Bless him, always bigging himself up re sales...born to boogie did get bad press generally..I was outside that night at the premiere ....great and exciting...a few years after I met Marc many times 74-75 throughout his drink/cocaine problems..unfortunately his behavior pissed off many people..I remember this interview...
The lines between fact and fiction were always blurred with Marc. That’s one of the things I liked about him. 25 million records, written five more books etc. Who cares. I’m 63, and still blow his stuff loud in the car. He got me through my teenage years. I’m straight, but had one hell of a crush on him as a kid. He brought the fun back into rock and roll. So what if it’s 3-4 chord songs! I’m a guitarist myself. It’s a lot of fun to play. Better than the symphonic rock posers who had 30 minute self-indulgent arty farty ego trips. Glam Rock was brilliant, and Marc and David were the kings. T.Rex live at Brixton Sundown was a highlight of my life. The journalist was probably from Melody Maker or some other snotty music paper. Marc was definitely Record Mirror. Loved you Marc. Shame you danced yourself into the tomb. Perhaps it was strange to dance so soon. But your music will live on forever, 20th Century Boy 💙
I got you beat by a few years. I turn 66 tomorrow and still blast T. Rex. I will always love Marc best and I get ticked off that interviewers were always so rude to him. I think they were jealous. He was an artist - he can say whatever he wants, right? 💕
I was at the Brixton sundown gig Xmas eve 1972, still remember all the fake foam snow ❄️ great show, lived in camberwell at the time 64 now and still love him and buying anything that comes out with his name or face on it.
@@Paul-ob1lc Have you ever seen the movie Withnail and I? There’s a character in the movie that rolls this gigantic joint that he calls a Camberwell carrot because he says he invented it in Camberwell and it’s as big as a carrot. If you haven’t seen the movie, check it out. It’s the funniest movie I’ve ever seen.
@@Paul-ob1lc i’ve seen the movie so many times I believe I could recite every single line, Ha. Nice to meet you, too. Keep a little Marc in your heart!
He isn't being arrogant, what's wrong with being confident and believing in your music? The interviewer just didn't understand Marc or his music. I think Marc was fantastic at what he did and I think he definitely would've done Live Aid if he lived long enough to be able to do so, he basically predicted it happening!
Amazing how he predicted the Video generation. He had already made a few promo videos for Jeepster and Telegram Sam. And check out the Chateau d'Herouville 'live' studio videos on TH-cam - so ahead of his time. Spooky that he predicted a huge 'live' charity event like Live Aid. Some things he said gave you a shiver...he even knew that he wouldn't reach middle age in a Russell Harty interview. And yes I agree with him, Tanx was the best, most progressive album he ever made. He was changing. Lots of sax and more unique sounding songs on that album. Shame he lost his way a little soon afterwards.
...best interview i've heard for yonks!.... love the interviewer trying to bring Marc's ego back down to earth!!....haha!....Love this!....who was the interviewer?
Well it was packed where I was with my best mate there were queues the interviewer is totally against Marc he had to put up with this sort of crap it was aggressive and uncalled for no one else got that sort of interview status quo played the same riff with all their songs but the sad thing is that most of Marcs fans are still doing it to this day I just wish these so called T.Rex fans would clear off and go and haunt someone else, he doesn't need this bad mouthing of his albums and some singles I loved all his work and still play them every time I'm driving!
Interviewer is like a UK politician total garbage head Marc bolan was a genius a learner an iniovater a boogie jive gospel reaggie purple prince warlock groover the rest including Bowie are protenders to the crown rock on in heaven boley
Haha! The truth is the film WAS shit! As were all Ringo’s celluloid adventures. His questions were quite reasonable considering MB was comparing his film to The Godfather - come on!
What ever you are into considering brando taught nothing of his praise received for the godfather all I know is bolans music will be here untill human extiction
I don't think the interviewer was too bad. Better a critical approach than gushing sycophancy. Bolan didn't seem to be particularly fazed by the style of questioning, and gave as good as he got!
Bolan showed the way for the rest to follow you only have to look at today chancers on uk singing contest ie the voice etc I have never seen anyone as good or as charming to all sexes as bolan
I love his speaking voice

He's actually talking about band aid yrs before it happened
Considering Marc evolved more than most artists do in their entire lives, the interviewer is giving Marc a lot of single-minded stick.
Typical condescending, non-artistic prick. There were many journalists who were like that , and still are 🙄
Marc always had these bastard rock journalists try to take him down..... I mean, complaining about 20th Century Boy?
Hi! Love the video - thank you so much for posting it! Big up Marc. Would you happen to know where it's from? Like what radio channel? :) Thanks!!!
Possibly the BBC.
