I had flanken short ribs for the first time last summer while visiting PNW. I was in Heaven! Before leaving I bought plenty to bring home and started experimenting with cooking methods. I did complicated marinades, BBQ , Sous Vide and a failed attempt at baking that resulted in almost jerkey. I was about ready to give up when I found this video. Absolutely incredible! And the method is so simple. Thank you so much!!
I used to work at a butcher shop and they way they achieved perfect cut korean short ribs was to semi-freeze the plate of beef and then they would slice it down. Semi-freezing it helps to create a clean and flawless cut.
I purchased these at Costco for the very first time. I’m so thankful to find your simple and quick technique for cooking these bone in short ribs. Thank you!!
I live in South Africa and lucky for us, short ribs are actually extremely cheap! In fact, they are the cheapest cut of beef you'll find anywhere. 😊When I first started carnivore woe, all I could afford was short ribs as I wasn't working and I actually felt pretty great after just a few days on the diet. I would get full quickly cause they're so fatty and lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. But then I lost my way and when I tried carnivore again, I forgot about short ribs and bought other cuts of meat. But in SA, meat is ridiculously expensive and the diet soon proved unsustainable for me cause I just couldn't afford to eat meat all day every day. Thank u for reminding me about this humble staple that served me so well when I first started carnivore 🙏 I'm going to try carnivore again but this time I'll only be eating short ribs and I know I will come back with a great testimony soon.
For the longest time our stores only sold the traditional cut for short ribs which made it a PAIN to do the “zig zag” style cut which made it thin and long, but they’ve recently started cutting it flanken style! I’m so happy I get to enjoy them without having to go out to a restaurant. 😊
In Hawaii we call it Kalbi... i just purchased 10lbs because Safeway hac them on sale for $5 a pound. You can't even find the traditional style short rib here. Ive beem on carnivore for 3weeks & wanted to find recipes or techniques that weren't marinateed in the traditional Korean way... Thanks for the video...
@@AliceCeeCPA Keep a eye out, once every 2 or 3 months they go on sale on the $5 Friday sale... You never know & it goes quickly so you have to shop in the morning not after work (I've made that mistake)...
I like flanken short ribs more than ribeye. I think they're perfect. Great fat to protein ratio then you get that little bit of cartilage around the bone
Here in Atlanta, got them 9.99 lb at farmers mkt, certified Angus beef. I want to research some butchers around to see what I can find lower price. I do like quality however.
I’m so confused on how to cook this meat. Some say low and slow-3 hours, some say quick, less that 5 minutes. I think I’ll oven cook till I smell them.
You can cook it low and slow if you want, we have done it in the instant pot too :) this cut is versatile so you can experiment with different methods to see what you like the best :)
I had 1/4 inch flanken ribs. 400 degrees for 13 minutes then 2 minutes broil. They were pink inside but not tender. Im disappointed. How can I cook them and get them more tender.
Hey Christine, if you want them more tender you might need to consider a slower cooking method. I have seen others use the instant pot for their flanken ribs :)

My Sam’s Club sells this cut of rib & is cheaper than the typical grocery store!
Thanks for sharing, hopefully it helps others! Wish we had a Sam’s Club in Canada
Just bought some at Sam’s today!
Just purchased my first package of these.. found your excellent video to show me how to cook them… we are carnivore newbies! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed!

One of the best video’s on carnivore on TH-cam. Love your channel. 😊😊
Easy and simple. Making this for dinner tonight.
We love it! Hope you enjoy!
They are incredible on the grill. The first time i had them was with one of my friends from Mexico. They are big out there as well.
Next time, can you show the Korean recipe and what spices are used

That little amount of cartilage is money 😉 thanks for watching!
Do this have more fat then protein or is it 1-1 like a ribeye
I love Redmonds smoked salt.
It’s absolutely delicious!
Excellent-Love the simple!!
Glad you like it!
That is just so goood 🤩 maybe I should try pork ribs some day! Thanks for sharing, much love from Singapore ❤️
glad you liked it, thanks for the support!
Awesome content. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed!
Yes those look a lot better than the ones I buy out the regular store. Much more fat in the meat.
Something about the way they do it at the Korean butchers!

Thanks for this easy carnivore recipe! Will the fat be crispy?
this one doesn't get super crispy but I promise it's very very tasty!
Could you use the leftover bones for broth?
These bones are super small so most likely it wouldn’t be enough for flavour
I save all my bones… Every little bit counts!
Could you add leftover bones into instapot or crock pot with other beef bones to make bone broth?
That's what I do! I never throw away bones. I keep a bag of bone in my freezer and when I have enough, I make broth

How to avoid them being tough? I thought I followed your recipe, thank you.
A fork and knife?!
How thick are the ribs? Whenever I make them they aren't tender. I want to try your recipie.
Hi there, they’re very thin, probably 1/4 of an inch at most!
JUICY!
Why play background music? It's sooooo distracting.
What kind 9f salt

Mine ended up too tough to eat except for the fat. $30 package.
Wow! New sub here! I recently made Baby Back Ribs on my page too and *your dish looks amazing!* Hope to stay connected! 😀
Pepper might burn??? 😂😂😂
