bts was SO good before they started making english albums. I genuinelly believe the love yourself trilogy is some of the best pop music to come out in recent years. Everything from their music videos & lore to the fusion of hip hop and pop and other genres was so cool. i wish people explored their discopgraphy more becuase they are reallly talented and do not get the respect they deserve #tbh.

I wouldn't have placed BTS in 'pop' category (Why? Because of few mainstream pop songs?). It's hard to place them in any category. If you listen to them, you'll know.
BTS are and always have been 100% a Kpop group with hip hop influences. They aren't "hard to put in a genre" like they're seamlessly blending many different styles of music. They aren't Rina Sawayama FFS.
Weeknd 18? What more do you want then 20 songs past a billion streams and consistently staying at the top of monthly listeners? These kind of lists are always sexist
I love (sarcasm) people who judge BTS by English songs they made during a pandemic …anyway he has never really listened to BTS fully in my opinion. His reviews are always always extremely surface level. I’ve never seen him take a deep dive into their lyrics or storytelling or insane artistry in their performances. Not to mention the global art projects and fan community they have built. His opinion on them as uninteresting I take with an enormous grain of salt.
Yep kpop is more than studio releases. To fully judge a kpop band/artist, you need to also look at their music videos, live performances, community management, and so much more. Fantano is an English speaking reviewer who pretty much solely focuses on studio releases, so his opinions on BTS is bound to be kinda misinformed. Not really his fault tbh, he’s just not part of the culture and he has different emphases I guess. If you want nuanced takes from people within the kpop sphere that can appreciate things outside of music, you simply need to look elsewhere

In the last 25 years, shakira has been an icon of pop music and latin culture, 17 is just an insult not only to her but to people who gave their lives to the craft. Shakira's name is more recognizable than Messi or Trump
He blew up since can't feel my face you delusional tik tok fans think that he blew up in 2020 and his idols songs like popular and one of girls are literally hit songs with billions streams
the weeknd has been 1 of the most streamed artists since 2015 2016? plus hes literally number 1 right now as im writing this how have the numbers gone down, i mean if u expected him to make another blinding lights level song idk what to tell u thats literally the most streamed song of all time 😭
The weeknd should've been at least in the top 10 even top 5
Him and Bruno disrespected
The weeknd should be number 1
number one
probably taylor beyonce billie.. like the critic, media darlings
Hell no
Sure, Shakira is not so relevant as she used to be, but she is still a household name. And this list covers almost 25 years, so…
she still has 62 million monthly spotify listeners to this day. She's massively relevant still
Shakira is one of the biggest global superstars of all time, and should absolutely be in the top 20 at least.
In Latin America, Shakira is considered a legend and the archetype for a Latin Pop star.
Tampoco nos zarpemos, es un icono, si, pero no es una leyenda ni un arquetipo...
21st century started almost 25 years ago now, so yes, Shakira is obviously on this list
You being surprised that Shakira made it on the list is the most American out of touch thing I’ve seen in a while
@@prettyfrog4176 that seems to be an unfortunate pattern with him.

They had to put so much work to break this language and cultural barrier to get where they did
So yes they deserved to be on the list
Their impact
And no.s are too good, for them to not be on this list
Especially when the some of other artist
We had seen so far on the list are western still they are not close to the no.s BTS has pulled
And they just had to serve in the military
When they come back
They will again show their artistic colours
Like the always have with their meaningful music
Just cause before going to the military they had this phase of few light and not too crazy artistically songs
Doesn't mean they have just fizzled out artistically
Their solo albums are the proof of that
How good the music had been in the solo era

Dave Chappelle Ronin "Good Luck Baby." Sabrina The Carpenters. Olivia Rodriguez. Benson Boom "Beautiful Thing"
