- I absolutely LOVE Black Hawk Helicopters and there's finally one in War Thunder but I can't figure out if it's actually worth grinding for. Is it worth it? Let's find out.

Vehicles like this really remind me that one of the biggest things holding War Thunder back is Gaijin's inability to think of different game types and uses for vehicles beyond direct fire at knife fighting distance over capture points. Like the artillery vehicles they've recently been adding, I struggle to find a purpose for something like this. And after recently trying naval for the first time only to find that whoever gets a couple of ships to the points first wins 9/10 times because nobody else can get there fast enough to retake them before the game ends, I'm not surprised that naval is as dead as it is. That kind of gameplay only works in World of Warships because the gameplay is so fast. In War Thunder, the only time naval is that fast is when you're getting focused fired to death by 3+ enemies at short range because you tried to get to the cap after they took it.
I’ve put a suggestion on the forum for a new PvE air game mode inspired by DCS
basically summed up naval
oh u wanna play large battleships and have a fun slugfest with the enemy battleship, TOO BAD cuz the enemy had a dinky little pt boat go to the far away cap and take it to bleed you to defeat
this gamemode design forces you to take a coastal spawn yourself to combat the far spawn and the match is thus decided by the first 2 seconds of engagement between 2 coastal players
it really is infuriating as even if u win that first engagement and secure the win u get nothing cuz u cant do anything to the larger ships unless you have some decent torps
USA coastal has literally 1 tech tree boat that too almost at the end of the line that can reliably be uptiered for these cap battles and has decent torps to be a threat to the battleships
the only other alternative is an overpriced premium event version of that same boat
I don't mind the slow pace of the top tier, I just hate how 1 person can influence the game mode so much that the game ends before your first shots even land somewhere
Gayjin's stupidity is the 2nd reason for absence of new modes, 1st one is - "we will not introduce anything that cannot be monetized"
That’s one reason I really like heliborne. It has very distinct role for scout , attack , and utility helicopters. It also has a very easy drop in drop out of game mode(not in enhanced edition). It’s also why them just abandoning it without making a European/rest of the world tech tree just feels criminal. There is so much that could be done with that game.

Fun fact: the stingers have eccm so you dont need to worry about a plane flaring because the missle will ignore it

ECCM can still be flared, just depends on the ECCM method. If stinger has sekker ECCM they just need to change aspect, cut burner and flare from a bit of range (which there will be, stingers suck in range, i dont have any helis but have like 4000 games in 12.0 air rb so i know missiles). so honestly theyre inconsistent. By look of the, only fire when the seeker has them locked properly, not flares (trhe guy in vid uses them awfully) and fire close rear aspect if you can, Basically fier as close as possible, not the silly ranges he dopes in this video.

@@anrw886 Yeah, in my experience, stingers are decent in range. They can lock from pretty far away and pretty consistently kill the plane unless they move or it's an su25
@@BritishGrenadier69 lock is fine. It's how far the missile actually goes. Most missiles can lock 2x their actual range
For transport Helo's it'd be cool if we could use them to drop additional resupply points and such, so rather than having to go to a capture point to resupply you could have your blackhawk or whatever drop a box you could resupply from. Maybe though have them be limited time, so you drop a box that exists for, say, 2 minutes.
That'd also mean vehicles that are much better suited to support roles from the rear than being right up in the fray aren't still forced to push up for resupply.
They'd have to increase the size of most of the ground rb maps in order for this to be feasible

i feel like a better way would just be to land by your team mates and you are the temporary resupply point until you take off again, would make things more realistic and reduce the chance of it being op in some situations

"Transport Helicopters" immediately makes me think of SQUAD-style gameplay with FOBs and logistics, which I would love to see in War Thunder. It'd be really cool to see some of the APC/IFC tanks have the capability of dismounting a squad of AI infantry that can establish a "FOB" on an EC map, and then have the ability to supply it from map-edge Main Base using logistics helicopters/trucks/aircraft.
Such a shame for what they did to the ML having worked on one IRL. I'm sad that they didn't add .50 cal gun pods or the 30mm that's also used on the Apache. The ML has so many different wing stores that it works really well as a gunship IRL but it takes a hit by forcing its role in WT

Transport helicopters could work like capture points where they can resupply ammo and crew. But I don’t know how many people would want to do that. It would be cool to see tho

I think a good middle ground that wouldn't be too hard to implement is to give utility helicopters the ability to mark for team (like with scout drones). This way these helicopters have another use beyond just being another (arguably worse) missile boat.
Well, the ESSS version is supposed to provide CAS while dropping troops, since they work in pairs. Maybe you can swing a couple of Stuart tanks to the battlefield?
Transport helicopters being able to deploy AI Infantry to capture points would be incrediblely cool, maybe have them be very good at capturing points and potentially have anti tank weapons to deal some damage (they have enlisted so make it happen snail)
Sir, in my opinion the uh60L wouldn't really becomparable to an ah64 in the sense that i think DAP is not really use in conversational army, i think the nightstalkers are the only one using them. And their purpose is just to gain fire superiority in their battle space when they infil, exfil or support the special forces. I think they are just additional firepower when they are going to those elite guys. Small number of birds but a lot of firepower, and gain fire superiority as fast as possible. Love you vid sir ❤❤❤❤
I agree that they're incomparable in real life use, but they weren't being compared in that sense, they were being compared for their role in war Thunder and there their roles are identical
@@stevenhartl3716 yes, we already know that a lot of vehicle in war thunder won't be used on how they were supposed to do in real life like SPA. All I'm saying is what the DAP meant to do and the reasoning behind it in real life. In order for us to have proper insight on it's advantages and disadvantages and what role it plays within the confined of game. 🙂

The name escapes me, but there was a heli pvp game where you could pick up small ai infantry squads and they were the ones you dropped off to cap points on the ground. The AI troops would defend the cap point with their small arms (man pads or AT launchers depending on what came near)
This is how I'd want infantry in Warthunder, not playable, more acting as turrets in a sense, static defense. Dropped off by heli's or appropriate ground vehicles with the space, and they act as small resistance so you cant just roll up to a cap without potentially taking a rocket. This would add more use for machine guns and the IFV gameplay but I doubt the devs would add this as shooting infantry would bump the games maturity rating up.
You might be referring to Heliborne. I loved playing that game. It's a shame it didn't get more attention honestly

Turbine engines create condensation through 2 ways. 1 they compress and heat the moisture in the air which condenses in the exhaust, 2 a small amount of water is produced in every combustion engine which also condenses out in the exhaust.
Hydrocarbons have hydrogen molecules. A small amount of fuel is broken down into its base components by the heat and that hydrogen goes on to make water vapor.
Wish we had not only attack helicopters, but utility ones as well (full utility, not talking about HUEYs) for point capturing, troops transportation etc...Like...There are so many ways this could play out...And I know there would be those who'd enjoy this kind of gameplay
Flying with 180kmh roughly 10 meters above the ground before just dumping all your rockets randomly and hoping to hit something without ever aiming is honestly the true helicopter way in WT xD
I can see them attempting to pull something similar to Heliborne. Having helicopter and tanks still in the same game but helicopters could be used to carry supply caches to the front lines or drop off troops to assist in capturing zones. Only this one would have better physics than heliborne.

The ah64a and a AH1z are the same br as it but they have guns and aa missiles without sacrificing main weapon pylons and they are more maneuverable and survivable, like any br below them makes more sense

Bro, who wants a WarThunder Helicopter campaign, they should concider making it feel like Arma bc these devs' inhability to think kills me, like where and why irl would you find a Blackhawk deployed solely for assault, if an AH-64 Apache is available??. Plus a vehicles like the Gepard, where on Earth would you catch one of those in an assault mission with against a bunch of Abrams and Leclercs? Like they should add a different purpose to these vehicles other than fighting head to head, like campaigns or missions.

you should check out the su-122, it's pretty well armored and angled plus big gun with HE and HEAT which makes it amazing at 2.7
The black hawk in the game is the DAP version which stands for direct action pentrator
2 rocket pods and 8 hellfires is the best way to play this heli. After i got the hellfires and rockets all unlocked its how i aced it. Rockets are good out to a mile and hellfires can hit the targets past that. Smartest way to play it
they at least could had given it a minigun on the sides.
but who knows maybe there will be more versions in the future.

It looks like you are using full fuel, and if you reduce the fuel load you get a little more maneuverability out of it.
This whole video was pretty painful to watch. Just 16 minutes of below average heli gameplay. Boring...
hey man just a good tip and i do hope you read this because it will help you out, go into you keybinds and find a thing called (manual roll control) assign a key to it and then while you are in your heli, click that button into (ON mode) and it will stop the heli from fighting you when you are trying to tilt, it makes it so much easier trust me.
Could allow teammates wihtin a certain distance to replenish crew members in the future????

I wish Gaijin would give it miniguns at least, we could have a true gunship Blackhawk with at least two miniguns for the inner pylons similar to the Little Bird, even have a way to defend yourself at close range against other aircraft with the guns and not just the stingers

Gaijin added the MH-60L DAP to appease the player base that wanted a new hellfire that they refuse to add because "BALANCE"
I applaud players that bring SAMs at the start of a match. Ive died or had been damaged too much times at the start of a match at the hands of AH-1s Cobras or UH-1 Hueys

I really feel like the DAP should have a additional equpiment that the version of the DAP had in Heliborne, stock fixed Gau-2 7.62 miniguns and a fixed 30mm apaches gun
Someone convince the snail to add A.I infantry that we can transport to objectives. They're already in the game all they need to do is make animations for them exiting the helicopters, program pathfinding so they can make move around the map, and change their skin depending on the BR.

The air to air stingers are so ass lol. Good thing the tiger uht I use has pars that also work as AA
I do first spawn heli sometimes and unload the whole rocket from far away. Its very good in urban where enemies pile up. I get multiple kills or crits if unlucky
Its also better to fly higher and fast unless somebody is sam main

The Blackhawk was always designed with the ability to act as a combination transport/gunship as it was conceived to compete with the Hind. It was determined that a dedicated attack helicopter was the better choice, but The Blackhawk was designed to fit weapon pylons and carry the avionics needed to support them lol.
It definitely tilts more towards transport and utility.

Funny thing is the best aa vehicle in game is the z10/19 which is a heli. Its the most agile heli in game with 8/16 ty90’s which are a 6km deathzone for any plane if locked. It combines the ircm of the r73 and aim 9m plus a rocket that burns the entire 6 km range which lets it turn 20g’s the entire time making it impossible to flare and very hard to out manoeuvre, even if you somehow manage to doge one the second ty90 will be the last thing you see before you’re sent back to the hanger

They should add a modification for the Huey’s where you get the side gunners

Used to work near 160th in campbell, saw the mh60 and their mh47’s flyijg around all the time
You fired an ATGM with a range of 8 klicks at a helo that was damn near 11 klicks away. Yeah, I fuckin' wonder why it didn't hit.

Hellfires happy rang is like 6km but even less when it has to travel up
War Thunder shines best when you ignore the META and play what is fun.
The main benefit of it is having AGM-114K's at 11.3. The viper only has the B variant. And while people will insist the difference is negligible I get far fewer 1 hit kills with the B's than the K's.
But that aside, just fly it to fly a Blackhawk.
May just be me but after completing the entire US heli tech tree but the AH6M just COMPLETELY spoiled the tree and is in my opinion the best helicopter in the US tree. And in regards to first spawn being a heli the little bird serves this role better than all of them COMBINED. The agility it has allows for wizzing though tree lines with ease and do things no other can.
Fun fact it is able to carry tracking rockets but not that many hydra I think

I think they should give it 8 hellfires and take it down to 10.3 where it'll be with the Lynx for Britain. They're both play similar roles irl so i couldnt see it being too much of a problem

Warthunder needs Artillery and alike to be able to do their job. M109s just slinging HE at point blank isnt great.
helicopters just need their own dedicated mode, NOT the pve event thing where everyone is competing for 12 ground targets at the same time and where lower level helicopters are completely useless

i think you guys dont get its military role, in real life is Navy's Swiss knife of a helicopter so has Different Procurement requirement's like stronger engines for long naval roles so this model gets you a different black hawk
This variant variant the Blackhawk is the pavelow variant. Used to support special forces like navy seals with insertion and extraction as well as fire support.
Far more common with Army forces.

it should totally be like a mini nuke where if you land somewhere near the battle then your team gets 1k tickets in the match and your teams meter gets extended

Imagine Gaijin adds Airwolf to the game. Before you bite my head off I know the helicopter didn't exist and was just a TV Show. It would be cool though

They somehow managed to make the DAP wrong it can mount the GAU-9 and a 30mm cannons.
If you press the hover-mode key while moving the helicopter tries to stop as fast as possible on his own.
They need to come up with other game modes
I mean DAPs are cool and all but it’ll never be an AH. Only tangos and 160th guys swear by DAP and even then only one battalion uses them.
You should play L3/33, it's the only way to enjoy (In war thunder terms: Enjoying=Pain) war thunder.

It's a cool helicopter to have in the tree. With that said it has ZERO business being at 11.3 in RB. This is the same BR as both the AH-1Z and the AH-64A which are just objectively better in just about every category. I have no clue why anyone would pick this over the other 2 besides spading it. Other than that it adds nothing to the US tree and just a worse version of other 11.3 heli's.

you have to have a heli with unguided rockets or less. they game doesn't let you spawn in with certain weapons depending on how many spawn points they take.

Helis in the game are so bad because you can use jets with them .. helis are not ment to be use went there is enemy air in the AO …. Also … you can’t use blinding effect .. meaning when u get close to the ground depending on the stage u should be able to use the dust from the ground to help cover your movements .. heli life expectancy in this game is damn near 0

Idk man I don’t think the Blackhawk was properly flown in this video. If you want heli kills you need to know your ranges first. Understand at the bottom of your screen where the vertical line is that says about 28k feet, that’s your max range. Anything above that, don’t even fire. Secondly, with such a big helicopter, get your tail 15,000-20,000 feet away from targets. Granted this is still a 15-25 second travel time but you’re out for kills not to be killed. Playing slowly but sneaky. I’m not THE best in helis, but another TH-camr, Hunter shows exactly how helis should be flown in war thunder
I love how everyone in the comments is on the same page as ive been fore the past 6 years, the game modes are so dull, and tey get boring certain vehciles planes and helicopters main purposes are useless such as strikefighters in Air RB, Artillery tanks in Ground RB, ive been saying for so long that I dont understand as to why they dont make propper game modes where there is actuall teamwork and objecvctives neded to win, just things like one others dudes comment stating ressuply from logistic helicopters and such small thing, more different types of objectives and gamepay features but they just refuse to make the game mor einteresting, and its so TILT!
Too bad mast bumping doesnt exist in War Thunder....
So many vehicles yet so few game modes.. No point grinding or paying for a vehicle if you can only test fly it or arb 😅 what a shit show gaijin..
