I always thought the joke was that we never knew who the real moody was since cliff hangers without and end are a cliche among soap dramas.
I'm old enough now to have watched this as a kid, but I was young enough that I didn't get the irony and took it 100% seriously. It was almost kind of traumatic and scary.
Maybe the REAL Moody, was the friends we made along the way.

@@donnamacauley4080 Donna, you know nothing. Dan has said it was never supposed to, and that he doesn't know who the real Moody is because he has full intentions of continuing the plot because "The Amanda Show" was supposed to have 2 more seasons, but got cut short for "What I Like About You"

how did her mom survive up in that hot air balloon for 6 years without food or drinks? And there wasn’t a bathroom up there, and she didn’t freeze to death or have a heatstroke. It seems unrealistic for her to still be alive all that time in the hot air balloon

No matter what drama or comedy went on in their lives, these friends able to hand out. Even though Moody's mom has been stranded in a Hot air balloon for so long! And it was awesome to see Mrs. Chesterfield from Jessie who played Moody's Circus mom.

I've been mad about this never continuing and never showing who the real moody is since I was like 10. I wish we lived in a world where our favorite tv shows never ended on a cliffhanger like this. There is so many tv series that I have loved and they get cancelled on a cliffhanger or just in a really inconclusive way. It's like makes me feel grief. It's like losing a great friend and not know why you lost them or there was just no closure. Idk it's sad. .I could just try to think of conclusive endings to of the shows like fanfiction, but honestly I'm just not creative enough to do that.

Here’s what I’ve been thinking. When the real Moody comes in, she’s revealed to be a total annoying weirdo and none of the characters like her. She even does circus things in the house that causes problems. Somehow the mom will finally get down from her hot air balloon and return home and find out about the real Moody. However, everyone finds out that the doctor apparently made a mistake and that there was no baby switch. Either that or he was lying for some reason. With that the fake moody and REAL Moody switch back. And the REAL Moody is glad because she was not liking the circus life. She will reunite with her mom, she gets to end up with that one guy who always liked her, and that other girl’s monkey problem gets taken care of.
What if the real Moody were the friends we made along the way?
The writers on the show were mad geniuses

What's interesting is that we don't actually need Amanda to finish this sketch. The hardest actor to get now would be Taran but beyond that anything can be done to finish this off.

Oh Dan...... why did you never give us conclusion to this skit.... but instead you give us a huge cliffhanger that is unsolved and never tell us what happens next.
As much as I do not like him personally, Dan Schneider did say he wanted to make the actual show and Nick never got on board. He also said that the Moody and Spaulding dynamic ended up the building blocks for Zoey and Chase.
