I like your interpretation of Gold, but it's one of those songs that you need to know a bit more about Marina to understand. It's mostly addressing music producers and labels. Her experience with her second album Electra Heart, wasn't a good one, she apparently didn't make as much money as she should have, and in FROOT she dropped all the collaborations, all the producers except for one guy, and wrote it all on her own to prove she doesn't need those men to help her career and get the money they think she can make. It's also about realising she doesn't want that fame anymore, it's not worth the price of working with those people.
Yes!! It’s important to know that she wrote it pretty soon after all the Electra Heart tours and performances were finally completed, and for the first time in a long time, she felt free. She didn’t have to conform to her labels expectations and standards anymore, and she was ready to start a new chapter in her life. The song is more about freedom than anything else

Questionable Loyalty same. Every song is relatable to a situation anyone might have experienced so it depends on which period of my life I listen to certain songs. Sad or happy. In Terms of videos I like Tfj era the most because she was so creative and dynamic with them despite the lower budget.

Blue was my favorite track from the first listen - the lyrics are sad but the song is energetic and upbeat - love the juxtaposition. Definitely could relate to the lyrics of realizing a relationship is falling apart but you just crave that physical connection. I love how lines in I'm A Ruin contradict: "you still mean everything to me, but I wanna be free". Really captures the conflicting emotions of a breakup. The title track FROOT has multiple meanings. She's acknowledged that she has a huge LGBT following and she's grateful of that, the multiple colored lights highlighting her hair on the album cover reference the rainbow LGBT pride flag. Also FROOT LOOPS cereal is spelled the same way, and "fruit" being slang for "gay". But the lyrics of FROOT are more literal, explaining love as a harvest that could be a good or bad season: "I'm your carnal flower, I'm your bloody rose, Pick my petals off and make my heart explode, I'm your deadly nightshade, I'm your cherry tree, You're my one true love, I'm your destiny" I actually grew to really love Forget and Immortal as these were the only tracks available for karaoke singing, I had to listen to them many times to rehearse them. I love the low voice drops on Immortal: "part of the human race.... RAAAACEE". On Forget, once again Marina uses odd pronunciation to draw your attention: "When I was born to be the tortoise I was born to walk alone". She does the same technique on "Oh No!" on The Family Jewels, won't spoil it for you, listen to that album :) A friend got me to re-listen to Weeds, thats another track that grows on you on repeat listens. Love the line "I miss all of my exes, they're the only ones that know me". Wow, kinda got carried away. I love Marina and the Diamonds :)

I don't know if you read the comments, but Savages is specifically about the Boston Bombings. "One man can build a bomb, while another runs a race to save somebody's life and have it blow up in his face." This line is about the bomb exploding near the finish line. It's my favorite line on the album because I don't know how someone could sit down and write that. She's truly a genius.
you've done these reaction vids in the perfect order so far! ive noticed if i show my friends electra heart, then froot, then the family jewels, that they take more of a liking to marina. they way i see it, electra heart is essentially a gateway album (pop hooks and general catchiness), froot being a good follow up (less fabrication, positive messages), and tfj (an actual cacophony) is really only for those who've decided they're in for the marina bandwagon (unless they found it themselves!)

I don't know if you read the comments, but Savages is specifically about the Boston Bombings. "One man can build a bomb, while another runs a race to save somebody's life and have it blow up in his face." This line is about the bomb exploding near the finish line. It's my favorite line on the album because I don't know how someone could sit down and write that. She's truly a genius.

you've done these reaction vids in the perfect order so far! ive noticed if i show my friends electra heart, then froot, then the family jewels, that they take more of a liking to marina. they way i see it, electra heart is essentially a gateway album (pop hooks and general catchiness), froot being a good follow up (less fabrication, positive messages), and tfj (an actual cacophony) is really only for those who've decided they're in for the marina bandwagon (unless they found it themselves!)

"Froot", definitely (for all the reasons you mentioned 👍). At first listen my favorite track was "Better Than That", then "I'm a Ruin" and "Forget" started to grow on me. But I love each and every track on this album, no filler. Flawless masterpiece

FROOT is by far Marina's best album IMO. All the songs there are good (I love all the tracks and would never skip) but these are my faves (in no particular order)
