I feel the backstory about album posted by sufjan on instagram might add depth to your feelings and thoughts on lyrics, you might not be aware about. The album is influenced by Sufjan's partner's passing this year and is dedicated to him. It's also a tough time for sufjan recovering from an auto-immune disorder he got affected by this year as well, locomotion based on wheelchairs.
You should definitely check his The Age of Adz album! My prediction is that it won't top this album for you but it has a good chance of becoming your 2nd favourite of Sufjan's. It's his most experimental and uncoventional album. It has plenty of moments similar to the climax of Goodbye Evergreen which I think is a great thing. I wonder where this one will rank in your upcoming top 40 video, btw :) Other recommendations: Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica Nirvana - Nevermind Portishead - Third
this album is such a return to form for sufjan and im so happy hes making the best music ever again, alot of people have recommended age of adz which is definitely a album u should listen to but id also recommend the Ascension which is maybe sufjans most electronic album to date. and also Michigan which is sufjans first proper amazing album and it almost combines the best elements of Illinois and carrie and lowell. and my last recommendation for sufjan would be seven swans which is maybe his most "folk" album id almost compare it to pink moon by nick drake at points and also its a heavily Christian album so id be intrested to see ur opinions on his outlook on that. amazing video as per usual ❤ PS sufjan is a Christian hes mentioned a couple times hes very religious, he is also a gay man.
Javelin has turned into one of my top 3 sufjan albums, right under The Age Of Adz for me. Which is another album you should check out! Javelin is just a masterpiece, i love every single song to death. Shit Talk is one of the best songs he's ever written in my opinion.
Joanna Newsom - Ys, Have One On Me , Divers Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues, Selftitled Father John Misty - Pure Comedy, I love you honeybear. The Microphones - Mount Eerie Swans - The Glowing Man, The Seer.
Hiya I feel if you want to look into Sufjans music with more religious themes, listen to Seven Swans, its a really nice indie folk album from the early times in his career :)
you should definitely check out “just got back from the discomfort” by the brave little abacus, legit one of the most creative and interesting sounding albums to ever exist

Hello! I love Sufjan and Javelin is most certainly my favorite album of the year. Thank you for reacting to it & i really enjoyed the video! Just wanted to let you know that im loving your channel!!! I was wondering if perhaps you could react to another album from Yes? I love both Close to the Edge and Fragile, but some of their work post 1972 after Close to the Edge just prior to their 1978 album "Tormato" are equally, if not more, incredible. Albums like "Tales of Topographic Oceans", and my two personal favorite Yes albums "Relayer" and "Going For the One"! As masterful as "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge" are, some of their best & truly most transcendent work awaits you! Along with this, I think you wound undoubtedly enjoy the band Van Der Graaf Generator, particularly their albums "Pawn Hearts" and "Still Life". They are on the darker end of the prog sphere, but their albums are as equally technically ambitious as some of Yes' or King Crimson. Of all the music i have listened to, Van Der Graaf's might not only be the darkest and rawest in terms of sound, but also the most thought provoking. (their album "Pawn Hearts" is perfect for a Halloween reaction, btw) anyways thank you so much for reading & have an awesome week! Thought id give a shoutout to these truly incredible, lifechanging albums!
I've recommended this album already, but I'll do it again: Giles Corey by Giles Corey. It's a project started by Dan Barrett, who also worked on Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness. Giles Corey is another very dark album thematically, but imo has more colorful production, feeling very folksy at times.
a little bit of constructive criticism, I said it in my earlier comment too but there are some albums for which no prior reading is necessary. But there are others which quite literally change everything if you know the context (Ants from Up There is one such album) and this is another one I think. So perhaps, if it doesn't go against how you like to listen to music, a cursory glance of the Genius page for the album or some reading (even if it's 1-2 mins of a quick search) of an album before you react to it might be something to think about moving forward. Like imagine Carrie + Lowell without knowing it's about his mother's passing versus going into it knowing that already (I've watched your reaction to that album too of course and loved your reaction). I think it would make for a better reaction personally :))
thank you, I may start doing that for some albums to grasp a general concept. I just usually don't like spoiling that much information beforehand but I think it would be nice so I'm never way off on what an album is about
@@smags1082 yeah dude, and going in blind is how some people like it so you do you but as someone who loves your reactions, I thought I'd give my thoughts on that :)) Thank you again and look forward to more reactions from ya!
good reaction! few reccomendations: Everything Everything: Get to Heaven Squid: Bright Green Field or O Monolith Masayoshi Takanaka: Seychelles or The Rainbow Goblins
Someone else already suggested it in this comment section, but I recommend “Just Got Back From the Discomfort - We’re Alright” by Brave Little Abacus. Great as always!
Love the videos! A few recommendations: Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Nurture - Porter Robinson (light summer electric with fun production) Koi No Yokan or White Pony - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop)
Would be really fun to see you listen to the new Jane Remover album Census Designated, its a shoegaze album that i think youd like a lot based on how much you liked souvlaki
Hey if u enjoyed the feel of songs like I’ll be your mirror and Femme fatale on the banana album you would LOVE chelsea girl by nico it’s by the girl who sang those songs and it’s beautiful definitely reccomend

So You Are Tired and Shit Talk are two all time Sufjan songs. Just an incredible album overall.
Definitely two of the Sufjan songs of all time

Hey David! Just wanted to leave a comment. Been enjoying your reactions. I find them entertaining and authentic. Keep it up!
If you love a meditative and folk record for you id recommend "live at japan 2002.9.16" performed by Jim Orourke. its simply beautiful!
The last song is actually a Neil Young cover.
