In the thumbnail that big smile on your face, a freshman walking into a new world, just brings me so much joy and encouragement! I'm going to be a freshman this fall. Your videos on your channel have excited me even more to be at UTK, and have calmed down my apprehensions about living on campus. I'm going to be moving into Magnolia Hall too!

Steve Henry Thank you for watching! I’m so glad my videos are helpful :) Unfortunately, I do not know any measurements of the furniture, but I do know that the bed is pretty much your standard twin xl in length and width. For reference, I used a king size pillow in place of a headboard that basically was the entire width of my twin xl bed. I would recommend contacting housing to see if they could give you exact measurements of all the furniture though!
I’m going to be in dogwood next year as a freshmen in the Honors LLC. How much different is it from your video of magnolia? And is the window in every dorm off centered? And are the showers smaller in normal rooms?
Mary Roark hi!!! Dogwood and magnolia are practically the same dorm. My room including my shower was a little bit bigger because I was in an ADA room. In Magnolia, not every window was off centered; however, most are, and I do not know about Dogwood. Every room I have been in in Dogwood had an off centered window. Hope this helps!🧡

Hannah H Yay! Welcome to Rocky Top! My roommate had the first housing window to pick which dorm we would live in, so that is how we got to live in Magnolia. Next year, Dogwood will be the honors LLC, and Magnolia will have two LLCs on the second and fourth floors. It is very competitive, but if you or your roommate has an early housing window, you can potentially get in. I plan on doing a video more in depth about this because it’s really confusing! Hope this helps :)

Hello! I will be an incoming freshman at UTK next year and rooming in Magnolia, is there anything you can tell me about the bathroom. I am trying to plan storage things and a shower curtain. are there any storage in the bathroom? or is there anything specific I need for the bathroom that would help that wasnt shown in your vidoe?
olivia macy hi!!! You’re going to love Magnolia. My bathroom in this video is a little bit larger than the other bathrooms in normal size rooms. I would suggest bringing your own storage to put in the bathroom because there is no storage provided by the university in the bathroom. There is storage underneath the sink though in normal rooms where you are able to put lots of things, which is great. Hope this helps!!!!
Are all the beds in Magnolia low loft ( I think this terminology) like the ones in your room Julia?
Yes! All beds in Magnolia are junior loft!
how did yall get into the ADA room? and what is LLC. im in love w the dorm ahahah
Jennifer Getzinger It’s kind of complicated how my roommate and I got in the ADA room, but basically the university placed us in there because no one needed it this year; however, it is needed this upcoming year. An LLC is short for a Living Learning Community. Basically when you live in a LLC, you live with people on the same floor/dorm that are also in that same LLC. There are several types of LLCs like major, volunteer, and honors program oriented. I’m going to do a video talking all about housing very soon, so let me know if you have more questions!

Jordan Thurston yes you can. Magnolia is competitive though, so you must have an early housing window to choose housing to get this dorm. Feel free to watch my Process of Choosing Housing video to learn more about housing windows and what to expect when choosing a dorm your freshman year :)

macey's mlogs living on campus is so convenient, and you truly get the freshman college experience, but I know lots of people who do not live on campus their freshman year and absolutely love it. Lots of people sign leases for apartments and houses their sophomore year, so living off campus is not a weird concept at all. It’s really preferential!!! :)
