    I have been detecting for over 35 yrs and I know of several large caches found. The ones that I saw myself were never talked about, and no pics taken. All the serious cache hunters I've ever known were very discrete and very private. 90% of those guys are dead and gone.

      The combination of the price of gold, new technology to locate the caches like metal detectors and Lidar just to name two, and finally the new ability to do research from home that just a few years ago wasnt possible has created a perfect storm for those of us that understand! It’s ok if the majority of people think it’s for kids and movies lol. I’ll keep stacking in the mean time. Good luck to you.

    It's really this kind of thing that makes metal detecting so interesting 🤔 you can come upon something such as this or just a bunch of rusty nails. You never know! No matter what you do though... you get to learn about history and that makes it that much more exciting 🙌 congratulations on the find boys and even if you don't find anymore you both have a nice stack and a nice story to go with it 😊

    I had an AT max for 1.5 years its alright got some neat stuff with it. But decided to try the nox 900 and wow. re-hunting the same ground with no minelab experience with the 900 in hand has produced and i am blown away. I have gotten more silvers in the first 12 days of swinging the nox than in those one and a half years with the AT max. I still like my Max but I think its going up on the wall to collect cobwebs until I need a backup or loner for a friend. I am not a pro at detecting just what happened for me. If any of you do get a nox I would go back to your good sites and swing again with it for sure. I park nearby me i went over I thought really hard a few times with the MAX and no silvers. Same park with the 900 and 15 silvers maybe I didn't have the settings right but this is just one noobs observation.

    It’s a bunch of copper. Far cooler for the story than for the melt value.

    • @steveallen984
      @steveallen984 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I don't get why the guy felt like he needed to bury copper rounds. They cost more they they are worth unless somebody wants one as a collectible but how much is an Oz of copper worth when it's $3.00 a lb? The fatty Indian and the 1 Morgan dollar was IMO the best thing they had. Imagine digging up a cache and it had copper ounces in it SMH. I wouldn't stop digging until I found the silver and gold. If he was a hoarder who had money to buy that many copper chotskys he must've had some silver at the very least. My last cache I found was a sterling silver box that said Solace on the top. It looked like a silver sucrets box at first. I know she had coins when I grabbed it the thing had some weight. It had 4 gold double eagles and 2 gold eagles from the 1840's but the hallmarks inside the silver box dated 1875 from Birmingham England. It took me months to realize he didn't hide 6 gold coins he hid $100 because that was it's face value. I had permission to hunt this home built in 1901 in exchange for cutting out a tree that fell over. It was crazy because I dug early colonial coins and a Spanish half Reale. This is the crazy part. It was 5 feet from the outhouse about 14 inches down and it started pouring rain as I was digging the hole so I grabbed it put it in my bag and as I went to go keep dry I heard the detector go off on the north side but I didn't dig it because it started lightning really fast plus it was a down pour by then. Had I known at the time I would've covered the detector and dug it up. It wasn't until we got inside when I opened it up and almost had a heart attack right then and there because it was so shiny inside there was no doubt in my mind that they were gold and the box was sterling silver being it was shiny also. I was never allowed permission back to dig the other hit by that outhouses. To this day I keep watching and hoping they move and I will get permission from the realtor one way or another. I had later learned there was a pig farm on that property since the 1700's which explained the colonial coppers in the yard of a home built in 1901. I always wondered if the old man (grandfather) who built the home hid his gold when it was illegal to own gold in 1933. There's more caches of hidden depression era gold coins then people know about because many of the men who buried it died in WWII. Not all of the sites are necessarily very old houses since 1933 was less than 100 years ago. I was expecting to see gold and silver mixed in with the "Copper?". Maybe they aren't telling the whole story here? Then again I wouldn't either

    Once a older man had me dig up a 4" PVC pipe that was 8' long and capped on both ends. He said he wanted me to have what was in it. It took his riding mower to pull it out. It was completely packed with pennies. If I remember right it was $86 worth of pennies, some old and some new. He also showed me where he had buried a milk jug full of nickels. All had turned green from water intrusion. Soon after he passed away. Who knows what he had buried in his lifetime and where.

      I’ve sold all the gold and silver I’ve found over the years. Sometimes I think it would be cool to have it all in one place to show people, or refine it all into a bar, or whatever. I’ve paid for my metal detector many times over just in clad change. For me, metal detecting is more of an addiction, rather than a hobby. But I don’t mind… no harm done.

    I found a 1998 d penny and 2 beer tops. They are threaded beer tops, like Budweiser or Coors, something like that. Also found some rusty wire. The penny I found is pretty much corroded away. Barely see the date.

  • @bassmaster1953
    @bassmaster1953 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Morgan dollars would have value beyond the silver content, but they are badly damaged. They could possibly be restored to some extent. The reverse has the mint mark and CC mint marks are coveted. Grading companies can do restorations.

    Awesome finds! I was wondering about how long ago did the guy bury the coins? Was it like 30-40 years ago?

    • @everettwhite9874
      @everettwhite9874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those bars are relatively new. By that I mean they appear to be recently minted. However, I saw a 1878 Morgan so it hard to tell how long ago they were buried.
      They aren’t interested now in trying to sell them but I surely be checking the dates of the coins even though they have heavy environmental damage. Still, that’s a great find with possibly more to find. Some guys have all the luck. Good for them and HH.
