College Dropout Builds $30M Startup While Fighting Cancer | Jenni AI David Park

- Today's story is about David Park, the CEO of Jenni AI. Jenni AI is a service that uses AI to help researchers and graduate students conducting academic research to quickly and easily find information and even generate citations. After its launch, it has successfully attracted 2 million users worldwide and has been growing at a rate of 15% per month, reaching a current Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $3 million.
His eight-year startup journey wasn't smooth sailing. He happened to meet an investor on a plane who invested in his idea, prompting David to drop out of university and start his own startup. However, what seemed promising quickly turned into failure. He went on to start new ventures but encountered failure again, not once but twice more. When interviewing entrepreneurs, you often sense a certain desperation, and it seems the more desperate they sound, the tougher their inner resilience feels. This story is a bit more raw and honest compared to others. Let's meet David in the video.

Mr. Park, May the force be with you.
Thank you for telling your story David. As a young founder, I am extremely inspired by you! Is there any way I could contact you and ask for some advice?
Thank you!
-Solomon Nguyen
This may change my life (if I deploy your courage and wisdom). Thank you Sir.
Thank you for sharing your story so candidly. It was truly inspiring. I wish you and your team all the best wishes for the future.
As there are few comments under this you comments let me use this opportunity to express my strong desire for mentorship from an excellent person.
I hope you don't get disturbing
Plus, the beautiful phrase
"A tree can't reach heaven unless its roots reach hell." 💛
Nietzche!
This episode stands out as the best I have ever watched on this channel! The depiction of David's numerous failures paints a compelling picture of the reality that 'startups are not always glamorous or filled with constant excitement.' I truly appreciate narratives like these, where founders put in immense effort to achieve success. Please do more such stories! Wonderful work!
yeah i like it so much
❤❤ you are right. This is my best episode too.
In the same position, 6th year with startups and it’s been all 0s. Really gave me the inspiration to push on. Thanks for the super actionable advice man. One thing I noticed was that you always did the super uncomfortable things, I could never imagine myself bothering another person beside me on a flight for 3 hours, but I think I can now.
Love this format of just letting him talk. Amazing story David!
Enjoyed it, David.
I wish you all the best with Jenni
This story hits too close to home for me. Thanks for sharing this story, David! Very inspiring!
David, Thanks for spending the time to share your thoughts on building a startup. Without a doubt, this has been the best 20 minutes of advice that I have ever had the privilege to absorb. I really appreciate your honesty, humble approach and grateful appreciation. This should be a TED talk.
What an inspiring, honest interview, Thank you so much!!!
I have been watching EO but this is the most inspirational one yet! He is down to earth and many can relate to this! Just congratulations David Park.
Like he said: Just be ready!
This is the most real startup depiction I've ever seen on TH-cam. Thanks mahn
This was the story I needed to hear, thank you so much for sharing it with us 🙏
I don't comment alot, however this was one of the realest and most humble talks. I wish him and his team success.

David is so wholesome and amazing person. I watched. a lot of startups founder but your story hits me hard.
Thank you so much!!!! I don’t remember anytime I was this moved by a startup story. You make this journey so realistic, hard but meaningful
This was an excellent video. Kudos to that entrepreneur and his team! 👍🏾
This interview is amazing, like any others from the EO team. More often than not, start-up life is told as a miracle journey welcomed by flowers and victories, which turns out not to be the case 99% of the time. But Jenni's story is indeed a miracle on its own. Thank you for inspiring us! wish you all the best with your start-up and future endeavors.
Thanks David, for sharing your Story! Hopefully you are Ok now!
100% great content, thanks for sharing!
Why this made me tear up? Man, thank you so much for sharing such vulnerable and realistic journey

Can't believe I'm shading tears watching this thank you for the hard truth 🙏❤
You're my hero, David Park!
You are a true businessman who just lacked some good mentoring early on! Keep Going
Very cool mate. Either the mellow music or the storytelling really got to me. Not sure which
Omg when you said "thyroid cancer" my jaw dropped because I also had it last year while being student abroad. Pushed through, now almost done with my studies and my dream is to have my own company.
I pray that this always stays on TH-cam cause this is disgusting that people with too much greed are fine with others not having a good life, I am talking about the dating app example, that problem have a solution and some people don't want it to be like that, they want the whole thing slightly off course so it never reaches to a solution, i don't know how to describe this but i really really appreciate what i got to watch here
Great video!
Thank you, I am inspired
Powerful testimony!
amazing broo
Good format!
I don't usually comment and this probably sounds the same as everyone has commented, but thanks for sharing your story and its really inspiring. I've learnt from it and Jenni AI has a new customer now!

Building a startup myself and this was one of the best pieces of content I’ve watched. Inspiring story and one day hope to see myself on here as well.
Literally Goosebumps🥶
So inspirational
I don’t leave comments much but this was very inspirational!
Very inspiring story.
the advice he gave is so valuable its wild
This man is brilliant.
Such a beautiful life story ❤️
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!
very inspiring
Great inspiration for struggling founders
After watching this video, I just thought that working in a company is not a part of life, but there is another life. Considering that life is a tapestry of emotions, including happiness, fear, sadness, joy and so on, it is easy to consider that people experience a range of emotions in their working space. However, the video let me realize that there are also all of the emotions in a company. Maybe that’s why some career stories become very impressive.
LOVE THIS
God bless you David
Wow!! 👏🏽
As someone who aspires to be an entrepreneur, this is one of the most insightful videos I’ve ever watched - with such a divine, real, and inspiring story as well.
I wish him and the business continued success, and financial abundance all round.
this guy is a legend man!
what an incredible journey
Love you brother
LEgend bud, those Grads now can work for you
wow powerful stuff
Thyroid problem is usually caused by stress, many overworked people have thyroid problems.
Inspired, this was different
Happy for his success despite cancer 🎉
Amazing human being!
The most important message I've took from this that we are running away from 9 to 5 jobs and end up working all day long every day without the knowledge if we will succeed and without any work fruits to taste. It's hard to keep pushing.
Wow 😮Every word this man is saying worth more than you can imagine
Better take notes cause this guy is a gem
Money make money what a touching story ..
Amazing..
Honestly it is so inspiring I am on similar path
Really good
Still struggling and hoping to make it.
This story resonates with me so much.
When you get that doctor's call to tell you , in the most awkward way, that you got cancer.
The first reaction is not to cry, but emptiness. You don't know how to react. But since you are young, you FIGHT it with all your might.
Now in my case imagine getting such a phone call not once, but twice before I was 40. And then finding out you got Li-Fraumeni Syndrome that is a condition where your body gets cancer much more easily compared to other people. THEN, only then did i start to cry.
I hope I make it in life before a 3rd time cancer. Because I am not sure I can survive that.
Love it

Well done thanks. UCSD!
His dating app startup instantly reminded me of an episode of Black Mirror. Cool.
The third chapter gave me goosebumps, it was really inspiring. The part that caught my attention was from 9:18-13:16
It's so much unfortunate to see a hardworking professional are struggling so much... Continuously striking for 8-years to start a successful startup is amazing... 🙂
That was amazing!!🎉
"When I found out that happy people don't make me rich, I quickly reshaped my entire business model". Great 👍
I really liked thissssssssss
Great Job Man 👍! Anyone with the name of the cool background music starting at 19:07 of the video
If you plan on being an entrepreneur, going into business creation and startups you have to be willing to live in a life full of failures and defeat. 99% of your time will be failing until you eventually one day succeed.
This was one of the most wholesome founder interviews I have seen. Never heard of Jenni AI but it sounds useful for students and academics.
