In the University version you can use it online or download a .dmg for the Mac and actually install it on up to five computers.
I still use the Office 2k that came with my old Presario desktop.
Don't know what these newer versions have that 2k doesn't.

I used the Office 365 for Education. I moved schools but luckily my old school gave me an email and they did get the license. I am currently going to an online school but there are many things that I can not open without office installed so thank you so much :). To be fair the online school should really buy the license for the students since it is not a free tuition but oh well.
You can also use the mobile apps on any Windows 10 PC. They are optimized for mobile and touch, but do work on the desktop as well.

Just for clarification, when Microsoft made Office available for the iOS, it was one app the featured the suite. This ended in 2015 with the release of the individual apps.

Turns out my university did buy license for its students and faculty members but they never told us about it, maybe they did, I didn't pay attention. They announce a lot of stuff on the official university site, not all of us keep track of all that stuff.

A 30-day free trial doesn't sound like much time to get familiar with the product, apart from Word. Too bad MS scrapped MS Works (for home use) that used to be pre-installed with Windows.
since at work I can use any word processor and spreadsheet, I totally switched to libreoffice some years ago, and when you have compatibility issues which is rare i use wps office

Matt, LibreOffice was at the top of my list of best alternatives a few months back, but of course it is not as good as MS Office yet.

I'm using libre office. It has spelling check but no grammar check??? I wrote grammatically wrong sentences for testing if it works very well and I don't see grammar check works anyway. What do you guys do about this?

All the Microsoft office apps for Android. Already comes installed on Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, and Note 8 as full version. Might come on other Android phones to. But I'm not sure
Also, check with your employer. If your company uses Office365, you might be allowed to download the apps for free. Many employers are part of a Microsoft program that allows employees to purchase Office for about $10. While this isn't free, it's pretty close when you consider the cost of the full blown versions.

I discovered this while I was attending school. I'd download all of their offered versions of Operating Systems too, haha! Might as well, with all that money you pay them in tuition.
My problem is I use Access a lot - which doesn't come for free anywhere these days - good to know theres free options there for others though
I use Kingsoft office, it is totally free and far better than Windows Office as it resides on your desktop or laptop, not online where it can be accessed by others. WPS or Kingsoft Office is my go-to program because I can use it fully even when there is no internet connection. I have a copy of Windows Office that I own bought years ago and still does what any word processing program can do, with out being totally reliant on having an internet connection. There is zero reason that a word processing program needs to be accessible by others online or off. Always make sure what you use can be used when there is no connection to the outside world and resides solely on a system under your full control.

No longer valid. I've had Office 2013 on my machine from when I got it [installed, usable, but not activated]- now it's given me a 30 day countdown to purchase a new activation code... that is no longer available. May end up having to switch to Office Online
I had 2019 version then I bought a new macbook pro but I can't use it because it says "No license found" when I am asked to sign in with my account in order to activate it. Guysssss what do I do I need MS asap.

Another way is to link your phone to your pc and download the mobile apps. This gives a full, free version of Office

Lourdes, You can get Publisher 2016 as part of the free trial in this video. Other than that, I'm not aware of any SAFE ways to get it for free.

Morph in PowerPoint is only available in activated 365 Office or in 2019 version. Yes you can use Morph in 365 trial but it's only 30 days....

You can get the Office apps Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for free on the iPhone and iPad. But if you have an iPad Pro you have to subscribe to Office 365 in order to be able to create and edit files.
This is because Microsoft assumes that if you are using a device with a screen bigger than 10.1 inches you are using it for professional purposes. These Microsoft business people became really smart; didn’t they? Thank you Apple for the less greedy apps like Pages and Numbers.

I deleted my office from my computer because I thought I would't need it but when I did I completely regretted it. Is there a way to get it back. I forgotten the email that i used when I first opened the computer. Is there a way to find it? also what is the default email they require you to use when first creating an account? EX(gmail,hotmail,yahoo,etc) Do they use microsoft,outlook?
Wish I could help you with that. You can basically use any email now to create an account. If you remember when you created your account, that might narrow down what email account you used. Good luck!

Is there a way to integrate office online with google drive? Like dropbox opens .docx files in office word online, can i open a .docx file saved in google drive in office word online instead of google docs?
That would be complicating things since Office Online natively saves files to One Drive. You can now view .docx files in Google Drive but can't edit with Office Online via Google Drive. You may want to check out free software like LibreOffice or WPS Office which have good compatibility with MS Office.

Hey TechGumbo, I have a friend who has a pc with amd ryzen threadripper 1800x. But I found Intel i9 on Amazon. I know that both are very good. But please suggest me a processor between these which is good in comparison to the other.
CPU pricing is high right now because of bit coiners. A good mid-range CPU is the Intel i5-7600k.

There are no legal or safe methods I can show. LibreOffice and WPS Office are very good alternatives that are free forever. 🙂

Or just to start one? - can you open eg an excel spreadsheet on wifi at home, save it to your laptop/mobile and then work on it offline later? once you save it you can use it offline as well
+Kiwi 81 Rohan is correct. To edit that saved document, you will need to be online or have the paid desktop version of Office to edit offline.
TechGumbo The beta version is decent but not as good as the updated version. The beta version does not have ads. I have been using it for a few years now. What I like about WPS is that more documents can be opened in the same window instead of separate windows like in Word.
