I was REALLY surprised that the video started right away. No intro, no talking, no unnecessary bullsht. In today's age, that is AMAZING. Top quality stuff.
Love how quick and no-nonsense this video is. Tier lists don't need to have an intro!
Often times I feel they do. I want to know what criteria is being considered in the ranking or any possible biases.
Yes! It's so smooth! Best chair video I've seen TH-cam, and by now, I've seen over a 100!
Glad you guys also loved the Embody -- I went through trying 10 different office chairs, a lot of them expensive, until also making the same conclusion that the Embody is the most comfortable chair for office or gaming use. Since switching to one right at the start of COVID, I no longer get any back pain. It's the only chair I've ever used that you can sit in for 12+ hours and feel completely fine the next day with no soreness or stiffness. S-Tier all the way.
Been enjoying all of the great vids that you all put out. I recently purchased the Embody and love it!
My advice for anyone trying to get a desktop chair is go to an actual store. I was about to buy online based on reviews but something told me to just go to the store instead. I found the experience much like going to get a mattress. It’s best to try for yourself before buying as every body has different needs. What’s comfy for others might be torture for you. I went to the store thinking I would get one chair and walked out with something completely different. You can always check online for the same chair you liked in person to see if you find a better deal. So glad i went.
This is what I did and I bought a HP omen gaming chair. For me it fits very well
Yup, agreed. I went to a Herman Miller seller and ended up really disliking the Embody, it was uncomfortable for me right from the spot. On the other hand, I thought the Mirra would be uncomfortable because of the more rigid back rest but I loved it, it was the best IMO, even better than the Aeron. I only wish I it was possible to test the chair for a full work hour day lol, but the limited test at a store is still better than buying solely based on internet reviews. This video is truly helpful though, I probably wouldn't even test the Mirra if they didn't rank it higher as they did, so I'm glad this video exists
I can't find a store nearby
Another solid tier list video guys. 👍
I don't think I've ever seen a gaming chair in the B tier before, but considering how the Mavix M9 looks absolutely nothing like a racing car seat, speaks volumes.
Its just a 1500 dollar office chair with a racing seat "skin" on it.
I’m so glad you guys shared your heights! As a 5’4 man it makes it easier for me to decided which one to get. Thank you for the review. I really need a chair cuz gaming lately has been hurting my back.
Just upgraded to an Embody from an Ikea Markus, and WOW, what a major improvement. Your reviews are straight to the point and well made, thank you!
Just bought my Leap V2 because of you guys. Thank you again, can't wait to get it! I work from home and spend 12-18 hours a day in my chair. I NEED THIS!
Hope you enjoy it! It is an awesome chair -Greg
12-18 hours.... bruh
How is it man? What are ur thoughts? Btw could u tell me whats ur height and weight please?
Absolutely top-notch overview!
I watched a lot of these videos and ended up going with the Embody last year. Finding the perfect chair for me was a difficult task! I'm 6'3, 215lbs and pretty wide lower body. Tried multiple chairs, and the Embody is hands down the best chair I've owned or sat in. It's the only seat wide enough, has decent seat depth (would like 1 more inch) and comfort is just off the charts. When I get up from this chair, it doesn't even feel like I've been sitting, whether it's been 1 hour or 8. The price is completely bonkers and cost more than my computer, but at the end of the day, invest in your health!
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for this awesome list. I'm leaning on the Haworth Fern. Is there a noticeable difference in comfort between the digital knit and the mesh? Is there enough breathability with the digital mesh? Does the mesh version provide high quality mesh or cheap quality?
As always, great stuff. I was really hoping to see the Steelcase Karman get discussed. I'm very curious about that chair.
Coming soon. I am sitting in it right now :) -Greg
The HAG Sofi is chair I sit in. The arm adjustments are quite innovative. I also unlock the seat for active movement. Keep up the good work guys.
This is the video i needed thank you
Great work, thank you
had herman miller aeron chair with headrest for 7 years and counting. great comfort for small built like me. lockable recline. mesh seats, for ventilation unlike foams seats/cushions that absorbs sweat for long periods of seating. so, comfort and hygiene is definitely an edge.
I’ve sat in foam chairs regularly for well over 10 years and have never had a problem with sweating. I definitely have not experienced so much sweat that it goes all the way through my clothes and into my chairs seat. If that’s happening to you, then I think there are different problems that need to be addressed than simply moving to a mesh seat. -Ryan
The Haworth fern digital knit, with lumbar support, has single-handedly eliminated my discomfort while siting for work. I have medical related back issues and this has dramatically improved my sitting experience.
Nice! Hopefully we helped you find that chair :) -Greg
@@btodtv You did actually. I watched dozens of your videos before finally making the purchase. I was in between the Haworth and the Embody. I am similar to your height and had heard your comment in a previous videos regarding the embody curling your shoulders in. I found a local dealer and experienced the same thing, pushing me towards the fern. I was hesitant to spend this kind of money on a chair, however working from home in the chair 8+ hours a day, I have no regrets.
It's always great to see people having positive experiences with proper ergonomic chairs.
I'm looking to buy the Fern. I'm between a mesh vs digital knit. Do you feel like the digital knit is breathable (and comfortable) enough? Or would you have preferred the mesh version? TIA.
I got a new Zody with lumbar support (seems like its the original version though) for less than $500 on a sale after trying it out. My country doesn’t have a lot of seat options (we don’t have steelcase dealers sadly and the herman miller is just way out of my budget. no 2nd hand market of these chairs either) but I’m hoping it will give me lots of years of comfort!
Very Solid tier list !!
Just ironic I took the Herman Miller Embody after friends recommended and took the SecretLab Titan.
Def not the same price range but I was ready to spend either on the Embody or the Leap.
Just concern about the price and feature diff between the Embody vs Embody Logitech Gaming but it will be
diffenitely a change from my old DXRacer...
amazing video which helped me so much to choose a chair !
As someone who is currently suffering through the post purchase of a Secret Labs Titan, I appreciate this list of straightforward reviews of office chairs. I agree with everything you listed about the Titan; hard as a rock, stiff, mediocre recline and adjustability. I have never had a chair cause me so much pain. I literally have 3 support cushions and it barely makes the chair useable.
Cheap Chinese crap is usually a disappointment
I found the opposite to be true about my XL. I can adjust it to the exact ergonomic state I wish to stay in for long typing sessions, and the head rest really helps when I lean back to read something while not typing. Maybe the non-XL are just not as good? I have heard others complain about non-XL but haven't seen any complaints about the XL. Maybe they fixed the issues you are having with it?
Idk, it's working out pretty well for me
yeah. dunno how long i have been usint this titan but it still holds on. and im heavy. and i use it a lot. hours and hours gaming. no issues. havent tryed others so cant compare :D
gaming chairs are mostly for looks ngl
I love the rapid-fire, to frills style of this
I finally retired my Leap v2 after getting the Embody. I just purchased the Embody and Fern to do a side-by-side comparison, it was a hard decision but I ended up returning the Fern. Been using the Embody for about 2 months now and it's definitely an improvement over the Leap.
Interesting...what was your config for the Fern? -Greg
@@btodtv Digital knit and no lumbar. It was a really nice chair. I wanted to keep both of them but I couldn't justify it lol. In the end I kept the Embody because it felt a bit more supportive for me. I'd say they are the 2 best chairs I've sat in though for sure. Really can't go wrong with either.
I also bought a Fern and returned it after 3 weeks or so. Didnt like the seat, made my tailbone feel numb. Bought a regular Embody and love it.
Call me poor but for $2k+ does the Embody also provide a happy ending?
@@hankkingsley9183 Lol it should for that price. But I guess my back is happy at the end of the day, so I'll say it's worth it.
Wow This must be a lot of preference. 15:41 Staples Hyken is my chair and has been for 7 years now, I absolutely love this chair specifically the way the mesh sits I find so comfortable.
I also have the Hyken. That thing is so comfortable and keeps my butt cool.
Hey guys, awesome review, very helpful. What do you think of the Sihoo Doro C300. I've just bought it, but wanted your opinions. Cheers for the videos, excellent content.
Did you enjoy it? Worth it?
I think it is a well supported on the back, but the seating is very restrictive on the legs. I have also purchased the ticova for my other office, and this I must say for the price is far superior
I have maxed out Aeron remastered (silver legs, leather armrests, headrest from Atlas etc) and I love everything about this chair except the fact I cannot sit in "weird" positions because of the rigid frame. But is it really something to dislike? I'm going to buy super comfy living room armchair and use it everytime I want to lift my legs and work on stuff being half asleep.
Excellent video. Thanks for that
Great reviews. You guys are doing a great job.
Thanks so much! -Greg
Got a Ticova after watching your review...very decent and comfortable for me!
Will you do a review of the atlas headrest that was recently released for the herman miller embody?
I sit in the Aeron Remastered probably 16 hours a day for most of the week. I can tell you the main issue with it is probably the seat curvature and that you can't slide it forward or back. Thankfully this chair has corrected my neck pain, so I can say I love this chair a lot :3 ( S tier headrest add on also purchased separately for this chair, I forgot who made it though... )
Atlas Headrest makes those Aeron and Embody Headrests and they are amazing
@@cahawaiian1 Yeah that is the oneee
That is a long grind in any chair. Glad you've found something that works, but sitting breaks are you friend :) -Greg
@@btodtv Working on that remedy. I built standup desk, it is more of a matter of having a side computer now in tandem with my work computer XD
it’s an incredible chair. s tier imo. I also have the atlas headrest on mine.
I ended up ordering the Embody after getting to try it out. Can't wait for it to arrive. Also can't wait to order and get the head rest! my current chair is killing me.
I keep sliding down or slouching on my embody chair for some reason. I've tried a let rest but that doesn't stop me either from subconsciously moving my butt forward. Anyone had this issue ?
@@Stiggy771 maybe extend the seat base out further? Havent had that problem yet. I noticed this chair really wants you to lock your butt in the back as far as possible.
Hello. What's ur opinion on it? Is it as comfortable as u expected?
@@antongromov8093 It got rid of all my back pain. Love this chair. I will say though they kind of mislead you. IF you dont like the chair you have to pay to ship it back and pay a stocking fee. Would have came out to like $400 for me.... My rent went up $300 after I got the chair and I really cant afford the payments. BUT I wasnt about to lose $400 if I sent it back.
I love my Fern so much, I wish my car seat was a Fern too. I got the pneumatic high which doesn't offer a headrest, but Atlas sells a headrest with a 3D printed adapter for the Fern.
What do you think about embody regular and gaming. which one is better for you?
holy shit you guys got straight to the point lmao. its refreshing honestly
Great video guys = very helpful!
Oddly enough, the Hyken is great for me. I work from home and I'm also a PC gamer, so I spend a LOT of time in the one I have. Mine is about 3 years old and I sit in it every day. I'm a bigger guy, at 5'10" and 240lbs and I don't contact the frame at all. The mesh is compliant but still supportive. What I ended up changing about it was actually the casters and adding armrest pads. Still, for the money, even with the changes, I'm perfectly happy with it.
yeah im a bit skeptical, i have the dexley which is pretty much the same as the hyken and I don't have any major complaints, its been very comfortable and also way cheaper than the competition. its not perfect but if you're on a budget its not bad at all
@@tubbycustard8866 Give it a couple years and you may be changing your mind. It's the reason I am looking for another chair today. It was great for about a year and half, but it has bottomed out and now I sit on plastic underneatht he mesh and I work 8-10 hours from home. I can be numbing to say the least.. Now I am looking for something higher end to hopefully last longer than 5 years. I can get a great deal on the Aeron like new used, but now this list got me second guessing..
Also 5'10 and have the Hyken, and it's been super comfortable, no problems with the mesh or contacting the frame.
Just recently got one myself; I'm 6'0" and around 180 lbs and I have to say for the pricepoint this seat is pretty great. Very supportive, yet also plenty of comfort for a full day of work or watching movies when tilted back. Was pretty surprised they rated it so low though... It is easily one of the highest value chairs for the money by comparison.
Thanks
Can you look at the boulies line of chairs sometime ?
I, thank you for all your videos that I've been watching all week :)
I'm looking for the best chair under 1300€. I'm 5,4 (1m64), and I don't know which one to choose (the Lamia is not available) so what do you suggest for a small girl between Amia, Gesture, Leap, Fern or Zody? There is no shop in Paris to try a Stillcase :(
Wish you would deliver to France :)
Thank you for your help !
I've been using the Herman Miller x Logitech Embody for 2 years and I'm never going back to any other chair.
I had lower back issues for over 7 years now due to my dad gave me an old office chair from his job that they were giving away and it was the cause of my lower back pain since the chair had no longer had any lumbar support and since I was a college student at that time I had to sit for long hours for some online classes and assignments which cause discomfort and eventually I needed physical therapy because I had trouble sitting on any seat due to the pain.
I tried the Herman Miller chairs at my previous job since all their departments had them and had to get one for myself before I left the job for different employment. I love how you can adjust the lumbar and the upper back to your liking unlike other chairs I tried and gotten after my dad's chair
When you make the Lamia, how would you rate the inverse chair you just made as well? Because then you have another office chair worth of parts sitting around so how do you rate the byproduct of the Lamia
Have a leap v2 and love it but without the headrest getting neck pain after 6 months of use. Chair was like 150 used and is holding up great still though. Tasking 8 hours a day led me to want the aerons forward lean. Going to try the aeron with added headrest followed by embody.
So I just bought a Herman miller Aeron remastered with all the features. The back is comfortable and I like how it opens my shoulders, but the seat is killing me. It is to stiff and just makes my butt and sit bones sore. I want something that will be comfortable to sit on, but give me the back and lumbar support feeling of the Aeron remastered. Any chair you recommend? FYI. I tried the embody but it caused my shoulders to roll forward and wasn’t a fan of that. Thank you 🙂
How about music studio chairs, You lean forward while editing tracks and often when using a keyboard, I don't spend a lot of time leaning back while working on music. It would need the arms adjustable to move out of the way when playing guitar. What chair would you advise under 350.00 for music studio?
Which size of Herman Miller Aeron did you use for this tierlist? It looked like your shoulderblades connected with the hard frame, maybe the larger size would be more comfortable?
I personally like the stiffness of the secret lab. I guess it's personal preference
How would you guys rate steelcase reply if u tried it? Most of these chairs aren't available in my country so i don't have many options
Awesome deserves an A+ category IMO. Chair is nearly perfect but the new models could do with a more custom adjustable lumbar support.
Hi, im in the uk so I don't think I will have the same choice, but I am desperate to get a new office chair, i was hoping you could tell me which one is the softest seating you have tried? have one that was custom made with tailbone cut out as ive had it removed but the extra foam is still too hard and I get numb legs and feet and sitting pain at the back of my thighs and butt. I need some sort of seating that is pressure relief and takes away my body movement and I really loved the humanscale diffrient world chair when I tried it as it did everything i wanted, but for sitting all day its not good because you can't really adjust it, there's no headrest and you start to touch the frame. Unfortunately all these companies i have contacted don't have any demo chairs to try even without any custom modifications and therefore despite having over a 2k budget for a chair, I am too scared to buy anything incase it comes its exactly like the one I have now which is an adapt that I can't actually sit on still. You wouldn't buy a sofa without sitting on it so why should I be expected to spend thousands on a chair but not know if its right for me because they don't have any for me to try first? Seems crazy to me!
So, I am looking for a good chair that I can use for many hours a day (5+) I need good back support and my budget is around $500 - 600, the problem is I live in Sweden and need a chair that can be shipped here. Any recomendations?
been looking at a chair for a while called Zen Phase 001, and from the pictures it looks identical to the secretlab neuechair. is it just a rebrand?
I love my Embody at my home office! At our summer house though where I wanted something more minimal and more airy, I find the Mira 2 extremely fitting! SOO much more comfortable then the Aaron 2 that we have in the office.
I grabbed one of your refurbed Amias earlier this year and it’s solid, though I wish the back was more supportive. Too bad I didn’t wait for the Lamia.
Yeah that would be my only gripe if you like A LOT of lumbar support. But for most, the Amia has enough support to keep them comfortable all day -Greg
Where can i get a final image of this tier list if posible with prices included
Im a big guy with some weight (155kg) I have to buy every year a new chair because it breaks even so the chairs are sold as 200kg supported. Which chair would you recommend to me? So far i hat a HJ office instructor, Diablo Chair X-Player XL and a Killerbee XL just since 2019. I really dont know if its worth it to buy a expensive chair because the HJ Office was 450€ and break the fastes. Feels so frustating because if i look for chairs up to 200kg i only get reviews who copy paste the marketing blabla but they all seem to lie when it comes to max supported weight.
Have you ever tried an ErgoCentric tCentric Hybrid? It's a chair from a Canadian manufacturer that looks pretty promising.
It's next to impossible to find these chairs second hand or refurbished in the UK. Every time I search for high end ergo chairs in the UK I get recommended your videos xD TH-cam needs better location segmentation sometimes ... I got all excited for nothing lol
Could you share link to the tierlist or list S and A tier in comment I think iossed what is second chair in Stier
I am 188cm/85kg sitting in chair for 12h a day and in the market for best chair, price is secondary at this point
So which one is the best in terms of price to performance?
I am a pretty skinny dude and don't have a lot of meat on the backside. I usually sink right through thinner seats and get pressure points. Would the OM Yes work better for me due to the thicker seat since I have tried a V2 Leap and would get tailbone issues after a while with it?
I've owned my SecretLab Titan chair for roughly 2 years now and it's at the point where it's killing my back. I wish I didn't make the investment. Currently on the market for an ergonomic office chair, and I find your video to be helpful. I'm leaning toward the Leap V2 or Embody.
i regretted buying the titan, the seat is way too stiff.
@@random0693 Same experience here.
went from the Titan to the Haworth Soji and have no regrets
Where would you put Asus Destrier on the last?
Do you guys ship to Canada?
Please review the Anthros chair, cloth and leather version 👍🏻
I got a used Amia chair the hospital was going to throw out for free, instantly fell in love with it but have noticed how worn down the cushion is on it, may be in the market for a Lamia it sounds like. I had a DX Racer for several years and I never realized how bad of a chair it really was until I sat in this Amia....
I saw IKEA released a new office chair model for 300, is it any good did you test it?
vallfjället
Dude said, "Nueue, Jose you should buy this chair!" 😂 earned my like with that joke!
Hi all!
What would you buy 660eur for the basic Fern (black, no additional lumbar, no headrest) or 880 eur for the Halo version?
Hello, you talk about the chair from Secret Lab but you didn’t talk about the NobleChairs. I have a NobleChair Hero in my office and I really like the back support that this chair offers. I'm 6'8''.
3 things i need from a chair aside from support. I need to be able to fold the arms out of the way to play guitar, and I need to be able to cross my leg(s) underneath the other so my blood doesn't pool in my feet and make my legs swell. #3, Is it comfortable butt naked? The only advantage to having a mesh chair and being naked is exfoliation. I have a mesh chair now and it's FULL of skin dust but I hate it being naked so i put a fleece blanket over it.
These chairs are probably amazing to work in, but almost NONE of these chairs on your list are ones that I could live with in my own home.
I have the Herman Miller Embody. I dislike the seat back, it becomes uncomfortable quickly. I have to place a strap on pad between the seat back and my back. I’m happy with the seat pan.. Got an inflamed very painful sacroiliac joint problem going on this past week, so I’m looking for another chair, after sitting in the Embody in my office for the past 6 years..
I’m a soon-to-be new owner of a Lamia chair thanks to this video and an automated email notification today. Thanks @btodtv! Hopefully my search for an all day desk chair is finally coming to and end…
That is awesome! Thank you for the support -Greg
Lamia? You mean the leap and Amia Mix?
I've been sitting on the Steelcase Gesture for a few months now and totally agree with you guys about the seat being a bit too stiff, especially under the tailbone. Will be looking into switching to one of the chairs you guys rated A or S.
id check out the aeron too. b tier ranking for that chair is kinda crazy.
@@frogturtle It's a really polarising chair, so B tier is still pretty good imo.
@@StardustLegacyFighter i just hate b tier because a lot of people will see this video and not even bother trying it just because it’s b tier. i do agree it’s polarizing and not for everyone but it’s a top quality chair *if* it fits you. worth trying at least imo.
@@frogturtle Yeah, that's literally why ppl need to try these chairs out for themselves first (if possible), as chair fit and comfort is way too subjective.
I'm not sure about other ppl, but whenever I see any tier list video, I always check out whatever is in C-S tier.
@@frogturtle problem with aeron is the biggest feature being all mesh so you dont sweat should make it appeal to heavier people but the mesh doesnt keep up with heavier people.
Love my embody, took a few months (ngl) to adjust and get it perfect though.
Best big and tall chair in $1000 usd range? Emphasis on big haha, im 360+ pounds so something with a 400 pound weight limit preferably. Also work from home so would be sitting in it 40-50 hours a week. Any recommendations would be appreciated
what headrest is shown on the leap steelcase?
May I ask what the exactly difference are between the embody chair and the embody chair for gaming? I just read that the embody - gaming version has an extra foam and cools better. Can anyone approve this?
What does the lumbar support mean or do?
How much does not having a neck/head rest impact your decisions on a lot of these chairs? Do you prefer it with or without?
Can you test also Kinnarps and especially Capella?
I just can’t believe this channel has so many in depth chair videos like don’t get me wrong I appreciate it but how does someone get into chairs like this lol
nice vid but simply can’t agree with aeron in b tier. I’ve sat in embody, leap V2 and gesture and prefer the aeron hands down largely due to the breathability of mesh and the 10/10 rocking mechanism. frame problems depend on your body type plus how you adjust the chair. it’s not for everyone.
for me it’s the easiest s tier pick of my life. to each their own.
Has anyone tried the Hinomi H1? Is it any good?
I can't take advice from someone unless I see their car seat settings. I have a sports car and a station wagon. I'm almost laying all the way down in both of them. I want to feel cupped in, my biggest gripe is the harsh seat. I don't have a big butt and I need the padding for my bony as*. Any advice?
I’ve been researching 3yrs, i might venture into the lamia
and im stuck what chair i should buy for gaming, office at home max 600 euro budget. :D i got lower back pain from the racing style chairs.
No bullshit review. I love it. I will buy from you guys. I saved your website to my links.
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about yhe Aeron Classic and where that would rank.
Not good. Ryan has been on record putting it as low as F tier -Greg
@@btodtv thanks for the info

I have a disc bulge. So I need a chair that offers a stiff support for my lower back. A head rest and collapsible arm rests would be perfect. Any recommendations? Thanks
Aeron remastered with the PostureFit SL, with the aftermarket Atlas headrest sounds like a great option.
If you don't like mesh, your best choice would be the Haworth Fern with the Digital Knit configuration and built-in lumbar support; you could then get an Atlas headrest with an adapter to attach it to the Fern.
The Leap v2 with built-in lumbar support is also a decent choice, but the headrest is pretty terrible.
None of the aforementioned options have collapsible armrests, as that's not something that's commonly found on high-end office chairs.
Is Embody Gaming better than the regular one?
When will the full review of Robert's kitchen chair come out? Next year, April 1st?
I asked how much it would be to buy it for BTOD's chair collection. He said we couldn't afford it....haha -Greg
So is the Herman miller embody the best?
Is it a really big difference between Logitech embody and regular ? I had a regular for few weeks but didn’t liked it at all … mostly because seat seems to not be filled out fully when it connects with back, and I had a tailbone pain a fell a gap … I really liked the back tho, so thinking about Logitech, but i would have to import that one as it’s not sold in my country.
I don’t think there is enough difference for you to not have the feeling the regular Embody gave you. The fabric and rubbed texture makes it a bit different but nothing drastic. -Ryan
I never sat in a secret lab chair until my friend bought one recently and wanted me to try it because he loved hit. Worst chair I've sat on. Super hard, stiff and overall not comfortable. Looks great, but that's not what it's about. Saving up to get an HM embody. Untill then, I'm sticking to my trusty IKEA Markus😂
My bottom hurts with the embody. Its disconcerting to see it so highly rated and then it be terribly uncomfortable. I've made several adjustments, watched customization videos. I'm not sure where to go next when the best doesn't work for me. Thanks for any help.
After having a month to break into it, is it more comfortable now?
