- The NEW Audi S8 is here and there are some changes that have been made to increase performance. Under the hood is a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that is pumping out 563HP to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior has bold muscular lines with 21in wheels. On the inside you will find a beautiful interior and Audi's outstanding virtual cockpit. Is the 2020 Audi S8 the perfect luxury performance full size sedan?

The sea of gloss black looks good, before you touch anything. The interior design is super futuristic though!

Hi Joe. I have a question about the virtual cockpit system in this Audi S8. When you have the center tachometer display can you change that tachometer into actual gauges?

In East Germany in the state of Saxony near the city of Dresden. You will like driving here especially with such great cars.
That gloss black bars at the back side of the front seats are perfect for a small entartaiment for the passengers, thinking of their position. Was thinking it would be something with them but it appears they are only decorative lol. Nice review as always Joe.
6:57 you can choose between gloss black and carbon fiber. I would get the carbon too.

Yeah my current Audi A8 has the wooden burl trim where this one has the black I prefer the wooden burl trim. No one near me has this car though so how do I get it?

What do you think of this vs the 2020 bmw 750i you drove 11 months ago? :) Ride comfort and seat comfort my main question? Do you think both drive trains are comparable, which smoother? I just re-watched your 2020 750 review and zonks for the steering feel, input, handling for biggest problem on the 750... Does this S8 get much better marks for all that as well? Last thing, Throttle response, quick response, I really would want the one that you can lightly touch just to get up to speed..the 750 seemed to lag for me. Both have similar setups but I felt like the 750 unless you down shift theres significant turbo lag unless in sport mode.. I think the Audi better for that too.

Awesome review. Dealers in LA are charging a $25k markup, making the one I saw about $165k. Also, having an A8, most of the gloss black is in places where it’s not frequently touched, so it stays fingerprint free.
I had a 2004 7 series, my guess is that it would blow my mind in person too.

Joe Raiti the Audi S8 personally is my favorite big sedan on the market right now. It's a little out of my price range at the moment, but eventually I will have one.

How are the driving dynamics of this car compared to the CT6 V?
I know the build quality is most likely impeccable, but for the door tops and dash top to not be stitched leather as well as the gloss black in far too many places (especially on the shifter that is usually a mixture of premium audi metal & perforated leather) is just inexcusable at this price point and class of vehicle
There is a carbon fiber option in place of the gloss black.
shoulda gone through those roundabouts with other traffic so u had to stay in a lane 😂
You gotta get some night clips with the headlights. Only thing I've noticed your reviews are missing. The tail lights on this S8 are drop dead gorgeous at night.

Great review. However, it seems like when you floored it, that there was a lot of turbo lag. Seems like it takes a sec and then power is delivered. I feel like for a price point of 130k+, you should never have to wait for power to be delivered lol
This might be the best sounding car you’ve reviewed. I could go for a Payday bar right now, probably my favorite candy bar.
I'd go with the Reese's chocolate peanut butter cups, but it may stain the front seats of the S8

Ive always been a big fan of Audi technology. Their Quattro AWD system is the best AWD system in the auto industry. The way they program the computer technology in the steering with the suspension is the best. Unbelievable how good they program it to have them work together where you get serious power but never ever feel like the car is out of control.....Love it!!

Great review as usual. Interior is awesome however the exterior is not enough for me for 137k price tag. I would personally would lease the S-Class. Now with RS your speaking my language
Agreed! S Class is WAY nicer, and better looking. This S8 doesn’t look mean enough. Looks no different than an A8! Last generation did a better job with differentiating the two!
Assume Formlessness you definitely want to lease all these cars. I’m in the business. Nobody buys cars like this. Smart people lease them. Tax reasons, depreciation etc.
That two-screen setup on the center console definitely receives mixed emotions. I can see both points. It looks awesome but would it get annoying having to deal with two touch screens as a daily driver? Also seems like something that is prone to electronic issues and increased maintenance costs. Actually, it’s the reason my parents chose the BMW X5 over the Audi Q7 for their recent vehicle purchase.

Excellent review of another superb Audi vehicle. The S8 , especially in black, is a wolf in sheep's clothing: long, low and wide. Please do a comparison between the S8 and the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S class performance version.
