For anyone that doesn't know: It doesn't loop, it's around three hours sprinting, and the devs put rocks so you couldn't just tape the controller down and leave. At the end is a secret ending.

the worst part is there is no saving, you do it all or you don't do it.
New game+ exists throughout the main campaign. The main things that change are mainly dialogue, and an additional npc quest in the main hub once you get your arm back. Also, you should try to not kill anyone, that would be an awesome final experience. Finally, the Golden key can also be used in the forest to the left to get the last gem needed. If you need help with the pacifist ending, go to the forest tree spirit, talk to him, and tell him you will not kill then leave the forest. That will help you.

Yeah New Game+ and Pacifist would be awesome! Merg already got that gem in the last episode (th-cam.com/video/q0NSukpeeTg/w-d-xo.html) and attempted the Dev Gnomes this episode, so that is one less thing.
He saw a comment that was the one telling him how he can face light being so high chance he might see this and activate something he wouldn’t expect
Fun fact: The corridor actually takes 3 or 4 hours to reach the end in real time.
And about halfway through they star adding obstacles so you have to actively pay attention, it's one of the most evil achievements I know of lmao

@@theswordofsacredfire6517 that is a test of skill while the hallway is a test of patience. Whichever is more evil is subjective (although the incinerator is probably more evil I just forgot about it)

The incenerator is the path of painful insanity, you not only have to NO HIT it, but everytime time you fail, you have to like reload from a save point and eat a cutscene to try it again, the incenerator is a cruel test of patience, memory and reaction, because you have to memorize the patterns if you want any chance to survive that monstruosity and be quick with your movements, I haven't played this game before, but I have seen the whole thing, not worth trying xddd.
Hey merg, that endless corridor is actually worth investigating! If you have five hours spare, I recommend trying to reach the end!

@@FeenieVonKarma yes, but based on what he says each time it doesn't seem like he 100% understands the difference, like at 13:20 where he realized that he could actually absorb the bright notes when before he just saw a lot of dark notes and assumed that nothing could be absorbed

can we take a minute to appreciate how good euthanasia rollercoaster (the cube boss music) is? I listened to it for so many hours and I never get tired of it
Euthanasia Rollercoaster... now that's quite the name. I agree, that music is great, but that's something I could say about pretty much every track in this game ^-^'

Euthanasia rollercoaster is a real rollercoaster with several loops designed to kill you. just thought that was interesting.
i love that the name is based off a actual rollercoaster that gives you so much adrenaline that there is some reports that people actually died in it

That psychedelic cube is "Universe" quite literally the game itself. You end the game by killing it. . . think about that for a second.
And did you notice how much the universe delayed it's own death? Even though it knew it was the right thing, the game was still afraid to die.
@@eyald.8252Yeah, although there are a lot of interpretations, as the game is pretty vague. My head canon was that Universe didn't want to say goodbye, didn't want to stop playing.

Having a boss that's literally the game devs, and they attack you with actual game files is so impressive and insane that I have no idea how nobody's done it yet

I like to think the fight after The Sun wasn’t the Lost Spirits, but an impressive illusion made by the Mages, since they themselves say “Without physical limitations, we are unstoppable!” or something along the lines of that. Notice how out of the only ones that actually “fight” you besides the Lost Spirits ARE all the Mages, including Brown Mage. I also like to think the Lost Spirits are actually people you killed during THIS game, not the ones that launched you into the literal sun. Funnily enough, the Mages are invincible in the fight. They literally have no physical constraints.
Fun Fact: The Cube Fight is known as The Universe. That means you've literally gone to the point where you’re ending the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Not only that, but you’re fighting for so long and hard that time ITSELF IS BEGINNING TO TEAR ITSELF APART.
I don’t know if you realize this yet, but this game does follow quite a bit of Buddhism, like how death shouldn’t be feared and such. It even HAS a Buddha.
This was truly an amazing game. Really got to my top five definetly and the songs are bangers. So sad to see it end, but thanks Merg for showing people this hidden gem. Keep on going!

It's very fun watching you theorize about the story as you play, it's much more entertaining to watch someone play a game if they're invested in it and having fun

the mages didn't create everhood, they have found everhood first and had access to it before everyone else
By the wiki's account through calculation, the corridor (counting the side players can't see) records over 3 _billion_ years in Everhood.
If you ever have to wonder how bored you need to be to throw away your own eyeball- wonder no longer. When the magic 8 ball says "Green Mage is in the Board Game house, trying to figure out what to spend their time on," it's being perfectly literal. GM has had so much eternity that they decided to wander the mushroom forest and throw away both their magic power and sense of sight... _on a whim. Because they were that bored._
If you'd like a short explanation for the ending:
the characters move on to their next life (which is somehow what puts their souls at rest)
but you (the human) are left behind, which is why you cannot play on the completed save
that last battle with everyone saying thank you just left me crying with joy
since the ending did feel a bit all over the place, i came up with a good summary of what i think was going on:
orange created red for pink as a vessel (doll/puppet) cause pink was unstable (they killed other people before red was created) so the player controls red, who controls pink, which is why in the end pink wants to find a piece of red, because they are lost in the white void and want to be guided by you, the player.
after you fight with the sun (which is still a soul), the souls of the people you killed (and weren't ready to die) take their revenge cause they were mad at you for killing them.
after killing the sun and fighting the souls, you destroy the universe so the killed people don't just become lost souls still stuck in immortality, resulting, with no immortal universe left to live in, all the killed souls moving on to a new life. though before they went on, they were put in the waiting room until they were ready to do so.
in the end, every soul moves on to a new life (including pink)
and since red (the player) isn't a soul, as it was just a vessel for pink, it can't move on to a new life (hence the glitchy thing after loading the ???? save)
some other things:
pink is a mage (like all mages, a human before they became immortal),
you were sent by the entity at the start and end of the game (the one with the absolute truths) to control red to actually do the killing, and frog was sent by that entity to guide you.
and finally, the gnomes are just the guys from foreign gnomes. their purpose is to watch you throughout the whole thing (the entity at the start mentioned that "they're always watching" or smth like that).
also cat god is there too

Can't wait for you to do the "pacifist" bossfight, it is the most epic thing in this game (imo) and my favourite fight overall
I just wanna say it has been a blast watching you play this game, thanks a lot for bringing it the attention it deserves. And don't worry I was really confused too with the story lol.
Yes, Pink was Red all along (Red being angry at us in the mirror of truth was Pink talking through Red) and we the player could only control Red, the puppet, so at the end Pink had to wear the red blindfold so we could control them through it, at least that's what I think happened. Also every time the game or anyone in the game called us "Human", I'm pretty sure they were talking directly to the player.
But I honestly think the story itself is open for interpretation; to me the whole game was to accept death as a part of life so we appreciate life to the fullest. It's a lot more than that but I don't wanna write an essay XD

It's been fun watching your experience with this game and seeing you form your own theories along the way! Everhood has one of my personal favorite endings of any game, it's very bittersweet.

The ending is definitely open to some interpretation, since of course there are no absolute truths. :) But I think the idea is that everyone is being reborn into a new world, so life is starting again. They had to die to begin again, so you basically just freed them from that stale existence and let them move on. It's some sort of cycle of reincarnation.
Ah, finally. Euthanasia rollercoaster, the best song/fight in the whole game. I just love the concept of you fighting existence itself
Merg, for the cube at the end, I am pretty sure that cube IS Pink, and the reason you’re fighting it in the first place is because Pink needs to truly end themselves to die. The glitching is themselves tearing apart, since your body isn’t programmed to cease its own life, and the reason it tries to close itself out but refuses is because Pink wants to truly, fully die, and dying to the attacks or letting it end without a victory otherwise is just letting themselves die, rather than ending it themselves. The last thing, the damage numbers and the black notes, are because of the immense willpower to do something that is otherwise impossible to drive yourself to do and the resistance of yourself to you causing your own death respectively. At least, that’s my interpretation of it
There are still some secrets left for You if you still want to see them:
The Dev Gnomes
A pacifist part for not killing the forest spirit and going back to the hub
Actually surviving the incinerator.
(yes it's possible with a achievemt for it even)
And a new game+ part once red has his arms
The previous saves you kept might work except ??? since that one ended.
Else there's still custom battles if you enjoy the combat system.

To be honest I'm impressed that throughout his entire gameplay he never figured out that black attacks cant be absorbed and the white ones you can absorb
Woah, that definitely was... an ending! What a journey! I loved your playthrough of this game through and through, and I'd be excited and very happy if you decided to dig deeper into it, with a NG+, a pacifist run, or even just trying to complete the encounter that happens after you place the 3 gems on the statue. I don't know anything about this game personally and I still understand almost nothing about what really happened, so I'm very much still craving more content; if you feel like it, that'd be amazing!

What a journey has it been, coming to an end.
So I was doing some research on this game and apparently Merg's predictions on a Cat God fight is true.And it does require you to do a new game +.This is how you unlock it:After retrieving Red's arm from Gold Pig's Temple, enter the Cosmic Hub and walk around the area above the Grey Door to trigger the appearance of Sam, a New Game+ exclusive character. They will lead the player to Cat God.

Beating the Dev Gnomes opens one of the secret endings, where you kinda end Everhood by killing it’s creators. This boss fight is insane difficult, mainly because you have to kill them, otherwise, if I am not mistaken, that spamming part of the two together will keep looping until you kill them. So yeah, this alongside with the Pacifist ending make the other main endings of the game.
It's no wonder why most people view Green Mage as the best boss of the game. They're extremely entertaining and you've encountered them on numerous occasions, which is great build up to the final rematch. Then when it comes to the boss fight, it starts as a fake-out, but then you're taken to WAY better arena where the real fight comences. The song is a banger and you're not on a time limit so you don't need take unnessary risks, plus Green Mage has fricking LIGHTING attacks, something that no other boss uses to try to kill you.
You may claim "I've made the journey to the far end of the corridor" ticket here.

Well, everything that is good has to come to an end soon or later, just like this series. It was a short, but awesome and entertaining game from beggining until the end.

Just letting you know, that endless corridor goes for about 5-7 hours so I probably wouldn't go down that unless you REALLY want a steam achievement

God Everhood is such a good game. I will say, so far it's not nearly as high up as Undertale or Omori in storytelling, but I'm still impressed. This game continuously takes genius innovative concepts, from its gameplay to its story, and constantly throws them at you and layers them on top of each other. I have no doubt if the creators, Chris and Jordi, were given more people and more funds, that they'd make something even more amazing.
Excited for the finale. ;)

I went through the corridor, and got through to the end :)
It is VERY long, and about halfway through you start having rocks and debris blocking your way (so it isn’t just “hold right”)
But yeah it technically does lead to an ending and achievement too (and best to do with friends chatting with you, it is otherwise a LONG 3-4 hours lol)
35:15 - "Do I have to kill you?" DUDE XDDDDD They are already dead, you can't kill what's already dead, have you tried killing the lost souls before? they are impossible to kill, even for you, that has the power to end their immortality.

I start to slowly suspect that gnomes might be either really the creators or a reference to people who have participated in creation of this game. Also the "band" what made the music for the game is called "Foreign Gnomes". And first trailer on steam page says "A game by Foreign Gnomes"
I had a blast watching this, even though I'm late to the party. YOU are red, and red is the doll. Pink is their own character, but "lets" you control them, to keep it simple. The gnomes are higher beings - possibly part of the universe itself, and I'm pretty sure Frog is also a higher being thanks to some hints. Hope to see you play Everhood 2 when it comes out!
I had no idea what this game would be like, but absolutely fell in love with it watching your playthrough. I'm seeing a lot of people saying to pacifist, and that "It never ends in everhood" is going to be something I'll be thinking about for a long time. Would love to see you do pacifist!
Red was basically just an Illusion for Pink’s body id assume based on some of the dialogue. Some of the characters only KNEW you as red though (Blue, Flan), though the Mages knew Red as Pink. That’s my guess at least.

Okay, so here's my understanding of the red/pink/human... thing.
There are 2 main possibilities. Either:
Pink is a separate entity from Red, Red controls the body of Pink, and the human (us) controls red. Or maybe we are red? One or the other.
The other possibility is that Pink and Red are the same entity with a sort of split-personality disorder. "Red" is like Pink, but more murderous (Red is Pink but darker, just like the colors they represent)
I also could be wrong about this whole idea, idk.
I can't believe we just watched Buda enlist Merg to destroy the universe.
All that remains is to find the secret bosses.

This game's gameplay and music seemed really nice, hopefully we're getting much more of that on your second playthrough.
Although the presentation of characters were quite weak and the plot leaves many unanswered questions (at this moment of the playthrough at least).

Hey merg, this is the fourth time (I think) that I am asking you to play will you snail because I think you'll really like it! (and also when popular people play it they leave it in the dust and I believe you wouldn't do that). It's a 2D rage platformer where you play as a snail and go against an evil yet AI named Squid. The game has a lot of different ways to kill you like spikes, bombs, lasers jellyfish and much more. Oh yea the lore is pretty cool as well!
