The defense changed when they took Bridges off of the ball on defense.The pick and roll was killing him and Towns.Since the move his offense has opened up and he's back to being a top defender on the WING.
Always great to see Dexter in here. The Power Trio. On the Mitch thing, I don't see the replacement this year. Get him back, and see how far we go. We're still growing this club. Next year we push all the way to the chip. I prefer a healthy Mitch.
Celtics are one step above if Porzingis stays healthy. If we have one injury to any of the starters, we're screwed. We need more depth and an interior defender/rebounder.

Knicks bench is a current problem. After the starters... You will eventually have Mitch, Cam, Precious, Shamet, Deuce. Thibs doesn't play a 10 man rotation. Secondly, the Knicks interior defense is horrible. Not ready for a chip. But, they may make some noise in the playoffs. I'm a lifelong Knicks fan. I'm keeping my expectations realistic. They need a better bench and better defense. When the shots don't fall, they are in trouble. Especially, against good defensive teams with 2+ all stars.
I mean so long as thibs has guys he trusts, I fee like he'd go 9 deep. Have the bench is rookies or young guys he doesn't trust. The problem is they have 3 guards and a pf off the bench, so ultra small. I'm not really counting on Mitch at this point either. Some more size off the bench would be great, especially if he sticks with 8 men.
The bench isnt a problem. If the starters are scoring 90 points a game then because of that there isnt much bench scoring needed which is why they are ranked at the bottom in scoring. If bench points is needed the bench is capable if providing 30pts

I know Thibbs likes to treat every game like it's a playoff game, but he needs to realize that no one is going to care that this team made the #2 seed (instead of #3 seed) if they are too injured/worn down to win in the playoffs. It's all about the playoffs now.

Looking back at last year's playoffs and how it shook out with match-ups and the team's health. Were we really better off scratching and clawing our way to the 2nd seed? Or would we have fared off better having everyone healthy in the playoffs? I'd rather be a 3rd or 4th seed going into the playoffs with a healthy team with a prepared and battle tested bench as opposed to a 2nd seed limping into the playoffs and down to a 6 man rotation because we never got the bench ready to contribute.

I'm not discrediting the hawks but watching both games, it's obvious the knicks didn't play their best basketball and neither did bridges. So yeah, for the time being the hawks have their number but the difference isnt insurmountable. Thibs and company need to do their homework though. Don't think they've taken the hawks seriously enough.
