Go Kat I dug early Rockabilly, Sun, etc., but when I heard Chuck Berry is when I knew I wanted to play guitar……. Just like him!

Very cool. From the moment as a thirteen year old, I put on a Chuck Berry album smooth (naively thinking, because he was black and American, he would be like Nat King Cole - another of my parents' favourites) the downward slide into the Beatles, Eddy, and Buddy was set in motion. From teh split-second the honking tones of 'Maybelline' burst out of my old portable Dansette Record player my fate was sealed.. Now, nearly fifty years later, I'm still in love with Rock'n'Roll, I still write songs and I'm still barely beginning to be able to play this great music.. Thank you for this Randy you are a prince amongst men.

You are so lucky to have had the chance to watch Chuck live, I wish that I had, I have like you, been playing him in cover bands, infact since I was a child, Maybelline and School days have always been firm favourites. I did get the chance to watch Jerry Lee Lewis though in 1977 aged either 11 or 12, he was supporting The Jordanaires, which I could never understand, but I was never an Elvis fan and that remains. My old man got a press pass from a friend, there was about 200 people there, he was astounding, pushing that piano all over the stage, jumping up on it and more than you can imagine, like he was a teenager, I don't think that I have ever been happier, thanks for bringing that memory back to me😊

Hey Randy have you considered doing a George Harrison special - earmarking his renditions of Berry, Perkins and Larry Williams (early Beatles incuding All my Loving for the Chet Atkins vibe and even his work on 'Til there was You?) Cheers, Lee from NZ

Hi Lee, I like many of the early Beatles songs, especially their originals and early 60s covers. I'm not a big fan of their rockabilly and 1950's cover versions with a few exceptions like Rock'n'Roll Music. I think there are many guitarists in a much better position to teach George Harrison's style like this guy here: th-cam.com/video/PEAoPvekI5Q/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BeatlesScore%2FTAB-caseofRyoheiKanayama
