSailor5
      @DirtSailor5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VestedUTuber felony has different front and rear gearing so it needs 2 different sized tires and you can't just grab 2 different sizes and hope it works. If would be easier to have bolt on pre paired tires so you you know they were designed to work together.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtSailor5
      That's not an issue. The ARRMA Felony has an overdriven front end, but the most it will do on aftermarket tires is make the car more tail-happy. IT WILL NOT DAMAGE THE CAR. There are even full-size cars with this setup - the Mercedes CLA 43 AMG has an overdriven front axle, same with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
      If you're still worried, you can just swap out the differentials. Replacing the front differential with the rear differential and putting a Typhon front or rear differential in the back will correct the gearing and allow you to run aftermarket wheels without the overdrive effect.

    • @DirtSailor5
      @DirtSailor5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VestedUTuber I'm not concerned about damaging the car, drive and performance is my biggest issue. There are plenty of options and work around, I love customizations and changes but I don't link the idea changing the core of the vehicle. The stance, offset and tire sizes were why I went with the felony over the infraction and I don't want to mess with the soul of the RC if that makes sense .

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtSailor5
      It won't change it that much. Differential tuning is common in RC racing and if anything, a differential swap would allow the car to drive as though it's stock while running aftermarket tires, whereas simply running aftermarket wheels and tires with the stock setup would make more of a difference due to the front overdrive.
      But if you just want to complain instead of solving the problem, be my guest.

I saw the Infraction videos and was able to get a V2. That Infraction actually satisfies my need for speed!!! No more speeding tickets :) I really like hiking at a reservation near my house and the Losi Lasernut was a great trail runner. I quickly realized that it's kind of fragile and is not at all a basher. So for bashing I was able to get a Typhon v5, which with some M2C upgrades is super tough and super capable at everything. It just needs the right tires for the task. For me Traxxas support had my TRX4 sport down for 2 weeks to replace an ESC. Losi support by comparison has been super responsive with all the Lasernut issues and has send out all parts that I needed immediately. The Arrma warranty really speaks for itself. So that's really long winded.... I'm glad to have found this hobby. I'm a car guy and I do track day events in my Camaro and my Shelby GLHS. This hobby has really filled the gap for me. Here's a great analogy traxxas is like the apple of RC cars it's simple and it just works and they're easy to fix and just get repaired because they're super popular but armor and Horizon and everything else is like Android it's way more powerful you can do a lot more with it but you need to know how to do it

      You do realize that the new apple iPhone's aren't Possible to repair without having expensive equipment So I don't see How "Apple and easy to repair" are related.. I personally run android because I find it better when it comes to programming or even downloading music/movies without paying for them Or even hacking games and such... you can definitely do far more using A Samsung

      @@fbiagent3399 Yee I'm also on android. I know iPhones aren't easy to fix but they aren't meant to be bashed either lol. What I meant was if anything is wrong you go to a apple store and get it fixed and same goes for Traxxas. You can go to any LHS and they'll know how to fix it and definitely carry the parts.

    It was Traxxas's affordable, heavily supported, neophyte friendly Rustler 4X4 VXL and TRX-4 Sport that won a trepidatious, electronics-challenged 62-year old man to this hobby two years ago. Since then, an Axial Capra, LOSI DB Pro, Axial Bomber, and most recently a Traxxas HOSS have been added. I would love to have a RC sailboat as well as the new Axial RYFT rock bouncer. But my property has neither a pond/lake to sail a boat or a steep, rock-strewn 20+ foot high hill to challenge a 1/10 scale 'Rock-Bouncer'. If I need to leave my property to enjoy a particular RC truck or RC genre; NEITHER is considered for purchase.

    I own both and enjoy both. But, my Arrma RCs are simply more durable. Last week I accidentally hit a metal bike rack that was cemented into the sidewalk with my Arrma Typhon 3S. It made the bike rack hum and vibrate like a big tuning fork! I had visions of total destruction but to my amazement nothing on it broke! I continued driving it and 3 battery packs later I went home. From past experience if I had hit that bike rack that hard with ANY of my Traxxas RCs there would have been broken parts all over the place!
