"They need to decide whether they need more personnel or not."
Strange as this may sound, it’s nice to see Biden able to speak his mind without pressure to conform.

this kind of protection is very expensive when you think about it on a 24 hour basis and all the places they have to be also, the way it is currently set up the candidates for the office of President do not have to pay for their own security. However, Trump does need to cooperate with the Secret Service and not keep exposing himself to these crazy nuts who want to take a shot at him.. specifically with Trump he desires to be outdoors, playing golf and at the rallies he prefers outdoors, which is a lot more pleasant, but it’s a lot more dangerous because there aren’t the same barriers that are created by walls and being indoors

It's an autonomous part of the executive branch and the president can't "order" the secret service to do anything. It's designed this way so that every protectee can receive adequate resources regardless of how the current president feels about them, and especially to make it clear that a president cannot get their competition killed through a lack of security. So, whatever needs to be fixed in the secret service, only Congress has oversight about that it only Congress can increase secret service resources.
