      @jordanash I'll correct that. It's dead for anyone not doing very specific productivity work that doesn't quite require a threadripper. For gaming it's absolute garbage. 285k loses to the 7800X3D and gets absolute destroyed by the 9800X3D with the leaked benches.

      I did a build with the 265K and the performance was great with much lower temps. They said it's a foundation to then push performance with newer CPUs. Intel has *recently* been more work/creative focused and AMD is more gaming-focused.

      @@jordanash ehhh not exactly. Intel had dominance in both for quite a few years. AMD was just more budget friendly but never started to really compete (at least in modern CPUs) until the start of the Zen architectures. AM4 as a platform was a huge step forward to AMD taking some ground in gaming. Don't get me wrong I loved my old 4790k and I get new architecture will have some teething problems but core ultra was well below what was expected.

      I meant recently, but yeah in the LGA1150 era AMD weren't exactly prominent
