Brilliant! Informative about the Rolex range and honest to boot. Especially the last 10 minutes as to the real "why" and "how" to buy a luxury watch. Nothing is financially sadder than a "man" with a payment on his Rolex, a lease on his BMW, and a HELOC in addition to the mortgage on his refinanced home. Top marks. Very enjoyable.

I prefer Patek Phillips, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet. But then again, living in Geneva, you are spoilt for choice. Really recommend anyone who visits Geneva to visit the Patek Phillips museum or the many boutique watch makers in this small city!

Joseph Bentley I have a Patek Philippe watch and few Rolexes, a few Omegas, and others. The Patek Philippe is obviously the most valuable and expensive, I only wear it during very special occasions. But there’s something about Rolex that makes it fun to wear

Simply the best Video on watches I have seen on YT, a few years ago I inherited a rolex from my grandfather but my parents didnt tell me. When I became an adult though they told me and I became really fascinated by the watch. I now own a Submariner and I am never going to get rid of it. Thx for the video it is the ultimate guide, I would love if you were to do a similar Video for some other Brands such as Breitling, IWC, Omega?

Lechilla93 Breitling is a garbage watch. They lose 30-50 percent just when you walk out the store with a new one. A watch is not an investment but when you drop 5k+ on a watch go with a solid brand. Patek Philipe, Jaeger Lê Coutre, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex. If you buy anything else buy used.

Thank you for a very insightful video. I have a question. I remember hearing that a formal watch should have black leather strap with white face and very clean/simple case with almost no decoration. Since most Rolexes do not fit this criteria, is it correct to assume that most of these well known Rolex models are not preferable for formal events?

Hi Anthony, great video! Buying Yacht Master first was a good move!!! I think you missed just one but very important thing: Rolex new Rolex Superlative Chronometer Standard (introduced in 2016) which is -2 to +2 seconds per day which is better then traditional Swiss Chronometer certification they used before (-4 to +6 seconds). Sets them apart from most by far... Certainly more luxury watch videos!!! Omega, Breitling and also some higher ends such as Patek, JLC and AP.

I have a (sort-of) watch collection and 3 out of the four watches I have are Rolexes. After I graduated college my dad gave me his old day date and ever since I've been in love with the brand. The quality and craftsmanship is fantastic. My dad's that I received as a gift is 10+ years old, been serviced once, and the thing runs like a charm! In my opinion if you're looking to get into the world of luxury watches, a Rolex should be the first watch you pick up (or an Omega if you don't have that much money.)

Hi, love the great overview in a way that fits the channel. One thing that i thought might have been relevant is the current state of Rolex stainless steel sports models that you would be "lucky" to get at retail because the grey market prices are at times even double or triple the normal retail. Reason i bring this up is because the way it sounds from the video is that potential buyers should be looking for deals even at an AD when in the current market, finding these sports models like the Daytona, GMT, Submariner and even the Explorer may already be equivalent to what used to be a discount. Anyway, great video as always, just my two cents! Thanks for all your content.

There are very reputable secondary market dealers that sell preowned Rolexes or other luxury watches. I think by law they have to list the watches as preowned but many are bought at an AD, sold or flipped to a grey market dealer and actually have never been worn. Most secondary market Rolexes are more expensive than retail, they are the ones that have long waiting lists at ADs. I personally don't think eBay is a reliable place to buy watches. Prestige Time and Watchbox are terrific. As you mentioned even if it is not the manufacture warranty get all box and papers, hang tags etc. It helps to insure the watch is authentic and helps if you want to sell it later. Good vid. Forgot to mention Bob's watches, great place to get a preowned Rolex.

Little known update on you fact. All employees get a 50% discount on a watch! But you need atleast 4 years with them and it only counts on the non sports models. So basically just your OP’s , Datejusts , Cellini’s.

Love the video. A couple of names where wrongly pronounced (Cellini, and Milgauss), also Rolex does not make all their parta in house, for example, the hands. All in all a great video overall

    Great video Antonio!
It's just a shame that some models are never available in store if you are a new collector (i.e. no past experience with the authorized dealer). Some potential long term watch collectors are being put into 3-10 year waiting lists just to get the watch they want (steel Submariner, Pepsi GMT/Batman and Daytona). This is just not acceptable for a luxury brand.
This really kills it for me as I want the experience of buying brand new. It's a real shame, because it is impossible for a watch lover to buy a brand new steel Submariner, GMT or Daytona in store and remember that moment for the rest of their life.
Grey market dealers are the ones to blame. Some old clients just order dozens of watches only to resell at an insane profit. I would never feed that mindset! Let's hope Rolex fixes this!

RMP1 you must have lots of money if you want to “collect” Rolexes. LOL 🤗👍

Buy a platinum Daytona and you get what you want. If you have no money for it I don’t think the AD wants you as a customer

    • @ruimpinho
      @ruimpinho 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Darren Toh Well... give me the name of one buyer that got a Platinum Daytona as his first Rolex. 🙂 No one starts a collection with the most valuable stuff. As a costumer, I would never walk into any AD to get a 30-50k watch without past experience. Maybe some Datejusts. Moreover, the only models I truly appreciate are the Submariner and Daytona. Maybe the GMT BLNR. No one wants to buy 5-10 watches they don't like only to get into a "list" to acquire the models they really wanted in the first place. Tough situation for true appreciators of watchmaking and craftsmanship because sadly there's too many people trying to make a quick buck with these models.

RMP1 actually I did it, the platinum Daytona is only like 90k+ and I got a a lot of the other sport model and sold it all for a profit

Antonio, when you went to buy your Rolex, did you first have to go on a waiting list?
