They are far cheaper than anything else on the market, unless you are buying the printed paper. But that works out a false economy as they don't hold up to food splashes and stains, so keep needing replacing.
@@DouglasLeites I did two things that worked pretty well. First I got some wood and simply attached them to make a 2' x 3' background. I then stained them fairly dark. For two others, I bought a sheet of plywood and had the store cut them down to 3' x 3'. I then got some contact paper that looked like granite and marble and applied it over the plywood. It turned out pretty well and in photos in looks real. So these were much cheaper than this product and didn't take too much skill or time to do yourself. There are some other methods on The Bite Shot youtube channel under DYI backdrops. Good luck.
Douglas Leite you wanna know an easier way buy plexi glass sheet at Home Depot 24x36 they are like $13 each.. then buy some adhesive liner there’s different styles at amazon the same size just stick the adhesive liner to the plexi glass then voila you got your self a backdrop.. this guy is selling his way too much..where you can make your own for under $25 bucks.. and yes those adhesive liners are waterproof too...
These look great!! How do we hold them together? I want to create a fake countertop and backsplash (two-sided) in my kitchen so I can cook and film in my apartment. Therefore, I need to hold them all together at 90º angles, so something horizontal and 2 for backslashes in a corner (so at right angles from each other). Do you have the brackets to hold them all together?
I see a lot of people saying that they’re too expensive... I don’t know, I’m new when it comes to food photography and I’m barely starting making money with my food photos but tbh I find them fair priced because of the quality. They’re great!!!! Thank You so much! I’ve been looking for high quality backdrops and these are amazing!
I wonder, how can you fix the reflection problem.. lights may shine on backgrounds which is shiny.. ? That has to be matte maybe right ? By the way thnks for video.. 👍
Watching this and I bought one with two sides and cost me same price for shipping because I am in Hawaii, Mainland people are lucky without shipping issue. It's a beautiful backdrop bit I don't say it's undestructable, it seems like printing on a foam board, the material is reaaly like that. Unfortunately I spilled Thai tea on it after just a few time uses and it stains that I cant clear it 😢
hey I'm sorry to hear that, I've had no issues with stains, however I have never spilled Thai tea on them. You can contact the company and address your concerns
At what kelvin number should my light source and white balance be when working with food. Someone once told me that natural light from 5000 to 5600 works best but you always shoot around 3000. Can you explain your decision? :D
Tungsten light is around that but for daylight it’s around 5600 however I like to put daylight at around 4900 I think the cooler tones tend to make food look fresher

Practically $400 in Canada, wouldn't recommend unless you have extra cash to splurge or if you're a dedicated product photographer. You can always start with a less expensive backdrop and save up for these later. They are no doubt amazing back drops tho.
We ship to Canada... !!! NO Duties or customs fees... around $19.95 for 2 backdrops = 4 textures. Use the Intl. shipping form and let us know what you'd like and we'll calculate your shipping.
Hopefully we will soon!!!! We just launched and if you want to fill out the Intl Shipping form with what you'd like to order and your address, we can see about the shipping rates.

Oh man, I love food photography but I don't have any great backdrops. If only there'd be some kind of place where I could buy some double sided backdrops.
Love your tutorials and your photography! I just got a few of the backdrops--they are definitely expensive but I think they'll be worth it especially for being so much lighter and easier to store than handmade ones! Thank you!
YES!! We now ship to Canada... no duties or customs fees. When you buy 2 backdrops (4 textures) with the promo code: SKY50 which is $50 off your order using Skyler's code, they come to $50 per side. They are not like other backdrops, so it's always best to compare apples to apples.

So I saw this video and thought this product was sooooooo dope! I don’t think it’s super overpriced but I’m sure he will adjust the pricing until he finds what works . Sure you can pay to make one of these backdrops for less , but the product comes with FOUR options and any person desiring varied shots will PAY for the convenience AND the PORTABILITY .
Great concept. But I’ve made enough of my own backdrops to know that they are much easier, and not so expensive to make myself, as you are suggesting. As I was watching the video I was thinking the cost of the backdrops would be about 25% of what they are actually selling for on that link. Oh well. Best wishes with them.
Barbara Hobart exactly. Overpriced. You can download all types of macro stock photos, which offer greater variety of different textured backgrounds, and then have them printed on plastic yourself for a fraction of the price. If you would like to buy these though to support this channel then please go ahead. Just saying they aren’t good value for money from a photographer’s perspective.
Instant PotLuck point taken. I’ve made my own wood backgrounds though and have been quite happy with the results. Not much effort or cost either and no glare or reflection issues. A bit of cheap wood and a bit of matte paint and stain. Not much too it. It’s more about the techniques to lay the paint on there to produce an interesting result. Cutting wood paint with water, then quickly wiping it off with a wet sponge before it dries into the wood produces some nice aged looking results.
@@hRt42kuo7jTtmk14 Definitely support these and Skyler. Plastic has glare and if you want to go through making them, you should. I don't find them high priced at all. Erickson and others are wayyyy more costly: $185 each + shipping I can't even lift them so I find these a great value. 2 designs for $79! Many photographers have different perspectives as to what is expensive. Glad Skyler is doing these.
Just finished my first photo following your advise on your videos. What do you think? The main photo on this video: th-cam.com/video/9Oh6yevtA0M/w-d-xo.html
While helpful I found this video just spent too much time going over advertisement and not enough on actual tips. I mean we know what mix and match means, is t necessary to explain what that means? I feel this video just needed just a minute to go over everything it offered with a link saying where to go to buy the backgrounds. Honestly disappointed
They are really too expensive.
If you're a hobbyist photographer, then yes. But if you're making money with your images, its a decent investment
@@Joeayresphotography even if you're a professional they're too expensive, because the item itself is overpriced for what it is
