favorite album of the year, im a HUGE sufjan fan so i was excited as soon as it was announced. i listened to the album fully the night before Sufjan posted his dedication to his late partner, and when i saw it the next day my heart broke. I listened to the album again and every song sounded completely different and hit differently then when i first heard them. you can feel how much love he had for his partner in every song. loved your reaction!
Comparing it to his earlier grief inspired album "Carrie and Lowell" this one really seems more hopeful or kind of more mature. Heartbreaking none the less. Thx for your reaction! :)
Hey! Great Reaction as always. To answer your question about film score, he did 3 songs for Call Me by Your Name. Those were Mystery of Love (which got an Oscar nomination), Visions of Gideon (the song that plays over the credits of that movie), and Futile Devices (which was a remix of the opening track on his album Age of Adz). His song Chicago is also featured in many TV and movies like Little Miss Sunshine so you may have heard this song elsewhere. Chicago is from maybe his most acclaimed album, Illinois, and I would absolutely recommend you check that out too. He's also done a lot of instrumental work including a score for a ballet, but not a complete film score as far as I'm aware. Also, his first name is pronounced like soof-yahn, but it is super tricky! Again, thanks for an awesome reaction!
Oh my God… I’m so dumb… how did I forget this?! His music in CMBYN is beyond anything and I listened to it on REPEAT after watching the movie 😭😭😭 Cannot believe I forgot it was him… wow ha. Thank you for the info! Didnt know he did other movies too - makes perfect sense of course!!! And thanks for the name sound out haha! Next reaction of his I’ll get it right! ❣️❣️
i really love how well the production and instrumentals hit you! even though you thought your reaction may have been subdued i think your feelings in the moment still came across really well, which was very satisfying to watch
@@bennshoutsAbsolut brilliant, I work in a digital music magazine from México and even our AOTY was Desire I Want To Turn Into You from Caroline Polachek (That I Also love) , this was my personal favorite.
This was such a sweet reaction and made me really wanna recommend his collaboration with Angelo de Augustine called “A Beginner’s Mind” ! It’s just as beautiful and whimsical, and has a fun little concept since they wrote it together during the pandemic while basically confining themselves in a cabin and watching movies every night after days of songwriting, so every song ended up being inspired by a different film! If you love this vibe of Sufjan’s music then you gotta check it out next!! Thanks for all the great reactions this year, can’t wait to listen along with you in the new year :)
I purchased and listened to “A beginners mind” and, never hearing Angelo De Augustine before, my mouth literally dropped open. What a BEAUTIFUL voice! I then went out and purchased his music, all of which are just as remarkable as the music on “A beginner’s mind.” I love Sufjan Stevens and have every piece of music he’s put out. “Javelin” is a brilliant album. But l find it confounding that “Toil and trouble” by Angelo - which also came out last year - wasn’t given the same attention “Javelin” was because it was such a special album as well.
Did you saw Call me by your name? Sufjan did 2 songs for the movie and was nominated for an Oscar ... the movie is hunting, you MUST see 😅 love and happy new year ❤😅😊

YES! Perfect description! Def got the hopeful vibes too! ❣️❣️❣️
Surprised no one commented it yet, but his name is pronounced “Soof-yahn” or “Soof-ee-ahn”, I think both are right.
We’re here indeed! Thanks for another year of reactions 🤎
Thank YOU for being here for the ride! ❣️
Great album, great reaction...Thanks! Absolutely LOVE Sufjan's music!
