Just watched a video on YT where Elmer's glue is painted on the back before a topcoat is poured. It doesn't leave any sticky residue when removed. Using the glue will be less expensive than latex.
Exactly what I was wondering/thinking too!! I bet Mode Podge would work well too... Has anyone tried that??
The only issue I see is the glue wont be strong enough. The liquid latex holds together better... BUT I do have resin, coaster molds, AND both glue and latex so I may give it a try. Will have to see how it goes n try to remember to come back. Or remember to make a vid on it lol

Great tips, white Elmer's school glue or glue all works just as well as liquid latex it's a good alternative for people with latex allergies 💜😁

DUUUUUUUUDE! THAT LIQUID LATEX WAY WAS WAAAAAAY EASIER TO REMOVE WITH A CLEAN EDGE! I LIKE THAT IDEA! It may take a bit linger but it definitely looks amazing!

I miss your videos from your room! (I think the background looked so pretty.) I've been using PVA glue instead of latex, its heaps cheaper and doesn't smell either 💖
I’ve been using blue tape on the back of my coasters, and I’ve found it leaves no residue on the back of them and the resin just glides right off my coasters! I’m just randomly watching TH-cam videos, and I’ve been doing resin for roughly 4 years and I always learn something new from watching your videos.

I thought I'd made a huge mistake a couple of years ago. Bought some resin and like a green mica glitter. Made 8 pendants and still had loads left over. Thought mmmmmm my hearth and wooden fireplace need painting. Painted my said hearth and fireplace, came downstairs the morning after and omg it had like grey runs all over it, could still see some of the wood through it and nearly cried. Then the sun shone on it and it flashed with bright green sparkles and i fell in love with it. My friends love it even if my mum isn't too keen. We never make mistakes-we just learn lessons x
And never change who you are. It helps brighten my day
Have you tried high grit wet sanding and Zona papers for polishing? That's what we use and the pieces come out super glossy.
I dome my pieces exactly how you do the liquid latex. Just push the resin right up to the side with a stick carefully

I warm the hardener which is thinner in a warm bowl of water, then remove the mixing container, dry it - and add the thicker resin and stir. Works great. Thanks for all the great tips!

Don’t stop being yourself! Dance and sing all you want!! It’s your brand! You have taught me so much! Resin is now my favorite hobby (besides wishing I could do my makeup like yours). If I’m having a bad day I’ll actually rewatch some of your videos to watch your out takes and laugh my butt off! Don’t forget to do another hubby video segment too. The Sharpie spaceship was fantastic!! My 19 year old even rewatched that one with me! Love your videos, keep up the great work!

Do you have a video that you explain all the different types of resins and what specifically you use them for. I've just recently come cross resin and I'm obsessed. You're literally the only person I watch now lol

That’s completely ridiculous, if you don’t like how someone is acting in a video, simply stop watching. It’s completely rude to expect someone to change how they live and act simply because you don’t like it.

I was wondering: if you are making a larger floral piece (like in your wedding bouquet video) would you topcoat all sides including the back? If so, how would you do the back?

Hey Girl,
I work with liquid latex a lot and if you wanted to give it a go a quicker way would be to dab on a thing layer of latex with a disposable sponge then once that layer is dry (you can speed it up with a hair dryer on cool) dust over some loose powder you could use like a cheap setting powder or even like cooking flour.
Then just repeat that process a couple of times until you have you desired thickness (I would probably recommend 7-10 times)!! hopefully that helps its a little more effort but will have it done faster :)

I usually paint on my top coat to use less resin and because I do so much texturing. On flat pieces like this, in your experience, would it make a big difference pouring a top coat vs. painting it?

Hi Heather! I have a question. I was wondering: Is the reason you don’t *have* to sand your black jagged coaster, before topcoating it, because you’re specifically using a *coating* resin? I’m assuming you used a different kind of resin for the layer under that? I was always under the impression that you have to sand your piece before the top coat, in order to provide tooth, and because otherwise it won’t adhere correctly because the surface is the same, essentially. I know in the video during the Q/A part, you mentioned that you don’t sand pieces beforehand unless you’re wanting to fix unevenness from the top, but I didn’t hear you say anything about the top coat not adhering properly to the resin from the previous layer, so that’s why I was wondering.

Thank you for another great video! Would it be possible for you to voice over your resin work instead of captioning? I love to watch you while I paint or pour resin and it's hard for me to keep up because I'm not always looking at the screen. Am I the only one who misses her coasters and alcohol ink videos
I tape the entire bottom of the coasters and then cut the tape around the edge so it covers the bottom like the latex without having to wait for the latex to dry....even on the jagged edged coasters, I am able to cut the tape close around the edge. Have you ever done this method?
I once did a project where I used blue tape all over the bottom, and then when it was still very sensible for fingerprints I could peel it off like butter and the little drops just 'tore apart' right with it at the perfect spot. Gotta be careful though not to touch at the wrong spot b/c fingerprints.

Instead of the liquid latex have you ever considered experimenting with using melted wax as your resist? It would set fast, it's cheap, easy to remove, etc... Might be worth trying. BTW: If you don't want to have to use a blow dryer you could get a small portable heater.
