    It was satisfying! 🤗 I pre-coat my pressed flowers by laying them on my silicone mat, this works great to avoid bubbles later but, make a real mess of my mat so, I just roll my mat up and knead it like bread for a min. or so.. then, take it outside and hose it down. If my resin hasn’t gone off on me.. I just wipe everything out/down with alcohol wipes right after I pour, while the resin is still uncured.

    Why don't you get one of those small air coolers for the art room. Aldi has the for around $20. You fill with water (suggest you use distilled) plug in and it should make it much cooler. They are more expensive on line. Distilled water prevents mineral build-ups and extend the life of the unit. Save receipt, warranty for 2 years.

    I clean my cups the same way you do, but I do clean my stir sticks with alcohol or baby wipes immediately after use. I have this thing about keeping them clean. It's weird I think. The leftover dried-up cup resin could be used to make coasters or you could paint on them and hang them up on the wall, or as ornaments. You could cut out pieces from different colors and use them as embeds for other projects, same with shavings if you shave pieces off.

    Love your work. The best tip I can give to clean resin off cups mats etc. Get one of those lint rollers - the ones with the tape you peel off. Rub it over the area with resin and it brings it all off. Much quicker thank tape. Let me know what you think of this tip

  • @cynthoma
    @cynthoma 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use the same Dollar Tree measuring cups. Resin peels right off of parchment paper. I simply turn my cup upside down on a piece of parchment paper. The next day a thin layer of resin peals right out. And you don’t need the tape routine. I watched resin artists for ages before one of them suggested this. I have no suggestions for the silicone cups. I have the same problem.

    Instead of glue to clean the mat use gorilla tape press it down good it will lift everything off of silicone mat. Also, to clean your tools easier, clean them with acetone before resin cures. Another tip buy silicone mold release spray to use on your cups and mat, everything will clean easier especially if it cures.

  • @shatharis
    @shatharis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glad to know i'm not the only one that doesn't clean all the little droplets off the inside of the cups. I have been known to turn the silicone cups inside out and rubbing alcohol to help clean them. It's very handy for those that get dusty occasionally since it dries fast.
    Some resin drips from cups and mat are nice to reuse for inclusions in clear resin for pops of color and an abstract look

    👋 heyas Spray down everything, even the matts (with a good release spray) after peeling & cleaning up.. it rehydrates the silicone & makes it last so much longer. My cups & little bowls would dry out/get brittle after a half dozen or so uses.. now I spray them & they last another twenty or more uses. Molds I spray after peeling & using packing tape donuts .. then another quick spray just before pouring. They’ve lasted & lasted.. only replaced one bc I used almost daily and I can still use it but the bottom edges got sharp from running my stir stick around to release bubbles. Pennies per use to extend the life of expensive molds & silicone tools.. and saving the planet from daily disposables 🌎🙌💯

      @@shaunacorrigan9372 Sprayway Silicone Spray - I got it from Amazon in 11oz red cans & it took about 10 days to arrive bc it comes from the actual company. A can lasts a long time. I was just spraying the molds quickly after cleanups but I saw somebody else saying theirs wasn’t working so I tried doing a spray right before I poured & all my pieces popped out like magic. I never wash them in the sink. I run a tape donut (cheaper packing tape works best for me bc no residue is left behind) across the surfaces BEFORE removing the piece to clean up any glitters or drizzles & then remove the pieces, any stubborn glob on top use a fingernail to loosen & continue with tape.. afterwards I spray them to rehydrate. In minutes it soaks in a disappears! Then just before pouring I step off to the side and do a quick spray. Same with the cups & bowls.. I leave a tiny bit of epoxy resin in them & let it cure, then peel it out & use the tape donuts to remove any bits.. then spray the release spray.. just before mixing up colors I step off & spray lightly. It makes it super easy to clean up afterwards 👌 Before using the spray my molds lost their shiny gloss after only a few few pours. Each pour the epoxy takes some of the finish with it. The spray makes a barrier. Silicone cups & bowls didn’t last long before they were impossible to clean without cracking. It’s just good stuff. Happy Arting!

      @@debrajol3585 Yeah, I use packing tape too, don't see any reason to spend more money on duct tape and like you said, sometimes it leaves a residue behind. I'll definitely be ordering some of that release spray to try out. Thanks for the tip!!🤗

    Are the measuring cups a specific type of plastic?
