You are an angel, sir. I've got enough on my plate and with a check engine light on and a desperately needed oil change, I was thinking I needed a new car when my hood wouldnt open, but I got it with this video. Many thanks
Thankfully, I did not need to crawl under the 2003 Nissan Frontier. But taping open my hatch lever (to high up to hold open with anything) and then trying to pry open the hood did the trick! Thank you!
Thanks for the quick tips. I propped the hood latch open with a drum brake tool. Before that I was about to break my hands beating on it trying to nock it loose 😂
Thank you I had an accident yesterday and this helped me get my hood open lol body shop was gonna charge me 3,200$ for a hood and bumper replacement lol
Nice. Dunno what stuck it but leaving the lever pulled worked. Stuck my screwdriver thru between the cable and plastic since I didn't have one the exact size handy.
If you have a helper that could pull the hood latch release (from inside the vehicle) and keep tension on it while you try to open the hood from the outside (front of vehicle)… If you Don have a helper, use a screwdriver 🪛 to prop up the hood release latch from inside the vehicle…. If the above didn’t work then I would crawl under the front of vehicle and use pliers, needle nose pliers or channel locks to pull cable from underneath where the cable meets the spring on the hood latch itself…Good luck!
i have a 2005 nissan tiida and the battery is dead flat, i cant get into the car with the key fob button or manual key - the lock wont open. I think my best bet is to open the bonnet from outside car and replace battery, any idea how i can open the bonnet from outside car?
It could possibly be the battery in the key fob is dead…If that’s not the case, if you can safely get under the car and find the cable from the hood latch, using pliers you can pull on the cable and it should unlock the hood….Good luck!
I just made a call today to AAA to jump my 2010 Escape b/c the battery dies if I don't start it every couple of days. This isn't a huge problem b/c I do have a Nissan Frontier and can use that to jump it, however, the latch did exactly as yours did. Now I am going to go find something to prop the latch and see if that works. Lost my husband last year so lost my mechanic for our old crappy vehicles as well as our income so having to do everything as cheap as I can. Thank you for making this video. Do you have one showing the spring replacement and did that do the trick?
Hi, thanks for watching.....I’m sorry for your loss 🙏......I do have a video, “HOW TO REPLACE THE HOOD LATCH ON A NISSAN SENTRA”....It should be a similar fix....
If car was recently worked on and the hood release cable sleeve was not seated in the bracket but the cable is still in the leaver you can pull down on the cable to release the hood.
How can rust get in your eyes when it's all made of plastic. Even all the fasteners are plastic. Basically a plastic coffin made to throw away after 3 years if you make it that long.
To all of the people who make “How To” videos............”You The Real M.V.P.s”👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
YOUR TECHNIQUE IS HELPFUL TO OPEN HOOD WHILE OTHERS ARE NOT . THANKS A LOT.
You’re welcome....Glad it helped!

Glad you got the hood opened.
Any ideas when the hood safety latch lever won't let you raise the hood?

My IS A 96 200SX & HANLDE ON INSIDE BY YOUR LEFT FOOT FEELS UNATTACHED ANY IDEAS ?
Could be the spring under the hood failed.
Sir thank you so much thats helped me a lot.
God bless you🌹
Thank you for the nice comment...I’m glad my video helped!!
Thanks for this, but what if the cable has become detached from the plastic release lever within the cabin?
Simply re attach it
HOW do u reattache ?
If car was recently worked on and the hood release cable sleeve was not
seated in the bracket but the cable is still in the leaver you can pull
down on the cable to release the hood.
Short answer, yes.....But I would use pliers to pull on cable so you don’t cut your fingers.
Where? Interior?
@@michelerussell7301 From under the car, had a rod with a hook to pull down on the cable inside the hood latch mechanism. Not easy.
Thanks for the help.
Glad my video helped!
You’re a life saver ty
You’re welcome! Glad it worked!
Any ideas how to open it if my inside cable is broken?
We have a 95 chevy truck you can see the cable into the housing but the housing is facing like the other way cannot see any levers what to do?
I would have to look at it to see what you’re describing...You can take it to a reputable mechanic to have it fixed. Good luck!
I'm having the same problem. I didn't notice anything broken, but will look more closely as I get time.
Good luck!

I’ve gotten 17 years out of mine, so I’m ahead of the game.
