THe only thing I disagree with your review is "Dance In The Dark" being not on par with the others, in my opinion is one of her most powerful songs. Not only she mentions Lady Diana, she mentions a bunch of other famous women, most of them beauty icons and actresses, who died in tragic ways - Marilyn (Monroe, who died of overdose), Judy (Garland, also self-inflicted overdose), Sylvia (Plath, suicide), and (Jon)Benet Ramsey (a six year old beauty pageant who was brutally murdered back in the 90's). It stresses how much their voices, now silenced, won't be anymore in girls (and boys too) who are going through similar experiences, and that they do not need to have the same tragic ends these women and girls had. "Find your freedom in the music (...) You will never fall appart, Diana you're still in our hearts. Never let you fall appart, Together we'll dance in the dark.") And the song is not only about someone pointing out someone's body in a negative way so much this person dislikes to have sex with the lights on ("Baby loves to dance in the dark, 'Cause when he's lookin' she falls appart."), it is about the insecurities inflicted in women in general by society and the industry, creating problems where there are none ("Silicone, Saline, Poison, Inject me" / "She looks good but her boyfriend says she's a mess, (...) Now the girl is stressed.") and how this destroys people's lives. You said this would be a song that wouldn't be as successful today, but I will have to disagree, exactly because of the times we are today, with all the feminist / LGBTQ+ movements gaining so much voice and power. Not to mention, "Dance in the Dark" has the sample of freaking awesome (and tacky) George Michael's "Careless Whisper" at the begining, which somehow is a reference to Gaga's own song about "dancing in the dark" ("I'm never gonna dance again, Guilty feet have got no rhythm, Though it's easy to pretend, I know you're not a fool"). Sorry for the long comment lol, I am really defensive with Dance in the Dark, that song is a masterpiece in my opinion, though I really love the Fame Monster in general
People can call Lady Gaga a flop all that they want, but there is no denying the fact that "The Fame Monster" changed the world forever. Music in 2008 was simply a smaller place. Event albums were scarce, music videos were dwindling in relevance, and award shows were almost uniformly boring. Stars like Beyonce and Rihanna were beginning to push at pop's walls a little bit, but weren't yet at the place of completely breaking the mold. The EDM boom, and accompanying explosion in festival culture were still a couple years away. Something big really needed to happen. It didn't take long for Lady Gaga to prove that she was the asteroid pop music was begging to have crash through it. Debut single "Just Dance" topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in early 2009, and "Poker Face" made her two-for-two a couple months later. Before long, this sexually ambiguous club diva with mainstream pop smarts, and underground grit was the biggest thing in Top 40 just in time for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, where her surreal, macabre performance of new single "Paparazzi" scalped us all of our edges. And of course, the videos. "Paparazzi" proved her most striking visual to date, ante upped later that year with the landing of the "Bad Romance" clip, an extraterrestrial odyssey that proved instantly iconic, in a way videos weren't supposed to be anymore. Best of all was "Telephone," in which Gaga was joined by Beyoncé for a ten-minute, high-art-infused, road-tripping hodgepodge of Tarantino, Thelma & Louise and Japanese TV that became the first event video of the 2010s. Gaga celebrated her coronation as the franchise player of 21st-century MTV (and TH-cam) by wearing a meat dress to the '10 VMAs, and finally Millennials had a pop star who could hold her own against Madonna and Michael Jackson. She took American mainstream music at one of its least-interesting and most star-power-deprived moments and made it bigger, weirder, more visual and infinitely more personality-driven -- in other words, much more fun. Lady Gaga is one of the female artists (the other two being Britney Spears, and Madonna) who made the music industry what it is today. ⚡✝🔻🔵🎺👒 #PutYourPawsUp

So Happy I Could Die is literally my favorite song EVER. Like by any artist, it's my favorite. Honestly, The Fame and the whole Monster reissue altogether is probably my favorite album of all time.
The whole album is timeless... Monster whould have been a single in the album but it was removed bc of bad romances success but in my opinion the song is timeless
Guuuuuuuurl, James Dean was BAAAAAAE. Watch him on the movie east of eden, he was so DAMN hot. He is so popular because he died at the age of 24 on a car accident, he only did 3 movies, but those movies are legendary.
lmao Speechless is about her father having to get heart surgery, she said she would retire from music if he died. Also her and Kanye were supposed to have a tour together but it was cancelled so there's that lol
dance in the dark is about having sex in the dark, because you're too insecure about your body! And dancin in circles from Joanne is about masturbation so Gaga often uses the term of dance to talk about sex! Teeth is also my favorite with so happy I could die, anyway I love you girl thanks for the good vibes!
My opinion of every track: Bad Romance: *NO WORDS NEEDED* Alejandro: Sounds so theatrical and danceable. Just love it Monster: At first, kinda boring, but, it got better from the second chorus til' the end. Speechless: My least favourite, but, still a beautiful song. Dance in the Dark: Mysterious, with the deepiest message of the album. One of the two songs which fit more in the album, alongside with Teeth. Telephone: MY FAVOURITE. And the mv is everything. So Happy I Could Die: Dark song, but, makes me feel powerful. Teeth: It captivated me the first time i heard it. Don't ask me why.
James Dean did three movies... was dead by the time the last , "Giant", was released. He died in 1955 driving a Porsche race car... his neck was broken. He was also allegedly bisexual, and he liked to be with macho guys while also being engaged to actress Pier Angeli (she was an Italian actress)... "East of Eden" is his first movie and the best. It's a Steinbeck novel. He's the prodigal son... "Rebel Without a Cause" is the one that made him the icon he is... a confused, outsider, alienated by the absent parenting and cruel suburban hoods... in 1954. Natalie Wood is his girlfriend in the movie, and while the movie was being filmed she was assaulted by one of the actors (she never said who publicly)... James Dean was her friend and knew something had happened, was protective of her... and also died young and tragically. He was handsome, but his acting for that time was considered amazing, because he was trying to really be the character... We must brunch !!! Love your reviews !
The bridge to Dance in the Dark lists a bunch of celebrities who died before their proper time. The song is about the fear of self; always wanting to be in the dark because she's ashamed of herself and she doesn't want to confront her flaws. I think your interpretation was pretty spot on though! So Happy I Could Die is meant to be about her fear of alcoholism. Each song is about a fear, by the way. To me, I hear her singing about her best friend she's in love with who she goes partying with. She can only have a good time and be real with this other person when she has alcohol, though, so she can never fully give herself to them and her only solace is when she's sober and alone. When she says "so happy I could die and it's alright" I think she means that very literally. Her alcoholism could very well kill her, and maybe death would be alright because then she doesn't have to deal with her pain. But that's just my interpretation, the lyrics are really loose and could mean anything.

I remember "Monster" was released as a single in Puerto Rico for whatever reason and it was a HUGE HIT. I would hear it all the time on the radio. I was shocked to find out that it wasn't released as a single elsewhere
love love your videos. Ok, so I was obsessed with James Dean as a kid. Basic gist James Dean is a 1950s movie icon who died young. He made Rebel Without A Cause, Giant, and East of Eden. Although method acting was becoming more popular, James Dean embodied the total "rebel" in conservative 1950s America. He emoted so much onscreen, he played a lead character that talked back to his parents, he was a bit of a misunderstood loner as his character in Rebel Without A Cause. What's crazy is that he died before he got super famous in a car accident which only fanned the fire of his fame when Rebel Without A Cause. Also being a "teenager" is a modern concept that I believe has its roots in the 1950s too...prior to that they were just young adults or kids...anyhow, I digress, lol. Looks wise, he's popular for having "dreamy blue eyes," a DGAF attitude, and I guess he is what some people today would consider "emo."
PLEASE DO MORE FLORENCE Lungs: Shorter tracks Or the Royal Albert Hall live performance Also if you watch her short film "The Odyssey" ,based off of HBHBHB, it tells an amazing story Or if you do Florence Friday's you could do all of them
the songs may not be "timeless", but what people have to remember is that these songs were the START. Before Just Dance, even when Bad Romance was released, pop music didn't sound like this. She singlehandedly took the genre in a completely new direction, so props definitely have to be given to these songs.
@@SK-ou2wv she truly is, but even as a hardcore fan since pretty much day one I can acknowledge some of the early songs have aged 💀 but they’re still iconic tbh.
Could you react to the album Warrior by Kesha? It's the last album she released 5 years ago. I would love if you react to it so you can contrast between her old music and the one she will release with her new album "Rainbow" that will be released on August
This album is full of songs with double meanings, what's on the surface but mainly about: 1. “Bad Romance”- Fear of Love 2. “Alejandro”- Fear of Men 3. “Monster”- Fear of Sex 4. “Speechless”- Fear of Death 5. “Dance In The Dark”- Fear of Self/Judgement 6. “Telephone”- Fear of Suffocation 7. “So Happy I Could Die”- Fear of Addiction 8. “Teeth”- Fear of Truth The real little monsters know that Gaga is much better than Joanne even with it being a good album. The fame monster is arguably her best work. And has always been praised. Not necessarily my fav of hers because for me it's between ARTPOP & Born This Way
Justin Pineda I haven't seen the songs the way u explained them until now... Adding "fear" to their context gives more geniality to "The Fame Monster" and Gaga too
910204david My favourite is absolutely ARTPOP, I felt like Born This Way had so many fillers that I couldn't enjoy the album as a whole... But let's face it every Gaga album is iconic in its own way and deserves to be celebrated
Gaga has always been a genuis...people just had to catch up with her intelligence ... They didn't appreciate artpop when it came out now they see it as her best album... There will be a time that people will learn who revolutionary gaga was/is to music... and it will be a huge moment i history... i swear
So Y'all ain't gonna talk about that sickening harmony she did while singing Bad Romance??? Gaga fans... Killed it AJayII..!!! And you better STAN FOR THE QUEEN BEY!!!
I love how you look up James Dean this episode LOL I've never noticed how much he is mentioned in all the music I listen to until now. It's awesome seeing you react to an album that was such a huge part of my life in high school Best TH-camr ever. Love what you do
Please listen to *Beauty Behind the Madness by The Weeknd* features artists like our one and only queen *Lana* but his best work is *_KISSLAND AND TRIOLOGY_*
My favorite songs from this album would be... 1 Bad Romance 2 Monster 3 Dance in the Dark 4 Teeth 5 Telephone 6 So happy I could die 7 Alejandro 8 Speechless
Electric Kiss I Wanna Be With You (iTunes Festival) *TOM FORD WOMENSWEAR SS16* Brooklyn Nights Electric Kiss is by far my FAVORITE track she's ever written. Her vocals are not only on point, but the lyrics are EVERYTHING she stands for and what I stan for. Here you realize she's truly an artist voicing for the voiceless. She's always been ahead of her time but it took dance music for people to realize it - which is kind of tragic. This track is 12 years old and it's still just as relevant. An anthem for the oppressed and the marginalized. "Consumed by all the pleasures in our midst" "Fame is our felony, we're so in love with it." Like seriously this woman is ART and you'll never convince me otherwise. I'm beyond happy to see her continue her advocacy for a better world. Her anti-bullying stance comes from being constantly bullied. She was even thrown in a dumpster once. 😢 Her women empowerment stems from being in the recording industry (& just being in society.) Where not only was she looked down on, but was raped by a record producer at the age of 19. (Also the reason why she sang Til It Happens to You.) The fact that she's a LGBT+ icon is no coincidence because she's been with them since her rise. They're the community that gave her her big break. They understood pop music wasn't just a way to forget about the struggles they were going through, but to bring us closer than ever. Her first performance on TV was for a gay/lesbian awards show. In fact, she also wore the iconic meat dress to the VMA's to bring back to light the issue pop culture was ignoring. *Don't Ask, Don't Tell* - the policy that required gay men/women to keep their 'gay identity' on the dl while they were fighting for 'Merica. Everything she has done has meaning. God bless Stefani Germanotta. God bless her for supporting teachers across America. God bless her for standing outside Trump Tower protesting our elections. God bless her for growing her own vegetables and riding her horse to her local stores. God bless her for helping teens find themselves in a world so stuck in the past. A.TRUE. FUCKING. VISIONARY. I Wanna Be With You (now Dope on ARTPOP) is directed to the Little Monsters who stuck by Gaga when she broke her hip during the Born This Way Ball Tour. At the time, she was smoking 15-20 joints a day to cope with the physical & emotional pain of canceling her tour. She really felt like she let down her fans but in the end she realized she was relying too much on the dank dank to hide from this pain. That's why she now sings "I need you (Little Monsters) more than Dope." By the way most Monsters left after the Born This Way era, which is a shame b/c ARTPOP is THE album that helped Gaga through her depression. Hence, the raging electronic and ejaculating beats that are present. It's filled with the anguish she endured/encountered just to put out music that speaks to her & her fans. Truly an underrated Little Monster anthem & album. The Tom Ford fashion film is Gaga's cover of Chic's 1978 hit I Want Your Love. It was produced by Nile Rogers (who is a part of Chic) & is probably one of the grooviest tracks Gaga has covered. A track that screams the #LG5 everyone was expecting. Rumor is Joanne was supposed to be a disco/dance album, but because Trump won and because of Bowie's passing she became aware her family is a far more important subject to tackle. *She wanted pop lovers to suffer the same way America is.* Don't get me wrong Joanne is a masterpiece, but we set expectations after this GEM. A true bop, with stunning models. Brooklyn Nights is THAT song. I'm sure everyone can agree that her management missed an opportunity when they didn't put this on ARTPOP. Then again her management at that time was very uptight about tarnishing her image, which she doesn't give a fuck about. Hell the chick never did. Either way, it's one of the tracks we're grateful she leaked and I can die happily now that the full length demo version is out. Thanks again AJay for your videos, they really do help people at bad times. Just seeing authentic people react to art is appealing for whatever reason. Probably because your personality is so pure and honest. ☕ Anyways sorry for the rambling but please don't let these songs go unnoticed. & please don't forget that Stefani is just another human being trying to encourage those who don't believe in themselves enough. She's created a support system that I'll always be grateful for. She's a pioneer of what an artist could be & I'll always be here to help us "live together in peace, love, solitude and happiness" Much appreciated and much love sis. - xoxo, a monster 💝😇
Brown Eyes (The Fame) is about her ex. Speechless (The Fame Monster) is about her father. The Edge of Glory (Born This Way) is about her late grandpa. Yoü & I (Born This Way) is about her ex too. Grigio Girl (Joanne) is about her bestfriend Sonja. Joanne (Joanne) is about her late aunt. Angel Down (Joanne) is about a boy that died in a tragedy but i forgot. And some also has secret thing if i'm not mistaken.
I just relistened to some of Lady Gaga's stuff after the big Janet v. Madonna debate. Lady Gaga really did change the way music sounded. This is her strongest dance-pop album. It reminded me of Erotica and Confessions on a dance floor. This was my favorite Lady Gaga dance-pop record. I also loved Kelis and Nas's dance-pop record during that year. Good memories!
Speechless is about her father not getting a surgery he needs to live. You can hear her say “You choose death and company” meaning that he was giving up but she is begging him to not give up

Uhm no.
AJayII dance in the dark best song ever
Agree
dmetria gtyuh i think the same
AJayII he is right thats why i like gaga those two songs are pretty dope
Dance in the Dark is one of the best songs by Gaga ever 🖤
Guuuuuuuurl, James Dean was BAAAAAAE. Watch him on the movie east of eden, he was so DAMN hot. He is so popular because he died at the age of 24 on a car accident, he only did 3 movies, but those movies are legendary.
I loved how you said "The Queen Lady Gaga"
Sebastian1623 more like Mother Monster Lady Gaga lol
She's not wrong. 😂😍💜
Speechless is about begging her dad to get open heart surgery to save his life.

Flashback to when I was 19 and listening to this album on repeat. I'm 27 now, gosh I feel so so old!

dance in the dark is about having sex in the dark, because you're too insecure about your body! And dancin in circles from Joanne is about masturbation so Gaga often uses the term of dance to talk about sex!
Teeth is also my favorite with so happy I could die, anyway I love you girl thanks for the good vibes!

My opinion of every track:
Bad Romance: *NO WORDS NEEDED*
Alejandro: Sounds so theatrical and danceable. Just love it
Monster: At first, kinda boring, but, it got better from the second chorus til' the end.
Don't ask me why.
luciano davila moonwalker hi
Don't you dare saying that about speechless😩
Hi, I am from Colombia. Please react to The Fame, Lady Gaga's first album. You're so cool.
Jhoan Trejos Cano Hace dos días lo hizo! Increíble.
si ya lo vi, ajajja gracias y fue genial me divertí mucho viendo esta mujer jajaaj
I always wondered if these names were random but now it all makes sense
OMGGG YAAAASS!! THAAANKK YOUUU NOW PLEASE LADY WOOD TOVE LO❤️❤️❤️
"I thought James Dean was Lana Del Rey's boyfriend or something"😂
He was a dream for his time...sadly he only lived as short as one.
"damn, I shouldn't be laughing but poor Alejandro, god damn, I hope he found love" jdjdjdjd LOVE HER.
I loved Teeth by, its my fav song on the album, idk why everyone hates it.
Just like Jewels n' Drugs, everyone hates it but i love it
Fernando Salvador Arellano -me too!!
i love it too but i get why some people don't like it because it's too repetitive
I like Teeth but the beat is literally the SAME for the whole song. If it was a little more diverse I'd like it more and it would be iconic!

I really admire how you remember specific song after a really long time like you do to ARTPOP's "Do What U Want" ❤
the songs may not be "timeless", but what people have to remember is that these songs were the START. Before Just Dance, even when Bad Romance was released, pop music didn't sound like this. She singlehandedly took the genre in a completely new direction, so props definitely have to be given to these songs.
Wdym dude, these are timeless...it´s 2021 and i´m still bopping to it. Pop at it´s finest...
@@SK-ou2wv she truly is, but even as a hardcore fan since pretty much day one I can acknowledge some of the early songs have aged 💀 but they’re still iconic tbh.

So Happy I Could Die, is about have an a addiction to alcohol, the girl she talks it's a metaphor to alcohol
This album is full of songs with double meanings, what's on the surface but mainly about:
1. “Bad Romance”- Fear of Love
2. “Alejandro”- Fear of Men
3. “Monster”- Fear of Sex
4. “Speechless”- Fear of Death
5. “Dance In The Dark”- Fear of Self/Judgement
6. “Telephone”- Fear of Suffocation
7. “So Happy I Could Die”- Fear of Addiction
8. “Teeth”- Fear of Truth
The real little monsters know that Gaga is much better than Joanne even with it being a good album. The fame monster is arguably her best work. And has always been praised. Not necessarily my fav of hers because for me it's between ARTPOP & Born This Way
so the album should be called the dark side of Fame or fear the fame
Justin Pineda I haven't seen the songs the way u explained them until now... Adding "fear" to their context gives more geniality to "The Fame Monster" and Gaga too
910204david My favourite is absolutely ARTPOP, I felt like Born This Way had so many fillers that I couldn't enjoy the album as a whole... But let's face it every Gaga album is iconic in its own way and deserves to be celebrated
Justin Pineda haha sameee
Fabio its called the fame ''monster'' for something lol.... ppl are usually afraid of monsters so each song its a monster/fear.
I was literally cheering you on while you were ranting about Bad Romance.
And pissed off while you were ranting about James Dean.
Lady Gaga is very wise. I love her. She’s so inspirational.
Do Britney's Blackout!
Her reaction for "don't call me Gaga" was hilarious 😂
Please react to Cheek to cheek album by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet!
Gaga has always been a genuis...people just had to catch up with her intelligence ... They didn't appreciate artpop when it came out now they see it as her best album... There will be a time that people will learn who revolutionary gaga was/is to music... and it will be a huge moment i history... i swear

Electric Kiss is by far my FAVORITE track she's ever written.
