I was born and raised in Fairmount. As a kid growing up in Fairmount I never grasped what James Dean or Jim Davis impact had on people that wasn't from there until my teenage years. I went to school with Marcus's son and you would have never guessed he was related to a legend. The Winslow family is a treasure of Fairmount not only because of Jimmy but because of who they are as people of our town.

Mainly because they do not act like they are related to a Hollywood legend, but because they have not allowed it to change them. That is what is important!

James Dean is alive today because of this sweet man and his family! They have allowed him to live on! Thank you, Sir, for your generosity, your tolerance of all the many years of questions and curious fans, and for always being SO kind. Thank you for allowing US, to know and love Jimmy through YOU. Your kindness is what has made it possible. God bless you and your family and God bless James Dean. I have wanted to go to Fairmount since I was 16! I am now 46 and in 4 weeks, I will finally get my wish! :-) I hope to see the museum, and the farm and maybe even speak to Mr. Marcus if he's around the festival with that beautiful Ford.:-) Much Love to you all!

Wasn't it amazing? I went 18 years ago.
My son is now 22 and got diagnosed with bipolar. I am certain J.D. had that....similar from all the books I read. They even look alike. Jim had insomnia, irritability, moody, reckless, etc. Praying medication works for my son. :(

In the summer of '83, my parents, my little nephew, & I, were in Fairmount, Indiana. We were on vacation and I was a teenager, who wanted to be the next James Dean; red jacket, white t-shirt, jeans, and all. We met, by accident, Marylou Winslow, at a pharmacy there in Fairmount. My mom explained that we were in town to go to the Dean museum, but it was closed. Marylou said she could take care of that and she did. At the museum, I met Adeline Nall, James Dean's high school drama teacher. Mrs. Nall and I talked and she said that I reminded her of a young Marlon Brando, which wasn't too bad of a thing. Marylou Winslow, had us come out to the Winslow Farm, where she showed us Dean's hand and foot prints in the cement, which was covered by a piece of cardboard at the time. In the same small barn, sat a green, four door, '49 Ford, which she said, I believe, had been a high school graduation present to Dean, from Marcus and Ortense Winslow. I believe in your video, I saw it, inside with Marcus in the larger building, but it's since been painted red. I have a bunch of photo's from that day. We went into the Winslow home as well. It was fantastic. I'll never forget a moment of that trip, nor that visit with Marylou Winslow at the Winslow homestead. Marylou gave my little nephew a red motorcycle helmet, which belonged, I believe, to her son. My nephew, who died at just 29 years old, back in 2010, kept the helmet for many years. Today, both of my parents are gone as well, but my memories linger along with me, which I am very grateful for.

I used to pass Vic Damones home down here in South Florida every day for many years (and Stockard Channing's, which is right down the street) and occasionally he was at a local restaurant that we both favored. I always wanted to ask him about the James Dean story but never had the guts. By the way, this restaurant has a ton of memorabilia and many pictures of James Dean all over the place. I wonder how that affected Mr. Damones digestion LOL. By the way, this should have at least 1,000 "likes."

I knew the screenwriter of Rebel Without a Cause and he had some good Jimmie stories. When JD died he went to the funeral and stayed in JD bedroom. Also the famous peacoat that Jimmie wore in the New York pictures was his. He said Jimmie called and said he was going back to NY and needed to borrow a warm coat.

Two of my favs doing a cool interview. I have been following Scott around some he was just an internet page..eagerly waiting for the next awesome celebrity update. The website Faces of Death I think it was called. You should do some sort of vignette youtube on that. It was def part of my morbid satisfaction back in the day, so well written and interesting! Jordan you just showed up in my youtube thread a few years ago. I love your friendly style that makes fans feel part of your life. Way to control yourself and not pick up some concrete Scott! BLESS YOU BOTH! Maybe some day y'all will have your own memorial museums dedicated to your contributions.

Back in 1999 while studying Industrial Engineering and Statistics, I found a site that hosted these types of videos, but I cannot remember if it was TH-cam.
A company out of LA did research and analysis on car accidents and specifically in the area of road skid marks to determine what happened.
So based on the JD accident data, skid marks, and where both cars stopped after the accident, the company took this data and created a comparative analysis and their results was interesting.
They found that it was likely that Dean was travelling about 55 mph. In the computer analysis, because his car stopped at the telephone pole, 55 mph was highly likely. Had Dean been driving faster than 55, or slower than 55, his car would have stopped on either side of the telephone pole and missed it completely.

Mr.Michaels, I love your channel as you have great content. I know that you are a big fan of James Dean. I was wondering if you could possibly give us a video of his last apartment in L.A. I know that Jordan the Lion has covered it but maybe you can (if allowed) give us a view of inside his apartment over the garage. In addition, I understand that he still had a place in New York. Is there a way to find out if it still exists and maybe getting a video of this place?

I just visited. Impossible to find a place like this that has not been turned into crass commercialism. Fairmount is magical. How did the concrete get cracked? Refreshing that he is so chill and only concerned about respecting the legacy of Dean rather than money. A lot of the legend of Dean due to the fantastic photo work of Dennis Stock.

So, this home had been James Dean's (family ) home or did he buy this home and they inherited? Great video nice to see real stories being done instead of joining the many who have been talking the Chris Watts case just to gain revenue! Its totally ridiculous that most don't move on and actually refresh there channels by doing the real work it takes to cover content they feel subscribers would enjoy or gain insight . This was such a great experience for me and interview. Next time I’m in LA I will definitely do your tour. Your tours are so famous (I’m in Australia) I’m loving watching your videos. This reminded me how much I loved James Dean as a teenager (90’s) I had a life size image of him on my bedroom door. (Which at night used to scare my mum half to death every time coming up the stairs) The intrigue is how complex he seemed and of course just how good looking he was. Thank you to you all for the questions asked as they were exactly what I wanted to know as well. Thank you to Marcus for your time and the stories. I really want to go to that museum. Oh and if anyone knows how old James was when he put his prints in the barn, please let me know. They seemed small, no? Was he a teenager? 🌟🌟💕😘

Lynyrd Skynyrd memorial at the crash site. I don’t know why it so special… but the last person to walk on that carpet with his bare feet was Ronnie VanZant..

A odd thing..when I was around 11 years old I got knocked unconscious after school. I was in the nurse office. They kept asking me??my name ? I kept saying I am Dizzy. My head hurts. Finally my mom singed paperwork and said ok " Dizzy Dean " let's go ...( To the Dr)...I replied....no...I'm Jimmy "

Why the heck do people steel things like gravestones!?! Like a famous painting being stolen, one couldn't keep it on display for bragging rights. It would have to be a truly disturbed or just plane stupid person to even want something like that obtained illegally!

Scott, thank you for doing this. I truly enjoyed it and I still visit your site from time to time. Keep up the good work man. I thing I really liked was the pics of Jimmy and Marcus together. They seemed to be extremely close and I can only imagine the despair Marcus probably felt when Jimmy died. It seems to me both Marcus and Jimmy were really brothers. Again, great work.

As a licensed funeral director i always wondered if Kuehl's Funeral Home in Paso Robles, California performed restorative art for his viewing. i wish You would have asked his cousin Marcus if it was an open casket service at Hunt's Funeral Home in Fairmount.

@Thomas Crown - Years ago it was on a _TH-cam_ channel about professional cars ‐ mostly ambulances and hearses . I believe it was a Buick . Not sure who did the conversion.
Apparently it was authentic - but who really knows .... ?
