      Well, we still have a lot of tournament to go. When these subjective measures are used to benefit a team in the later stages I don't think it will be so great. Just wait for a game in which Brazil/Argentina/France/etc (just examples, again, the tournament is just starting really) struggles late with a team pushing for a result and see how they add 1 minute of stoppage. Or the automated offside/VAR starts benefitting those same favorites. It has happened for almost 100 years, it will happen this WC

    • @ordetschmordet9227
      @ordetschmordet9227 ปีที่แล้ว

      Time-wasting is more about disrupting the momentum of the attacking team rather than simply just running down the clock.
      As such, I suspect inferior teams will continue to do it whether the time is added at the end or not. The only difference is they'll get better at knowing how much time is remaining and be ready for it. I won't be surprised if some team is eventually able to cause 20 or 25 minutes of added time in matches.

    Wow, thank you SO much for keeping a laser-focus on all of this! I’m in the US, where our tv/streaming coverage is literally paid for by Qatar Airways. Every commercial break has an ad for Qatar in it, (how innovative & inclusive it is!) Not one word has been said about any controversy- migrant workers, human rights, alcohol, rainbow signs, the obvious empty seats… none of it. They just blather on about how great the air conditioning is and how amazing the ostensible attendance figures are. 🤬

      Every year, tens of thousands of migrants from neighboring countries go there to work because they can make a lot more money that way and support their families back home. This has been going on for more than a decade and they keep doing this even to this day because they don't mind how difficult it is, as long as they make 5 to 10x the money they make at home. They would rather go to Qatar than Western countries that would not take them in for work in the first place. IF white people care so much about their working conditions, please take them in and help them instead. Oh, but you won't.

The amount of money and power Qatar has is crazy but noone is saying that is wrong. Look at all the power China has. And I can talk about the US they are deplorable with their gun violence and corruption but its not like Qatar just watch this video and try to tell me a country in the West that is doing something that bad and yes some countries history has been worse at times but do we really want to start comparing why don't we just call out everyones wrongdoings. No-one is saying anything bad about other countries in the Middle East because they are not hosting the World Cup and thousand of people from many countries thats just what comes with the responsibility. When USA Mexico and Canada host in 2026 I hope they get scrutinised as much as they deserve whether thats not much or just as much as Qatar which I dont think is likely but I wont rule out because thats unfair and you just don't know what could happen. I agree that the Western media loves propoganda and warps issues as well so you have to take everything with a grain of salt but its been proven now just how dodgy the whole process of this World Cup was from so many sources. I know they say all the bad apples were removed but its the system itself that is rotten and needs to be reformed with more transparency in all aspects of the organization. Why do we need or want FIFA? I don't mean as in some kind of governing body for international football, I mean as in why do we need a huge multi-billion dollar corporation like FIFA in charge? Since the 90s I've seen a clear shift where FIFAs main focus has become promoting themselves and increasing their revenue, rather than doing what is best for the game, and are now mainly focused around selling contracts for coverage of the world cup, which is not surprising since they are now making billions of dollars like this. For me we've reached the stage where FIFA is not actually good for the sport, and wholesale change is needed. FIFA's complete control of the game has allowed them to leverage their position in a way not seen with governing bodies in other sports, or with FIFA as they were before the last 20-30 years.

You could in theory get UEFA to break from FIFA, but there is a complicated financial system connecting the various teams. In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar.
    The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves.
    For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar.
    If the Europeans are sincere about those south East Asians, then they should hire them in Europe.

      France exploits workers in Africa to this day, do you support that? or does that not matter cause France is a "developed European nation"?
      Or how about global clothing brands treating labor from developing countries like slaves so they can make a larger profit?

      @@silvanafernandes8875 you could say the exact same thing to the people making a stink about the World Cup? The noise about Qatar has gotten so loud precisely at the moment it was too late to do anything about it. The worlds media should’ve made these noises back during the 2014 scandal, back when there was still time to pressure FIFA to cancel Qatar and pick somewhere else. It’s all too little too late now. 😔
