    I watched the Honda CB1100 Power of Dreams video. Honda's CB1100 design team is introduced and they discuss the development of the bike. All the design team members are 40-50 years old and they wanted to design a bike that they would love, and would be strongly reminiscent of the CB750 four of the 1970s. These men put their all into the design and execution of the CB1100. They were all beaming with pride. The CB1100 is truly a gorgeous bike made with the highest quality standards.

    you buy a CB1100 if you want a bike that just wont die and you hate having to stuff around with things every day you ride the thing. With a CB1100 you start it, ride it and enjoy, it will do it every day until you get to old to lift your leg over the seat.

    I saw a red one in Prague the other day and had to step up to it and admire. Such a handsome motorbike!
    I shouldn't be looking at other bikes... or else the XSR will get jealous!
    Anyhow, respect for showing the crash - will help other riders scan the road.

    Luke: Indeed it was fella - when it was first produced over her! They told us at the launch though that it was first seen at a bike show in 1967 in prototype form in Japan, and it thats when the hype started :-)

    Terrific bike. I just got a black 2014 model w/o ABS. Love the black rims and blacked out engine set off by four beautiful header pipes. The latter appears to be made of Titanium, but probably an illusion. The red pin stripping on the gloss black tan is a nice touch too. I like it better than the red "Deluxe". It has a nice soft suspension, comfy seat and sensible upright riding position. Engine and six speed are smooth a silk, and exhaust is actually a little too quiet. Nearly 50 years of standard UJM in-line four refinements went into this retro model. Will probably get great mileage from the six speed. For reasons unknown, they are not selling well in the U.S., so now is a good time to buy one really cheap! Thank you Honda!

    I have this bike, 2016 with only 4000miles on it in black and I love it. My teenage boys say it the best looking bike that I have (I also have a GSXS750 for flying on and a GSX250 for commuting on). Definitely a weekend warrior for me, only because I want it to last.

    A motorcycle made with love and a vid made with love. Thumbs up.
    Had 3 Honda CB 500 Four, never had a 750 Four because I found the exhaust pipes so cute at the 500 four and it's the much eleganter version. Wonder why Honda didn't put 4 pipes on the 1100, would been great.

    I get that it's not the fastest out there but I read (wikipedia, so take it for granted) that it pulled an 11.1 and another place an 11.7, even if you split the difference at 11.4, that's nothing to sneeze at. Sure, it's not as fast as your super sports and hyper sports, but that'll out-accel most cars you see in daily driving...

    My first bike 20 years ago was a 78 CB550K, still have it and just got it back on the road last summer. The 1100 is a nice looking machine with some nice updates. I would agree on the 4 into 1 exhaust though. Wouldn't mind seeing a 4 into 2 Dunstall style exhaust, I'm sure they exists somewhere. Cafe it up and it'll be a beaut!

    Beautiful bike, this new CB1100. Certainly appeals to the old greybeards like me. That being said: whoa there, ease off on the hyperbole kido ! As advanced and modern as the original CB750 was, it most certainly was not the first to feature an inline four-cylinder motor, electric start or a disk brake. Neither was it the first bike to unite all three of these features. FN, Nimbus, Indian, Excelsior, Henderson, and many others were building inline fours going back to the 1920s, earlier in FN's case. Same goes with electric start and disk brakes. Honda themselves were already putting electric starts on most of their models years before designing the 750. Finally, when Honda launched the big CB, MV Agusta was already selling an electric start inline 4 with twin front disk brakes. At least the Honda was much better looking. What really sets the CB750 apart from the rest of the late '60s bikes is the fact that you can still use one today as though it were a current bike, with no thought given to the fact that it's a 45 year old bike. It really was that far ahead.

    • @BikeWorldTVshow
      @BikeWorldTVshow  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aha - it might not have been the first to bring those features to market - but it was the first mass produced affordable bike that had them all that was available to buy here. It is classed as the very first "SuperBike!". But agree - you could get all of these features elsewhere - but this was the first to combine them all, and make it really affordable!

    • @CaptHollister
      @CaptHollister 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bikechannel Not to be too pedantic about it, but while CB750 certainly was a superbike one can argue whether or not it was the first. Every time period had its own version of what constituted a superbike. In the '50s there was the Vincent Black Shadow, for example. The term hadn't been invented yet, but the big Vincent was a superbike by anyone's definition. The CB750 was the babyboomer's first superbike and it was one most people could afford.

    My original 750 had a disconcerting tendency of short wheelbase, to immediately lift the front wheel in a giant wheelie, if it bogged and grabbed traction just at the point of launch.

    I do not like the single exhaust at all. I think it would look great with four pipes or even one to a side but not this single. I'm

    the readjusting the timing isnt about making it run worse but giving it more of a thumpy sound and feel. That is the biggest problem I have with new Triumphs, (other than the low power for the engine size and how heavy they are, same amount of power as the old 650 in an 850 WHAT?!) they run way too smooth. You don't have that classic Triumph thump, let alone the imfamous Bonneville idle miss that they all have that is just a Bonneville idiosyncrasy and part of why so many people die for the sound of a T120 or T140. Without that idle miss its just not a Bonneville.

    • @BikeWorldTVshow
      @BikeWorldTVshow  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luke - Agree with you fella - but by pure definition, making a bike miss or a bit rougher is taking away from its efficiency and performance ;-)

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bike World I own a 1976 T140V Triumph Bonneville and it sounds the way it does because the pistons are rising and falling together and alternating firing. I kept my idle at around 750-800 rpm so as not to shock the flywheel with a too slow tick over. I raced and hit the redline in every gear (except top gear as she was geared to tall to run in the red line in 5th gear) in every race and she never blew. As far as efficiency and performance is concerned I can tell you that my stock Bonneville won every cafe race for 10 consecutive years against every motorcycle on the streets of Long Island from 1977 to 1987. I brought her out again in 1992 and was able to win against the new Kawasaki Ninja 1100 and new Honda V4 Interceptor 1000. Yes they were quicker in acceleration and faster in top speed but the overall balance was with the Bonneville as I beat them in a 15 mile road race which included running flat out on super parkways. Handling was impeccable on my Triumph 750 because of the frame design and chrome molly steel construction and wheel base and light weight and steering geometry. I was able to steer through the corners using engine torque and had no need to counter steer. That was a major contribution to my back road victories - a stout engine! I kept her stock except for removing the heavy silencers and had no need to upgrade the tires or the shocks or any component to win. I used to say if I ever lose then I will spend some money and modify my Bonneville. But I never needed to do that. I still have my Bonneville and she sit's not 20 feet from me as I type this. What other road machine was able to beat all street bikes for 10 consecutive years? Only the Bonneville. I should say that winning for 10 consecutive years with never a loss was a life changing experience and I owe it all to my beloved Bonneville. I became an engineer and now at age 64 I am retired and I no longer race as I leave that to others. I still ride. I always felt that if anyone could beat me then I would have to allow them to win, as I raced against the road and raced as fast as I could without crashing and I never did crash while racing. If you ever meet a man who loves and believes in his motorcycle and has won as much as (we) have, please let me know. I would be buried with my Triumph I love her so much. Out of respect I would not suffer her to endure keeping me company under the ground. She deserves to be out in the air and under the sun.

    Always watch the road condition. Never ride on these wet parts.. can be water but like this case it can be diesel, probably lost by some idiot trucker. Looks like the front rider also wasn't minding the road condition that much, but was lucky by driving on the left part of the spill. Oh well, everybody's gotta learn sometime. :) Worse is when it's raining and you can't see the diesel spill..

      @ryosapien27 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      yeah barely more but just about 80% you're not exactly a statistician eh. Probably not mate as you've little idea of how horsepower translates into riding a motorcycle on the street. a bike that claims to make 130 hp at 12000 RPM is really worthless. Get it to 12000 rpm even in low gear and you're going 100 mph its why torque is king and people ride harley's . You must be a serious track rider eh.

    Gorgeous bike that's sure to appeal to old farts like me, but guys, no offence, but you suck at history. The CB750 was not the first to feature an electric start, that was Indian in 1914. Even Honda's own 250 Dream had one in 1958. The CB750 was not the first motorcycle with a disk brake, Lambretta had been using them since the early 60s. And biggest fail of all: the CB750 was absolutely not the first 4-cylinder motorcycle. From when FN first built one in 1902, there was never a time when you couldn't buy a four-cylinder bike.

      I think in fairness to the narrator,he is inferring modern production motorcycles. For example,BMW is commonly credited with Fuel Injection,Electronic ignition,single sided swing arms,ABS,Telelever front suspensions etc...all of these existed before on other brands models at various times...,but never as full line and continuous standard features...The CB750 brought all of its features into the mainstream and bled them over into other Honda's across the board,but it invented none of them...
