I recognize the hardships that come with economic struggles like unemployment, job loss, inflation, housing market instability, political uncertainties, and the global impact of conflicts and wars. Making ends meet during such times can be incredibly challenging. To navigate this difficult period, considering alternative job prospects, enhancing skills through online courses, and expanding your network can heighten the chances of securing employment. Moreover, prudent budgeting, exploring available financial aid programs, and seeking assistance from community organizations can offer some relief. How are you currently tackling these challenges? Have you implemented any specific strategies to cope?

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

Nowadays both I and my partner works and can barely afford to make ends meet. Soon the kids and family dog will need to work to keep this household going. Despite the CPI numbers released on Wednesday showed inflation continued to tick downward, core inflation (excluding energy and food) actually ticked back up. Hence, the market reacted with a huge dump. With this in mind now, the Fed watch polls for a 50 basis point cut in September is off the table and we are looking at a 25 basis point cut. People are still spending apparently.
On average, recessions last between 8 to 18 months. As a full time trader and investor, I try to keep 18 months of emergency fund stashed in a HYSA. In general (as JJ said), having access to dry powder of at least 3-6 months at all times is a good rule of thumb.

I graduated from college in 2019 right before the pandemic hit. I am so lucky to have done so and also got a job straight out! I was able to job hop through the pandemic and gain some experience in the field that has gotten me this far. However, now I have landed a job that I absolutely hate. Since starting there in January 2024 I have applied to over 200 job listings and have only had three interviews. This job has deteriorated my mental health, made me drink more, and start using recreational drugs..... but because times are tough I can't leave. I have no choice but to be thankful that I at least get a paycheck 😔
Because the economy is doing so bad I actually started budgeting about 6 months ago. I wasn't bad with money before but now I can physically see where I'm spending most of my money. Each paycheck I put a little into my 401k, my Roth ira, stowaway physical cash, and my Bank savings! It has made it so much easier to pull out money for emergencies

Australia was the only developed country that didn't go into recession in the GFC so it has been decades for us - not in recession yet due to high govt spending and immigration. Always keep at least 6 months of savings, preferably 12+. Also you can't just transition to a trade here, qualifications take 3-4 years including on the job training. Basically if you moved over here, you would have to retrain.
