EAS Compilation! - So... Many... Tornado Warnings...

- Got another EAS Compilation for you folks. We had some severe storms move through my area on Memorial Day. It all kicks off around 3:45 PM and goes until around 5:30 PM. Sorry about the first few warnings how the WR-120 had a glare on the screen. That's because my drapes were open and I didn't realize that it was causing that glare.
There are some parts where I leave the radio's audio on, that is so you can listen to the severe weather statements, I wish they would activate the radios for those statements, but they don't. A tornado briefly touched down west of Dyer, IN as you can hear in one of the severe weather statements. TH-cam link for videos of that tornado: www.youtube.co...

Too many tornado storms
Its because they issued an update for that tornado warning, tornado warnings take full priority on the weather broadcast, earlier in the video during a severe tstorm warning, you can hear it stop short for a tornado warning, its to get the message out faster

In the past year, Indianapolis has only had two tornadoes. On June 15th 2019, a Tornado Warning was issued for SE Marion and SW Hancock. I was telling my dad about it but after the first sentence, our phones went off. On April 8th 2020, a Tornado Warning was issued for SW Marion, Morgan, Rush, and Shelby counties. I was in the shower. I got out of the shower, and I heard strong winds. I wrap a towel round my waist and I go downstairs to see whats going on. I come down to the EAS on my screen saying "Tornado Warning". I rush upstairs, put on clothes, grab my radio, and I dart downstairs and sit down to watch the news. I then found out its not for **my** part of the county, then I go upstairs, and I record multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
Oh god man! That must’ve been pretty scary, being in a shower when an EAS or tornado/severe storm thing goes off is my biggest fear!
@@mikasa9167 My Sangean shower radio has Weather Alert capability so I'd have that covered, but I'd take a *very* quick shower!

Hey @NWIN Weather. This is Tyler here. I am away from school due to the pandemic. Next Wednesday is the last Wednesday of May. On the last Wednesday of each month, my emergency managers in Maryland conducted a Required Monthly Test (RMT). And every Wednesday between 11am and noon, my local NWS office conducts the weekly test. If you’re interested, I plan on filming both tests next Wednesday. Have a great Memorial Day weekend! My relatives live near Celina and we went to visit them. It was chaos out there. I pray for the people in Celina and all other people affected by the storm.

I remember the time at my aunt's house in 2015 or 2016, we were watching a show and a tornado warning showed up, like the old colorful one with a Blue Text On the bottom, I thought I was gonna die, but we had got to a room with no windows and me and my cousin slept in that room. (This was in Memphis, TN)
I feel that WR-120's are really underrated. Had the WR-400 not have existed, this would be my favorite radio.

My little WR120 has never let me down, man. Had it for several years and she's gotten me through several outbreaks. They're solid little radios.
I went with the 120, because I personally have no need for the extra features on the 400.

No, hearing the voice and tones, the rush of adrenaline, it's great, I have a habit now where I listen to my weather radio in the morning for the forecast instead of the weather Channel app

Outch glad I live in Florida my dad lives in Kansas City surprisingly my step mom Lisa looks up the history of Kansas City they have not have had one tornado in it’s entire history that’s a pleasant surprise but they do have severe storms with big hail my dad’s truck has some pretty big dents thank god it’s an older truck so it’s not totaled ping pong ball size hail Outch I would cry if I saw a Mustang get totaled by hail like that no thanks I’ll live here in Florida and put up with hurricanes
I remember on Saturday I was driving in Porter County Indiana and I got a tornado warning while we were driving I’m the highway and I actually heard the tornado sirens
I think Mother Nature was having too much fun that day
My roommate and I are now living in Princeton, Indiana, previously lived in Fairdale, Kentucky, my roommate previously lived in Pleasure Ridge Park and before that he lived in the Lake Dreamland portions of Louisville, Kentucky.

I caught 2 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in Florida and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and 1 alert i missed was the Special Marine Warning in Florida on 4/11/21

I had one in April 2020, August 2016, and November 17, 2013, and another one I don’t remember the date on.
I don’t remember this date as much as 8/24/2016 or the day before Good Friday 2020.
This right here is what happens when storm trackers/chasers with SKYWARN like me see trouble & will immediately call the National Weather Service directly on the phone or by HAM radio. We send them direct proof of the event taking place. We give them our spotter ID which allows the EAS to be triggered with the specific tag "Confirmed Tornado." For so & so location. If you receive a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning more than likely it's because a storm spotter/chaser has seen something 2/3 of the time.
You will receive these warning through your phones, radios, or through TV.
I honestly can't handle having 2 WR120s. I cannot stand how loud they were. I have one that I have on screen mode because it basically screams when there is a warning.

I just had the emergency alert system header just got one severe thunderstorm warning one day ago at night forgot to make video because I was about to go to bed
By the way did the sirens go go off for porter county
I would imagine they did for the area that was affected by the warning around the 23-minute mark. Porter County is really good about activating the sirens.

I remember my first really vivid tornado I experienced. I have been in other tornadoes, but they weren’t too vivid. In August 10, 2020, i was outside. The winds were suddenly very calm, and I felt really suspicious. My siblings and I were pretending a tornado was going on, ironically. We went inside because it felt cool all of a sudden and our stomachs told us to go inside.
I was actually watching my local news when I went inside! (Channel 16, I think.) they said there was a slim chance for a tornado but I felt really scared. There was a high chance for a tstorm and while I was playing outside there was a severe tstorm!
I got scared so I stood up and grabbed my pillow. Not even 2 seconds later ALL of the phones went off. It was my first time actually hearing that sound when a tornado happened. I looked at the tv and it said “tornado warning” in my county. I yelled, TORNADO!
My mom came out of the shower and was confused. I told her there’s a tornado.
I started crying and yelling bc it gave me anxiety. My basement is actually outside and my basement isn’t even save since there’s not too much protection or walls. There was a bed there and I sat down on it, praying for it to be over. Suddenly the winds picked up.
Then it just..stopped? I found that odd but it hailed and was thundering (not lighting)
Our phones went off but my parents thought it was over. I told them, “no! Please! It’s not over yet!!”
They went back up and I was wayyyyy too scared to be down there alone, so I went back up.
An eerie day. It was just an ef0!

why do you need 2 weather radios? is the left or right radio the one that you usually use, while a different radio is a backup if the other one gets broken?

I decoded the header of the first alert and its not a TOR its a TOA. Basically its a tornado watch. Not warning

When both get activated it indicates that the alert was for my county. You also can't tell which radio the voice comes from and that's due to both talking at the same time.

Both radios do have backup batteries in the event that the power goes out. (3 AAs)

why you need two radios and the worse tornado to hit caddo county were i live was in 1993 which had a ef5 which had winds upto 315 mph and 2013 lasted up to two days did miss my town but hit the other towns
What does tornado watch 263 mean
I'm pretty sure the #263 part means it's the 263rd Tornado Watch (or Watch in general, not 100% sure which it is) issued by the storm prediction center that year.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much to see outside in this event. All the storms past to my north and the north sky is blocked by trees and houses.

I have a NOAA radio the model iis wr 400 It’s the best desktop NOAA weather radio I got mine off of my local Best Buy for $70
So let me tell you a story it was a dark October night pouring rain storming and I had a severe thunderstorm watch and I started thinking oh my It's hailing so this might be a tornado soon and my freind said is there green skies and I said kinda and next thing you know my weather radio goes off for a tornado warning.

@@periquitovalenciaelmusic9593 That is part of the WR broadcast, some lower end radios sound an alarm for this tone! These radios decode the headers at the beginning
