@@lamename2010 Almost. Almost right. The first wants to do it equally, even /creating/ new titles if necessary to do so. Which means if you have a single duchy and a couple counties, it'll create some duchies for your secondary heirs. The second won't create new titles, but will still otherwise try to split evenly; which means that if you have a single duchy and a couple counties, your primary heir will get the duchy and the counties get split; with the secondary heirs as vassals of your primary heir. The third gives most land to your primary heir, with some of the rest to secondary heirs. It's quite possible third and fourth sons won't get anything under this scheme.

What's so interesting about Crusader Kings is that you can play as any dynasty whether real or fake, and still manage to create interesting stories. I've grown fond of the small count Jacob of the Bärensburg dynasty. He holds the title as count of Wittensberg as a vassel under the Duchy of Lausitz on the eastern border of the HRE. The coat of arms looks badass. It's red with a picture of a black bear. Jacob is also an intrigue character, so you have a foundation to create a real shady and evil dynasty. Basically starting as a single count and potentially backstabbing his way up to glory. The only drawback is that Jacob is getting old at 44 years. This is 1066 starting date btw.
