    As it is I don't really like it. For me it would be the best if:
    - It would be a nice ipod alternative, but it does not even have a jack output? If no jack output, then at least have bluetooth! But I would trade the R-L buttons for one jack output.
    - I don't like the square screen. I would have gone for a 9:10 (gameboy ratio) screen, and dedicate the device for gameboy and gameboy color games (but neo geo pocket would also be enjoyable on that)!
    - Thus the buttons you would need are: d-pad, A, B, start, select. Nothing more, keep it simple. The fact that you can play ps1 games on it does not mean that you should.
    If these changes happen, then I will buy this thing instantly and keep it on my car key ring.

    LOL Yeah we got the blue as well, its nice. The music on this device is better than expected especially when you use studio grade headphones. Love the store walk😂. Its a fun little item but not for everyone, mostly for collectors like us. Thanks for a great video.

    I don’t really know why everyone is talking about this as a cheap device. It’s sold for 60/70$. It has a 3$ Soc mounted on a 5$ board. If we consider 5$ for the battery and 10$ (that’s a lot) for shell and buttons they spend 20/25$ to make it. They spend nothing for shipping from china because they wait until they fill a container and then they pay only for a single shipping. They gain not less than 35/40$ every device. It doesn’t cost a lot? Yes. Its cheap? Absolutely no!

  • @leonardomatheus1888
    @leonardomatheus1888 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    O hope it gets cheaper with time.
    I liked it as a novelty and maybe as a mp3 player, how long does the battery last while listening to music?

    • @retrohandhelds
      @retrohandhelds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was farting around for two hours and the battery didn't lose too much. It's still at like 60% after unboxing it and using it for a while for recording without ever charging it.

    Definetly change the SD card, my GBA Sonic 2 is much smoother. someone posed the original sd card img from anbernic with an 1.0.2 update.

      As a rule of thumb for Chinese devices always clone the included card to a more reputable one. These usually come with low quality cards that are really slow, prone to corruption or both.

    For anyone who wants to know how big this is, it's the size of the brand label on the back of your pants.
    It's a trip playing GBA Mario Kart, SNES Street Fighter 2 Turbo, NBA Hangtime and Smash TV on this device. I'm happy with my purchase.
    For hard games just put hacked roms on this device so you can still enjoy it. The dpad has great controls but it being small, it will be difficult to play hard games like Megaman and Contra accurately.

    I'd like someone to design something around this size with one handed use in mind, instant sleep/wake, and a clamshell designed to flip open like a flip phone (easy one hand use, also a bit satisfying to flip). That would have a niche - leave in a pocket, playing slow and turn based games like 10-15 minutes at a time when standing around and whatnot.

    • @drmoze
      @drmoze ปีที่แล้ว

      hold the power key to power down. hold it again to power up, exactly where you left off. better than sleep, no battery drain.

    Nano, Nano. It's funny time traveling from the future, seeing the beginnings of this channel and thinking about what would happen later. Who could've imagined the whole of humanity would be in debt to Zu after the *redacted* incident? Watch out for the *redacted* on the *redacted* Zu ! Anyhoo, can't say too much or Galactic President Gary and I might get stuck in one of those awful time travel paradoxes, which would be ironic given the *redacted* diplomacy mess up. Can't deny it was a clever (if uncomfortable) place to hide the RG Nano though.

  • @tutubi

    I think the next small portable device maker should focus on usability.
    You don’t need 6 front buttons for the consoles you can realistically play on such a small device. Just focus on portable devices whose games you can actually see and play on a tiny screen. A & B for old school portables is enough, maybe L & R for the GBA if you can fit a 5:3 or 4:3 screen in it.
    This way, buttons would be larger. Make it usable. I don’t want a proof of concept sitting in a drawer
