both are very good headsets. I used the Pico 4 for more than a year for PCVR, while my Quest 2 was only for Standalone. I use both about 50/50, so there is no real major preference for me here. The Quest 3 however has replaced both of them now, because for PCVR and Standalone it's an improvement in (almost) all aspects.
It's worth noticing that the visuals of the Quest 3 generally are better than on Pico 4, because the displays have better colors, are brighter and the overall edge-to-edge clarity is also better. However, the Quest 3 has a vignette, which darkens the left and right borders of the screen.
In addition to this, the Pico 4 only supports 72 and 90Hz, while the Quest 3 supports 72, 80,90 and 120Hz and that is a big deal for me. Some standalone games work noticably better in 120Hz, especially sports games like ELEVEN and First Person Tennis. Also 120Hz is the only option to play 60fps videos smoothly, although unfortunatelly the Quest 3 does not support native 60Hz anymore like the Quest 2 did. This also means that recording PCVR at native 60Hz is not possible on Quest 3, which is a real shame.
Regarding comfort, the Pico 4 feels lighter and with the AMVR facial interface it's the most comfortable headset i have ever used. You can also easily attach a small 5000maH powerbank at the back, which gives even more balance. The Quest 3 needs an additional headstrap and also an additional powerbank. I currently use the ZyberVR with a 10000maH powerbank attached to the back and that works very well. I got used to the Quest 3 facial interface, but am still waiting for a new facial interface from AMVR or another company to make it as comfortable as possible.
For PCVR the Quest 3 has some advantages. it supports Wifi6E and the AV1 codec, which gives you near display-port visuals if you're using a new GPU on your PC. Encoding and Decoding is faster on Quest 3 and SSW has also improved a lot, especially when using Virtual Desktop.
Having said that, the Pico 4 with 128GB is still a best-price option to play PCVR only with some limitations. For everything else, and if you have the money, the Quest 3 is the way to go.

Pico4 for PCVR ONLY is the winner - this is if you use the AMVR mask that gives the largest FOV of all standalone headsets. Its unbelievable.

A spec you didn't mention was the RAM that's 8Gb on both too. Great comparison video, thank you for summing it up. I have owned a Quest 2 since launch in 2020 and recently ( within the last month ) bought a Pico 4 and certainly notice a great improvement between the Quest 2 and Pico 4, the operating system on the Pico 4 just seems more stable, it connects to a PC much easier than the Q2 does and accepts usb sticks for some things.
When you consider the Q3 is brand new and the P4 is a year old, I think the Pico does a pretty good job of sizing up to the Quest 3, the pass through and mixed reality is where it really falls short though. I'm very interested to see what the Pico 5 does next year.

THE SERIAL NUMBERS ON THE HEADSET DO NOT MATCH THE SERIAL NUMBERS ON THE BOX. I HAD HUGE ISSUES WITH RETURNING MINE TO ARGOS

Nice review. I didn't buy any of the Quest or Pico headsets until I bought the Quest 3. Previously I used a CV1 and HP Reverb G2, the latter mainly for simming. Happy to say the Quest 3 is an amazing peice of kit. For simming particularly in MSFS the £619 512 GB Quest 3 has completely replaced the £719 HP G2 and the edge to edge clarity is really impressive. I've also played more games on the Quest 3 than I played on the G2 and CV1 combined. I tried Pico at Westfields, White City in the UK and it was nice but remember thinking it was uncomfortable. Quest 3 strap is ok but also has an uncomfortable facial interface, will be purchasing a new strap. The range of mods for the Quest family of headsets is a massive plus over the Pico 4.

Hi, I have been using the Pico4 for over a year now and I'm still amazed by the quality in PCVR gaming. Two weeks ago I bought the Quest3, which is amazing too. Yesterday I tried Skyrim VR on my Quest and after a while I changed to my Pico4. To me it seems that the game looks much better in the Pico4. It seems that the picture in the Quest is a bit blown up and not very sharp. Maybe I have to adjust the settings in Virtual Desktop. But for the moment, the Pico4 stays my preferred headset for watching movies and playing PCVR games. It's so much more comfortable than the Quest 3. And though I thought it would be an advantage for the Quest to have a faster chip to decode the signals from my PC, in reality I don't notice any difference.

Currently have a CV1, the pico 4 is coming on monday and I'm torn. On one hand I'm still angry that oculus held my game library hostage tied to my fb account and that they removed oculus home so going forward I wanted to avoid anything meta.
On the other the options are to drop thousands on the pimax or bigscreen, or settle for vr that is on par with the quest 2 or 3 and also cope with losing the games that I brought in the meta store.
Now that I've written it down the last time I felt like this was ditching apple for android and that too was weighted against losing a library of apps, in retrospect that the right choice so there might be some teething but getting out of the meta ecosystem before they get their claws much deeper will hopefully turn out alright.

I had the Pico4 and switched to the Quest 3. But only because I play competitive sports games and I need the 120 hz and always fast updates). The Quest 3 is a bit better everywhere except for the price and the comfort (even with Elitestrap, because it's lighter and the weight is nicely distributed).
There are 3 groups I recommend the Pico 4 to
In PCVR they are almost on par (Quest 3 slightly better), but since the comfort and price is significantly better, I would go for the Pico 4 (+Virtual Desktop) for pure PCVR.
Pure sports gamers (unless you play competitively) will also have more fun with the Pico 4, due to the better comfort and because the graphics are second rate

And casual gamers who don't need a huge game library and have to watch their money when buying.
Ultimately, the Quest 3 is the better, more sophisticated headset and if money is no object, I would always choose it over the Pico 4. If it does, I would recommend the Pico 4 to the groups mentioned above.

Hey Mac! I have a question for you about the P10 VR headphones. I just got them to use with the Quest 3. So far, they work great with it. When I want to use Oculus Link wired, I plug them into the computer to get the sound cause the pass-through doesn't have the data. However, when I do that, the connection between the headphones and the dongle is extremely poor. If I am less than 1 meter away and it breaks completely. It seems to only work great with the Quest 3 because the dongle is right next to the headphones. Have you tried it this way, and how was your experience?

I use them with my PS5 with the dongle plugged into the PC using the 4K Elgato app to capture video on OBS.
