Wait a moment? Comic creators talking about the culture war but in a grown up and insightful way. This will never do.😂 Another great Millar time.

Chuck Dixon on a three-year run of Captain America or two years on the Fantastic Four would be phenomenal.

It almost happened years ago when Microsoft was going to get into television/movie studios. These was a deal but then the division got scrapped. This was back in the x-box 360 days, I think.

Chuck Dixon is the man! I enjoyed so much of his stuff for so many years and was a bit sad the big two shunned him. It really didn't make any sense to me because I never felt him ever, ever pushing any sort of agenda on me. His work was just really great storytelling!

A 3 year run on Captain America is a great idea. Marvel have nothing to lose right now making that investment.

Absolutely spot on, there are very few good runs now, just 6 issues or 12 then restart, there are no such things as legendary runs.

I’ve said this before but I think we as people have lost the ability to disagree but still respect each other
This next generation are so emotionally immature and if things don’t go there way or don’t think the way they do they revert to trying to cancel or even go as far as violence
Hopefully in comics we are starting to see a pushback in this
    Excellent discussion again Mark

Stallone's actorial rewriting sounds okay, but nothing compared to Rutger Hauer's excellent rewrites for the 1992 science fiction classic Split Second, which made the film's director have a kind of nervous breakdown and quit, leaving others to finish the masterpiece off. Wikipedia says the film is only popular due to its "unintentionally hilarious" nature, but Wikipedia are simply philistines. What other film ends with the hero and heroine getting blasted clear of an explosion, landing on the floor, and then they start getting off with each other? No other film has that. And Rutger Hauer wrote that Blade Runner end speech too - that's like the third best thing he did, after this and Hobo With A Shotgun. RIP Rutger, too brilliant for this sad reality!

Can the interviews please be extended from an hour. A lot of the first hour is creating the rhythm of the convo and then when it starts really hitting a stride it feels like it immediately ends. Really enjoyed the interview though.
I'm really enjoying your interviews so far. I think yours is going to become one of my favorites next to Cartoonist Kayfabe and DanielFee33. I just wish there was more interest from the fans in the actual creators and comic book history.
Lastly, one creator I really want to hear from is Marjorie Liu. Her book Monstress is one of my favorite comics coming out and I really haven't heard much from her about it. As well as Joelle Jones. Who had controversy recently which I think was blown out of proportion would be good to hear from. As far as some older heads that are great....maybe Mike Grell or maybe Janette Khan or Karen Berger.Just some ideas.

Maybe if they hired Mark Millar to take over Marvel Heroes Reborn/Marvel Knights style, Marvel wouldn't suck. We could get Chuck back on Punisher, doing Cap and FF. Millar has already done X-men, but what about Millar doing Thor or Hulk? Heck....maybe they can bring back John Romita Jr back to Thor and Punisher too.

There are stories of people in the industry ganging up on and trying to "cancel" other creators in the industry back then. When people say it's a new thing I can't help but think of Michael Fleischer. The only thing different about right now is social media making it all even more public. The only reason we even know about that one is because of a court case. It was pretty public, though, since it involves interviews and panels at cons.

  • @timgonzales2891

Somebody within the industry actually acknowledging Dixons greatness? We can't have that.
His era of bat books, with denny editing, was the greatest bat family era to me, bar none. Yes, better than what Miller or morrison or even denny himself did

Babe Race 2000 got me into comics and ruined me for anything else - to my generation of pre-adolesents who were raised on 18 certificate movies - ultra violence and big-tittied-porno-bitches was my ultimate jam. Years later reading authority transfer power and connecting the point that same guy wrote both was totally mind blowing.

  • @AheadOfTheWolves
    @AheadOfTheWolves ปีที่แล้ว +2

Chuck sounds so reasonable here about political differences... until you remember that he's buddies with a literal NEO-NAZI.
I don't throw that word around lightly. Dixon claims he didn't know that when he went to work for Vox Day, but when he was informed, rather than saying "ok, there has to be a line drawn somewhere, thank you for letting me know, now I'm not going to align myself with blatant racism" he doubled down, played the victim, and kept writing a book that promoted Qanon.

Although I'm not sure about that specific label, it seems at very least a matter of "not a NN, _but..."_ kind of thing, technicalities or a gray area the "a-right" vs "a-lite" thing. A rather sad and disappointing association, nevertheless, even if not eerily aligned with views of NNs, other quotes from him one can find are often just like what one would imagine of lazy parodies of "harder" RW-thought. I'm no conservative or RWr, but how I wish there were more sane and morally defensible RWs/conservatives (to whom the association with NNs would be just untenable, as they'd be also opposing them, and not just by saying BS like "Ns were really left-wingers") instead of this bunch that seems to have become mainstream and near-mainstream recently. Weird times.
