My favourite model shop! It was this place that rebooted my love of model railways about 8 years ago. The friendliest shop I've ever been in. It 's strange watching this, it's like someone is filming in my second home!🤣🤣
A nice tour of my local model shop, Karen, Ian, Gareth, and Paul, have done a fantastic job of keeping the shop running after the loss of Alan. We visit most weeks, and it's a very welcoming place to visit. It's a great video... Cheers James 🙂👍
Good on you for showcasing local model shops. My local shop doesn't carry much in UK rolling stock, but always good to say hello and have a look around. I always end up coming home with paints, glue, bits and bobs, and they have a big used book collection that costs me an arm and leg.😁 If you have a local model shop, support it! Otherwise, next time you need it, it may not be there anymore.
Good Morning Rick and Pauline 😃😃 again I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for doing a video at my Local Model Railway shop, as I mentioned in my last message to you both, I've been going to both of the shops (different owners) since I was a kid 😁😁 and it's so nice to see the shop still going. The Shop is well stocked up with everything that people want in the world of modeling and great prices too. I know the staff really well and also the previous owners too, who sadly are no longer here 😢 and it's one of those shops where they make people feel so welcoming, it's just like the old fashioned family run business that used to be around back in the old days. And like I told you also in my last message, I live just down the road from the shop too, so it's really handy for myself, but it's just a shame that it's only open two days a week now 😞 but at least it's still open even if it's only two days. The staff do a lovely job in keeping the business going. 👍 Anyway I'm glad to see you both had a great day there, why not pop up to another model railway shop I visit regularly, it's in Derby and is called Loughborough Models Centre, but also known as a different name now, but people like myself still know it as the old name. Hi guys, Another great video by you both. That train pack the R30036 was good value, Some on ebay £82 ish , Why dont people look to see what others are selling for before they ask stupid prices, £82 is just ripping you off.
I know this model shop well in fact only went last Saturday the Airfix Mark 2 coach ( the rare one) in the GMR box along with the Mainline Class 45 have a new home now. We are lucky that Karen kept the shop open after going losing Alan. He was a nice man found him easy to talk too I have more time for this shop and they are more than willing to help you out unlike another Sheffield retailer that I now refuse to trade with after been treated unfairly but this is not place to talk about that let's keep things positive. Hope you enjoyed your visit to my home town.

Glad you are doing these support your shop videos. I would love this shop where I am In Clacton Essex but we have a craft shop which does model railway as a sideline and altho their prices are much higher than on line I still buy the odd bit to support them and see the stuff for real. Wonder what will happen at Hornby now Mike Ashley increased his shareholding?
Bit of a drive from Bournemouth, but if I'm ever in the area I will pop in for sure ! I love these kinds of shops which are sadly on the decline. Nice video, thanks for the upload !

Hi Rick and Pauline, This week's comment about one of your queries. I don't know if you were aware that Hornby's 1:1 collection are models of the real vehicles that are or where stored in a shed at their Margate factory.
Unfortunately a lot of these model shops are disappearing from our high streets as companies like bachmann and Hornby are killing the market with there high price goods, people on low income just can't afford the hobby, even second hand models are getting to expensive,
Amazon is no longer as cheap as it was so I would definitely shop around. Shows and fairs are good if you can get to them but shops can provide a lot more. Thanks for watching Rick

I don't think I said that? The shop sells online and the address is in the video. I have bought lots of items online including from eBay. The two can happily exist side by side I just think it would be a shame if all the shops disappeared and we were left with chunky chicken take aways and vape shops. 🍗🚬
I'm amazed these shops can keep going with the cost of model's going sky high , people on low income just can't afford the model railway hobby it's just to expensive even second hand models are getting expensive IVe started on a. Layout but now can't afford to finish building it so it sits in the cupboard,
Secondhand is the way to go, I have only bought one new loco as far as I can remember. Shops also have a lot of items that are not on display and give discounts on used track for people starting layouts.It might be an idea to join your local model railway club if you have one as they quite often have lots of items to sell they don't require. That is definitely having an effect and explains why many shops are selling more used models.
the problem is amazon is cheaper,, and second hand stalls make modelling more affordable
