O49 was trying to make the cure but do you know why? it was for this exact reason he killed people who had free will and the scp soldiers were a perfected version of 049s zombies

Nah. Not connected. It clicks a bit, like those tricky puzzle pieces, but no.
049 doesn't cure everyone, only people with the pestilence. This IT entity is inside the human psychosis and is the cause of what makes humans 'human'. Anyone that feels pain, feels emotions and has the qualities we call 'having a soul' has IT in their subconscious. So this means that almost everyone, except those we consider 'monsters in human skin' like serial killers, have the entity inside them.
Unless the original data on 049 gets changed to fit 5000's lore, it won't connect.

My theory: The Foundation was complicit in allowing Pietro to complete his mission, because they acknowledged that resetting the world was another way to cleanse humanity of It (or, as It is called in my murder mystery notes, the Disgusting Secret). That's why they refrained from initiating a class XK when plenty of the SCPs under their custody were amply capable of it. That's why they used SCP-1290 to attack Ganzir when by Pietro's own reasoning conventional missile propulsion would have been more effective. And SOMEONE had to entrust Pietro with SCP-055 during those three months.
As for It, my theory is that It is harmless as long as it goes unknown. The Foundation saw that the Disgusting Secret was a Keter-class anomaly, impossible to reliably contain once discovered, and PNEUMA opened Pandora's Box. Knowing this, the Foundation marched forth as a force of chaos, fear, and death, keeping humanity too confused, panicked, and in some cases dead to see the Disgusting Secret staring them right in the face. That's why they went public, when they could easily have achieved their goal from the shadows. That's why the O5 Council blundered and caused mass insurgence among their staff - they wanted to avoid telling the staff the Disgusting Secret, but as they would find in the three days after the new orders were sent out, there was simply no other way to make them complicit in the Council's omnicidal intentions. This also is a critical reason why SCP-055 was so important to thwarting It - SCP-055's specialty is collapsing information. Not only was it a key combo piece with SCP-579, its anti-memetic properties also kept Pietro's mind perfectly insulated from the horrible force that is the Disgusting Secret.

Yeah, I think that makes sense, since whether SCP-5000’s host failed and they succeeded in eradicating the psychosphere It resided in or they failed and SCP-5000’s host succeeded in altering the fabric of reality so that It was never discovered (and therefore never awakened), either way they’d win and It would lose.
Unfortunately, us discussing it is brushing rather close to discovering it... And causing the self same end of world event they tried to prevent...

I really like that theory! Especially since if I remember correctly, Pandora's Box dealt in a very similar psychological thing, being hatred, fear, etc. and only having Hope to counteract all the negative emotions released. So evidently, whatever filled the role of Hope in the Second Pandora's Box was deemed not worth it.
That also kind of makes sense with the Foundation agent saying they're not *supposed* to feel pain. If Pandora's Box being opened released Pain into the psychosphere, then yeah, the 'default' would lack that, and it'd technically be considered an abnormality.

it would explain why any tests the foundation did before couldn't find the pestilence, but if it made the foundation attack humanity and removing pain, it also explains scp-049's cure of turning people into zombies as well.

What I want to know is what was SCP 343 doing. What happened to him? And does he know about "it".
Here's what I think: IT is not an entity that plots some sort of horror, it's a MEMETIC THREAT. It's power is so severe that it can even overpower a person trained to resist memetics, such as a member of the O5 council. The memetic effect is that it convinces people that they must abandon all empathy and pain and destroy humanity under the guise of some sort of creature having some sort of horrible plans to do something even worse.
What I think is that when The Foundation delved deeper into the Psychosphere they've discovered and let loose a MEMETIC ANOMALY that convinced them they're fighting aganist it, while simultaneously making The Foundation it's slaves.
Seeing how the SCP universe is filled to the brim with the literal unexpected maybe so. It will be better than an actual anomaly that feeds off of pain and legit holds your soul after death to squeeze the pain out of you even further that's for sure.
this makes the most sense to me, since the idea of either the ethics committee or 05 council having unanimous agreement on anything, especially something this drastic, is insanely unlikely, even more so that both came to the same unanimous conclusion, I think that even if IT was truly horrible there would have been ethics committee and 05 members who demanded another solution, some kind of memetic threat seems the most likely reason for this.

It's important to understand that the Foundation losing and the failure to eliminate humanity is the bad ending. That is how malevolent *It* is. This entity, whatever It's intentions, is so heinous that the Ethics Committee has concluded that for the good of all reality, the extinction of us, *Its* hosts, human consciousness, is the only moral action to take.

my thought is that *IT* is a creature that has two consciousness - both of them are powerful. One wants to make everything happy and nice, while the other wants to torture all living things and destroy all existence. I think that the Scarlet King resides in this half. The Foundation found out about this and didn't know about the better half, so they started mercifully and quickly exterminating humanity in order to make it quick and painless to all. The stone hearts is so that the remaining exterminators cannot be tortured, so *IT* has no choice but to let them live or kill them. But, the half of *IT* that is good saw this and didn't want the extermination to happen. So, *IT* changed reality so SCP 5000 existed - the perfect tool to help someone restart the universe. *IT* also made SCP 055 and SCP 579, then let reality fold itself out. The Foundation was trying to kill the bad half of IT, and I think that IT resides in all alive beings. So, *IT* caused the entire universe to be rewinded - at the cost of Pietro Wilson's life in that reality. This is also why the Foundation made those statues - to quickly exterminate humanity as well as protect SCP 579 from getting SCP 055 since they knew that's what *IT* wanted. But, it was the good half, not the bad half. I think that *IT*, just like SCP 3700, will eventually lose to the bad half, but until then, the good half will try its best to save reality while either SCP 999 destroys all of the evil in the world (and possible weakening/killing the bad half of *IT*), and/or the Foundation finds a way to destroy the bad half of *IT*. Now, this explanation isn't 100% perfect, as it doesn't explain a few things in the SCP universe, but seriously, the entire SCP universe can't be explained easily, so just branch off of it. My theory is that “it” is The Scarlett King’s rival. It would explain why so many anomalies hate humanity since a great number of them such as 682 have links to him.
great idea but IT and scarlet king has many different differences that couldn't make them the same person, first, IT resides in the human psycho-sphere or unconsciousness while the scarlet king was in another dimension. Another thing, the theory is that 682 hates IT which resides in humans, not because of the scarlet king, the scarlet king doesn't reside in people's collective unconsciousness doesn't he? Its confirmed that he's in another dimension (although 682 might be related to him).

They must hate each other because one just wants to destroy humanity for its own desire, while the other wants to preserve humanity to sustain itself off of their emotions.

Connecting this story with the end of the Ouroboros Cycle really provides a cool story. Just imagining the Foundation having had enough with the Administrator, created Project Pneuma to contain it. Upon uncovering the human collective. The Foundation concluded that IT (the Administrator) can only be contained by eliminating "humanity". And since the Administrator is the biggest threat, the Ethics Committee approved mass human genocide.

I wouldn't say that's 100% correct.
049's cure is flawed because he has to kill and reanimate the patient for it to work, but the foundation managed to make a better one that doesn't require killing and reanimating.

Why did Pietro black out the first time when he woke up 3 months later with the briefcase?
What happened to the young boy when Pietro touched it with the suit and worms with faces started coming out?
Most likely millions of people saw 096’s face prior to him and it was hunting down all those prior. IDK why he blacked out but it could be linked to the indescribable object which is 055. The boy was attacked by an SCP which consumed its insides and was making a nest in its body.
It could also be that 5000 stopped 096 from being able to locate him.

Theory: The cure, is the same as the plague doctors, as when the cure for an animal was finished (the non aggressive one) it made the animal very relaxed, like it could *feel no pain*
The distribution method of this cure was digital, similar to a memetic kill agent or other visual based cognitohazards.
Not that I disagree, for whom knows what would happen if you got the doctor and gave them a crash course in anomaly-enhanced Nano-surgery....

my theory:
the fact scp-049 can sense it makes me think even more it is (the (anomaly) the SCP foundation called "IT" or whatever) travels and spreads in psychospace thing, which the plague doctor can probably detect, but since it isn't normally something detectable physically, the SCP foundation don't believe it(unless they do the psychospace experiment thing)
I think 049 can attack things in the psychospace with his touch, which would kill the person and the pestilence/IT, then he rebuilds the person's spychospace

If you’re all curious as to what “it” possibly is, my personal favorite theory was highlighted by the channel “the exploring series “ . But I’m not saying his suggestion for a reason that you’ll see if you watch the end of his video on this scp. His reasons for saying the theory mostly lie within the possible references in this story, which are in my opinion are rock solid. It also slightly explains the special contorting entity that this video described.

that actually is not bad cause yeah in the 001 proposal of Scarlett King it was said that knowing more about him makes him alot stronger and i think they kinda found out about him.
Not exactly, the scarlet king isn’t the subtle type. He grows in power the more people know about him in more depths so most of what he does is extremely public and just brutish, also he’s a lot more destructive rather than it just vibing in the sky.
also remember, whatever it was, it was a parasitic thing, not a world destroyer. It needs the humans consciousness to survive by the sounds of it so it wouldn’t try and wipe them out

I didn't think he reset the dimension after reaching scp 579, I thought it was a bootstrap paradox. He went back in time, instigating what had already happened all over again, creating an infinite loop. The main evidence behind this is him recalling at the beginning where scp 5000 originally came from, it suddenly appeared in scp 579's test chamber inexplicably just as he does later, or earlier, depending how you look at it. But hey I never read the story just watched the videos so I shouldn't talk ig.

As much as I enjoy the stories brought to animation, I can't help but realize how hard it is to take the horror theme seriously with the PG style animation, these stories thrive off the details in the lines. Y'all killin me slowly
