He explains how *vedic wisdom* became the very foundation of Yoga, through the *introversion of vedic ritual.* So, vedic devas are very important to yoga's background. But Yoga doesn't really care if you are religious or not. Freedom comes first. I think you might misunderstood him because yoga does not talk about *devas in a religious sense,* although a Hindu might find Yoga Darshana to be very fulfilling: It opens a broad perspective of the divine, outside us and within.
