You and Lisa's(MobileTech Reviews) are all that matters when I'm looking for artist reviews on tech. Teoh Yi Chie is pretty good too. Thank you guys for all your work!! PS... I love drawing on glass. Coming from an older model Wacom Intuos pro that I still haven't gotten use to its drawing surface(it's great but....); I very much prefer drawing on my Note9. Cant wait to give these new ipad pros a try!!
Same, I have the note 9 also, I love it a lot as a tiny sketchbook, apple makes good hardware but is just too overpriced for me, that I prefer my cintiq companion and note 9 compared to the iPad, I made an artist Impressions on it on my channel if you want to check it out
I've always seen people complain about how the old pencil used to charge through the iPad. I think a majority of the reviewers never found the charger which was in the box tucked away behind a piece of film. It's a lightning to lightning and it was always really easy to use
Great review, Brad. I hate the way the pencil charges in my 10.5 and I also find it as the best improvement, but having made the old pencil incompatible with the new iPad is really low from Apple. I mean, they even threw a lightning cable dongle with it, so I don't really need the iPad to be able to charge it. I hope they make it compatible via an update or something, although I know it's not gonna happen because Apple haha.
Agree, it’s pretty disgusting to make users buy the Apple Pencil all over again. But tbh, once the initial hype dies out, people will realize this new gen doesn’t do nearly enough to justify an upgrade from the 1st or 2nd gen iPad Pros.
@7:51 Couldn't agree more. Tech reviewers reviewing iPad Pro/Pencil is like a regular driver reviewing an F1 car. They're not going to know how to utilize its full potential.
Omgash this is the video ive been looking for!! Ive seen so many Ipad Pro reviews that just talk abt evrything EXCEPT for the sketching while the reason why I watched them is to see how the apple pencil and how its good for drawing!! Thank u so much for uploading this video!:) ♡♡
Brad. Another excellent review. But I’m a professional illustrator (since the pencil paper era) and for the last two years, I work in the ipad the 99 % of the time. I also use it to watch movies, hear music, make bank payments, keep track of my students, and almost everything. I open my computer only for a few features of photoshop. The moment photoshop is ready for ipad, maybe I will have my computer only as a backup emergency. No, its not a computer, but there are some benefits in which the ipad is better than a computer, so....I think that at this moment, with the apps the ipad has, is totally a computer replacement for illustrators. For other fields, maybe not, but for us...is the same. Lighter and reliable.
@@akosietay Yes, 11" 64 GB, but I have to say, aside ProCreate which is awesomesauce I am dissapointed in how Apple Software is really limiting the performance this device could have (talking about limited max quality on TH-cam etc. because iOs just doesn't support the high resolution codec), guess I just have to wait and hope Apple will adjust the software quality to the hardware THEY are making... :-)

I must confess I was waiting for your review to come out. Great and honest review as always. Only one thing: I do not hate the way the old Apple Pencil charges. I never attached it to my iPad Pro. I always use the connector adapter and I charge it with my iPhone or iPad charger. Frankly, I don't see the problem with doing so. I usually charge the iPad and the Pencil at the same time, and when the Pencil charges you cannot use it either way. I was thinking about upgrading both my iPad and the Pencil, but this new charging "feature" guaranteed that I will never pay that much more to have something that in my opinion is less. As you rightly pointed out in your review, I do not understand why they do not offer compatibility for the old Pencil. All this sounds like the usual marketing scam to force customers to spend more. I am so disgusted by Apple right now, and I have been a customer since their beginnings...
So much fun to watch this Review. Thx for that. Love how you don’t care about specs and numbers and giving us a reallife review from a creators point of view
0:48, love the two digital paintings!!! Please do some tutorials on how to use layers in the Procreate App to create lighting and shadow effects ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
This is how reviews should be. I really agree with the statement at the end. I hate it when tech reviewers try to talk about the iPad as if its a replacement to a normal computer. It’s a companion tool and will always be that.
Well done Brad, again. I love all of your reviews. I'm glad to see your channel grow and making your reviews more fun. The voices were great. You're the reason why I bought my Ipad Pro. Thank you.
My old ipad pro is one of my favorite things I own, I love drawing on it, and that has not changed just because this new one exists. So I wish you would talk more about if it's worth it to upgrade from the previous gen ipad, or maybe even going out of your way to get an older ipad pro to save money. I feel like we all know this one is a great product, but the real question to me is about the experience we "sacrifice" in the money saved by getting the last gen.
Devon Clancy. The common opinion seems to be it is a nice machine but not worth it if you already have a iPad Pro. I am getting this one, but only because I don’t have the old one. Stick with what you have and get ur moneys worth
Simply put : no. It is extremely beautiful and makes the past gen iPad Pro feel awkward and cumbersome to hold. But that's all. The 1Tb option has 6gb of ram that can potentially make a lot of difference in apps like Procreate but I have yet to see any official word from them guys.
I literally just upgraded from 10.5 Pro bought last year, to the 11 inch with Pencil and Smart Keyboard cover. I’m not an artist but love to draw and doodle. It’s a big chunk of change, so WHY? Because its absolutely gorgeous. The pencil feels amazing. The new keyboard design is so much better than last year. In fact everything is better - it really is a complete redesign. The new pencil charging is awesome. Yes, it cost a chunk of change, but Apple devices do well on resale prices, so if you can sell your old one, and have the bucks, upgrade, for the joy of working with an absolutely gorgeous setup. It is incredibly responsive, and seems much faster, although that may be an illusion due to fluidity. THIS. Face ID is amazing. I would have bought it for that alone. Really happy I dropped the bucks.
great honest review. I think we won't be able to tell the true extent to its power until photoshop is available. Then it can be tested with 200 layered file and see if its worthy of an upgrade
I traveled in 2013 for six months and wanted to still make art and make money with commissions and comics, so I bought an iPad mini 16gb (I only had enough money for that and not for a laptop). It was waaaay less than this new iPad (the pen I could buy was an adonit, there were no other options back then) and it served me well! I even made merch on it, and it was with the now very old procreate. So next time I go travel I'll definitely take this iPad with me to work on the go. If I could with that iPad mini 16gb, this one for sure will feel like a laptop replacement for me (specially cuz Clip Studio Paint now runs amazing as an iPad app!).
I read your comment about your daughter voicing the iPad before watching the video and I was ready to cringe, but it was so funny and actually helpful to keep the flow and her voice is so cute!
Gonna invest in one next year hopefully. I kept on checking for your review and it was more than worth it. The ipad and pen characters were funny man thank you.
I liked the charging through the lighting connector. From what I heard, you have to take off your rubber grip piece from the 2018 pencil to get it to magnet charge.
Brad can you do a video on the best way to back up one’s Procreate art on their iPad Pro.? Using a wireless hard drive like the Western Digital My Pro(Seagate Wireless HD, iCloud & or PC /Mac.
I liked the way the old pencil worked. I never charge mine in my iPad, I always use a power cable and the little adapter that came with the Pencil. That way I can lay the Pencil out of the way while it charges. I only plugged it in to sync it. Some of the other new features are great on the new Pencil, but now you can only charge the Pencil with an iPad Pro. And it better not have a thick case, or it won't work. Plus, I always have a case on mine, with a Pencil holder on it, and feel more secure with it stored that way.

My daily driver now is my beast of a pc and a wacom cintiq 27". I would like to be mobile too and sketch more, or do my work while being with a client. light studio work on the go. They both seem to be awesome.
Excellent review. Well thought out and with points I really wanted to know about. Watching you draw really kept me engages. I have a gen 1 and was debating on whether to upgrade or not. I think it’s time to upgrade. Thanx
Could you review an app called vectornator? It's not as capable as Affinity Designer, but it's completely free (no in app transactions or anything) and still has a lot of functionality. I've ended up liking it and I'd like to see your perspective.
i still adore my 2016 9.7 pro. Seems like I'm not missing much this gen. I hope apple keeps the ipad pro and apple pencil going, they are good devices.
I'm still waiting for my parents to announce that we're secretly millionaires and this was all just a prank by them to make me experience the *pleb life* ... Till then, I'm gonna stick to my 2018 ipad with 1st gen Apple Pencil I think.
Hi Brad! I'm from Brazil, i always watch your reviwes, i want to start digital drawing and i choose the new ipad 2018 6th gen today, but omg this new ipad pro looks amazing, maybe someday R$$$$$... please keep make content for us!
The speed difference is huge when you do things like video editing or photo exporting on the ipad. Especially video editing. It’s more than twice as fast as the previous ipad, and that’s a big difference when you’re waiting 10-15 minutes for a large video to process.
Steph MacField just got a lightly used 2018 12.9” 256gb iPad Pro off swapping for $845 after tax... came with 3 awesome folio cases (Zugu case might be the best I’ve had on any device I own), 2 tempered glass screen protectors (one already installed perfectly), 6’ type c cable with type c charging brick, 91% current battery health (checked with Apple diagnostics), and a second gen Apple Pencil. Some pretty decent deals pop up on swappa from time to time...
Thanks for the review Brad. I have the original pro model and the 2018 iPad 6 which I use for travel and share with my family and while I love the new updates on this pro the pricing makes me want to sit updates out until I start having a problem with the iPad I am using currently. I hate that they bumped up the price of the new pencil so much and that they keep bumping up the prices in general. Plus I live in Australia where prices on Apple products are even higher! But my 2015 iPad pro still works great and is not the relic that Apple advertising wants me to believe it is so I will just keep using it.
okeyy i know you’re tired of these questions, but i just wanted to know one thing haha; I have a macbook pro (from 2011) now, and the only thing i do on it is making word documents and sometimes powerpoints, but you can also do those things on an ipad. So my question was, is this ipad going to replace my macbook? Cuz it seemed useless for me to have both.
Brad, would love to see a review a drawing experience between the wacom 24 pro and the ipad pro 12.9. Obviously the wacom is bigger, but I really like the nimble quality of the super light ipad. It feels very organic to me, while the wacom feels so big and heavy. Please: some one make an 18" 4:3 tablet!
Great video mate ;3 I have ipad 10.5 and the only reason i would buy 2018 is for charging As you said i always have a small stroke when i gotta charge, so i charge before i draw.
"No one expects the question parrot! It's main weapon is surprise, surprise and fanatical dedication o the truth. It's two main weapons are surprise, truth......."
Great video Brad, wacom needs to start producing a light weight thin but still powerful enough version of their cintiq mobile studio/companion to give apple a run for their money, we need more innovation, artist are not made out of money
256 is the best option, especially if you want to record your drawing, maybe you want to edit some videos or you wanna working with big photos in Affinity Photo or large 3d files in Shapr3D. 64gb just isn't enough, maybe with a 128gb version (which Apple doesn't sell) it' can be ok, but the best budget/performance option is the 256gb without a doubt.
only the 1TB version got 6GB ram, the others have the same low 4GB ram. This will effect the amount of layers you can have, on higher resolution canvases.
@the animator zilla then storage not really problem actually, since after some project finished we can move it to 256GB flash drive (since otg flash drive already cheaper this day).
Apps are very well optimized, you probably can't see anything super major between 2gen and this 3gen (maybe export times are faster, but nothing absurdly faster)
Nope, you’re much better off with the second gen. It’s cheaper, still has the headphone jack. Refresh rate is the same. You’re good w the second gen unless u feel like splurging.
Great review and I like the cute character animation in the video. I still got the old iPad Pro. Really love it. Just started doing iPad speed painting series in my channel.
Great video!!! but i have a question that is my bigger doubt for purchase my ipad, the issue is the storage, how much space do you recommend for artist and designers, in my case i'm used to make drawings, some animations and digital 3d sculpture, thank you so much for your guide, i'm hoping your soon answer :D

great review though
the best review of this product so far man, keep up the good work!
as an illustrator myself i am still on the edge what to do. surface pro 6 and benefit from an complete PC / file system / adobe cc, or go for the iPad pro.
Thanx
Can't wait for the photoshop review.. hope you'll compare its performance from the previous ipad pro
Each of your art videos are more and more fantastic with each video ☺️☺️☺️
I was so desperate for a REAL artist's review on the new iPad! A real big help on decision making. +iPad BMO was a cherry on top!
I charged my ipadpro pencil on the lightning cable with the small adapter which was in the box !
I love the animations in-between! They really spice up the show :-D
Most fun and entertaining review ever. Thanks Brad & daughter!
Could you review an app called vectornator? It's not as capable as Affinity Designer, but it's completely free (no in app transactions or anything) and still has a lot of functionality. I've ended up liking it and I'd like to see your perspective.
Paperlike ordered.
I was sold on this product when Clip Studio moved over. Being able to get real work done outside of my office space is amazing.
Im gonna try to buy this one since its somewhat cheaper on amazon since the 2020 one came out so yeep
i still adore my 2016 9.7 pro. Seems like I'm not missing much this gen. I hope apple keeps the ipad pro and apple pencil going, they are good devices.
Finally! I was waiting for this video... Last night I went and checked your channel to see if there was an upload for this video...
yea I was worried about the camera sticking out but seems like its not that big of a deal -I'm gonna use a case anyway.. Yayyy new toy for artists!
I'm still waiting for my parents to announce that we're secretly millionaires and this was all just a prank by them to make me experience the *pleb life* ... Till then, I'm gonna stick to my 2018 ipad with 1st gen Apple Pencil I think.
Be the best of yourself and manage to buy your very own iPad Pro one day :)
Wtf i can't even get an ipad. Am i pleb?
Ashmita Nandy I’m pretty sure pleb people cant even afford an ipad
@Otie Jason theyre probably are young and cant get a job
Ashmita Nandy That’s the exact same tech I use!
Me patiently waiting for a year to pass so apple will sell the iPad pro for cheaper...
Still waiting...
Im using a 2nd hand ipad pro 256gb with free apple pencil for a cheaper price. Thank you, Marketplace 😂
Its still not cheaper lol
I ordered a 256gb ipad pro 11" today with a screen protector and folio case $1100 tax in... still expensive my friend
But my 2015 iPad pro still works great and is not the relic that Apple advertising wants me to believe it is so I will just keep using it.
okeyy i know you’re tired of these questions, but i just wanted to know one thing haha;
I have a macbook pro (from 2011) now, and the only thing i do on it is making word documents and sometimes powerpoints, but you can also do those things on an ipad. So my question was, is this ipad going to replace my macbook? Cuz it seemed useless for me to have both.
really thanks for this video with the talking iPad, it made my day lol... :)
Brad, would love to see a review a drawing experience between the wacom 24 pro and the
ipad pro 12.9. Obviously the wacom is bigger, but I really like the nimble quality of the
super light ipad. It feels very organic to me, while the wacom feels so big and
heavy. Please: some one make an 18" 4:3 tablet!
That's definitely the best review I have seen so far. Thank you for the laugth! ❤️
AWESOME video! I wasn't gonna get the paperlike screen protector, but I like that they were ur sponsor so I just pre-ordered one.
Great video mate ;3
I have ipad 10.5 and the only reason i would buy 2018 is for charging
As you said i always have a small stroke when i gotta charge, so i charge before i draw.
Brad could you please do a review on the huion 20 tablet? It looks wonderful and it would be a dream for me if it's as good as it looks!
Voice of your daughter sounds very funny :) All review so funny, and sooooo useful! Thank u!
great review.. i really hope a proper case will be released with side protection and pencil2 - compatibility
"I feel so powerful" - it was hilarious!
for an artist do you recommend 64gb or 256gb? how big do your procreate files average?
256 is the best option, especially if you want to record your drawing, maybe you want to edit some videos or you wanna working with big photos in Affinity Photo or large 3d files in Shapr3D.
64gb just isn't enough, maybe with a 128gb version (which Apple doesn't sell) it' can be ok, but the best budget/performance option is the 256gb without a doubt.
only the 1TB version got 6GB ram, the others have the same low 4GB ram. This will effect the amount of layers you can have, on higher resolution canvases.
64gb is fine unless you are doing video editing. icloud for art is fine
It's use type c now, I think may be it's support otg now, but I'm not sure.
@the animator zilla then storage not really problem actually, since after some project finished we can move it to 256GB flash drive (since otg flash drive already cheaper this day).
I love iPad and Pencil lol
You were both awesome, thanks
Great review! I love your mini animation! Great humor! Thanks a lot for creating this great review!
This is the most hilarious review I watched! It’s so good, well done Brad!
I might have missed it but didn't you forget to tackle the most important question which is is it worth the money over the 2nd gen ipad pro? :0
Cool! I'll have to check your channel out.
really hoping the price comes down soon. I am SO tired of my stupid little wacom :p
Great review, thank you. And your daughter has mad voice acting skills.
I got an iPad Pro because of you thanks bud
OMG!! You are so funny and talented and awesome!!!! Thanks for the reviews.. I'll get the iPad now..
Lol’d when the animated iPad was trying to talk through the case. You too much, man!
I love the video! I’ve been wanting to get into digital art but just don’t have the means (or money) to follow through with it
FINALLY AN ACTUAL GOOD SPONSOR
