I never personally saw much point in going to space if we’re just going to build more ghettoes once we get there. (This is actually alluded to in the pilot episode, when the Canterbury’s first officer laments humanity’s failure to bring more light into the darkness.) But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
The only true way we'll explore the REAL expanse is to develop self-replicating biology that doesn't age, giving us in essence, immortality... Too bad we'll all be dead by then. 😅
I agree with Jaylene. As a hardcore trekkie, I too feel that The Expanse has left Star Trek in the dust. The only difference being that humanity is still in it's infancy and not warp drive capable. Still, to have the belt in our reach would be quite a feat.

I also am a Star Trek veteran and never thought any other science fiction program could match it. I have to admit though that the Expanse has gone above and beyond Star Trek. I love this theme too. There was a novella out originally called "Drive" about the Solomon Epstein drive. Part of it was included in one of the episodes and one of the books. Anyway Solomon Epstein is dying on board his space ship because he is unable to cut the drive but he realizes what his creation will mean to humanity. Even though he is dying, he is happy and pleased about what he has achieved. The last sentence is something like "Solomon relaxes and the expanse folds itself around him like a lover." I don't know if the authors thought of the book series title before or after they wrote that sentence but it was effective anyway. This theme will always remind people of this series.
@Jaylene I never read the books so when the series came out of nowhere I had to watch cause of so many people praising the Expanse on the Internet... And damn it blew me away! I mean the first season was kinda slow, as expected. But season 2 just skyrocket this sci-fi show on Star Trek niveau! And i loved the Epstein episode and his drive technology even though it was a bit sad. Neat little infos you stated about it. 👍
I wouldn't say it's gone above and beyond Star Trek. You're talking 54 years of history. I'd say The Expanse is more realistic depiction of the future of space
The thing I love about The Expanse is how space travel itself is such a big part of the story. You still get the politics and mystery, but it all centers around the difficulty of surviving in space. Shows like Star Trek sort of gloss over this by using plot devices like warp drives and gravity generators, replicators for food, etc to sort of bypass the whole issue of basic survival in space. In The Expanse, it's central to the narrative: water and air are hard won resources, acceleration can kill you, gravity comes only from thrust or spinning, and guns still shoot bullets. And on top of all that, you get a gripping storyline with plenty of conflict between Earthers, Martians, Belters, and evil corporations that experiment on... well... you gotta watch (or read, or both).
@MonkeyZorr Yes, exactly. I'm not saying that it's bad that Star Trek does that, just that it's a different kind of story telling. Star Trek is set in a much more distant future and it's a Utopia, where much of the Expanse resembles more of a Dystopia.
Ein weiteres Beispiel warum man die Menschheit nicht aufgeben sollte - solche künstlerische Schaffenskraft. Abgesehen davon das die Serie sehr gut ist.
I saw a video clip of The Expanse on TH-cam, so I decided to take a look. Watched the entire Season 1 through 5 in as many days. Can't wait for Season 6. This music makes my soul ache to explore the stars!
Really gets you into this magical space mindset. I feel like I have accelerated into the future and am seeing all of history collapse to this future. Great job whoever made this intro.
Like with ST (TOS, TNG, DS9, etc.) never skip the intro. Even after 5 seasons x 10 episodes, still moves me to tears. A perfect fit between music, lyrics and animation.

Though as long as the money is spent om something that _sounds_ good, I'm on board. Plenty of Norwegian language has already been butchered in black metal.. I came across the series The Expanse a few weeks ago and fell in love with the show and its characters. I have since been binging on the show catching up. I'm now in the 6th season and was deeply saddened to find that the show was canceled.
The best sci fi show in a very long time!! Definatly up there with the best of them like Babylon 5! Treats its audience with respect and not stupid people who are only interested in big explosions!
Clinton Shorter really made a masterpiece of thematic music here. I wish more people were aware of it. It would make him legendary. If he keeps up with this level of work, he will will be remembered in the pantheon of great modern composers as James Horner and John Williams will.
I remember watching this show when I was in a dark place unemployed. This show helped me through those times, this show is perfect to watch in a dark room at night
This is what an intro is supposed to do: set you in the right mood and get you ready to experience the show. This does exactly that and more. Best title intro since Game of Thrones intro.

Finding this extended version has been magical! It's clear that this intro (and show) moves a lot of people and is truly special. It's beautiful that so many of us connect to it!
In all honestly I believe the expanse is probably one of the best sci-fi produced. I give big credit to Frankie for this! Frankie if you ever read this - thumbs up girl, you the best.
I came here to listen to beautiful music and find fellow Trekkies giving this show some love. I am very impressed by it and desperately needed a sequel to the ST universe that gave off the same well-written vibes.
Best part is it has actual real life science and physics where as nearly every other sci-fi series doesn't and just uses sci-fi instead of the current and real tech
I'm on season 5 ep 4 and man am I hoping Bobbie doesn't die. She's a big momma I want her to hold me. 🤣 but yeah I'm glad I gave this show a chance. It's one of the best scifi shows I've ever seen.
Luckily it is owned by amazon and I'm pretty sure it will never be sold to the evil mouse. Unless it gets so big that it will span multiple spin-offs across a number of decades. Who knows what'll happen in that. Anyway apparently bezos is a fan
I honestly believe that if we were to encounter alien life it would be in a similar way for sure. If any new knowledge that lead to new technology was found in outer space it would be years before the general public knows this is why I think The writers creators and producers of the show, The Expanse, have the best quality imaginations ever. I mean I’ve watched this entire series about nine times maybe 10 and I am always impressed by the set up of the future, how it feels so accurate the set up of the ships the governing bodies the politics everything about this show is a must see for everyone, tho most people will be lost in the science of it all.
Best (Show) Theme ever. It’s sorta haunting mixed with sadness. Well, I mean it certainly reflects all the terrible things that _always_ happen in the show. Humanity is such a mess.
I absolutely adore this title theme. I also concur with my fellow commenter, about how it would be almost sacrilege to skip lol. This TV show started as a idea for a MMO RPG and then James S. A. Corey AKA Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck wrote the books. The accuracy behind the understanding of physics is amazing. A true testament of original and broad ideas. This is our future. Just need to crack the Epstein drive.

One of the reasons I love The Expanse is due to it's lack of any sort of 'agenda-pushing', like newer Star Trek and Star Wars shows unfortunately have (except the Mandalorian)... The expanse has a multitude of interesting, well written characters which are portrayed by a wonderfully diverse cast of competent individuals. At no point are we left feeling that real-world struggles are forced on the viewer, simply because the writer/director wants to prove a point or display their own agenda, yet we still experience these naturally through the struggle between the poor Belters and the comparatively rich 'Inners'. The Expanse truly is a breath of fresh air in modern cinema.
@@mintgardener I'd disagree. All the characters are well written and well developed. They all feel as if they belong in that setting. At no point am I thinking: "yep, she/he's only there because the director is trying to fill a quota". A show that isn't like this is Star Trek discovery, where everything feels so unnatural and forced.
Haven't seen Discovery but I would rank Babylon 5 and BSG tied above everything else except the expanse of course. And while we're at it, you might as well put the star wars sequels beneath Discovery.
battlestar galactica, babylon 5 and the expanse are the 3 greatest scifis ever made, starwars and startrek are good but they are no where near the best 3
My favourite series! Though I hope in the next seasons they go a bit deeper in the personal connections and small details as happened in the first 3 seasons. I came across the series The Expanse a few weeks ago and fell in love with the show and its characters. I have since been binging on the show catching up. I'm now in the 6th season and was deeply saddened to find that the show was canceled.
Feel your pain😢
Finished the show not long ago and already miss it. This theme is my current ringtone. Live on Rocinante!
Sounds Great 👍
Screaming firehawks or donkey balls
Took me 3 attempts, over 2 years, and nearly the full first season to finally get hooked. So worth it.
I don't respect anyone who dares to skip this intro
The best sci fi show in a very long time!! Definatly up there with the best of them like Babylon 5! Treats its audience with respect and not stupid people who are only interested in big explosions!
I really liked bab5!
The Expanse, Firefly and Bab 5 are the best tv ever made.
Clinton Shorter really made a masterpiece of thematic music here. I wish more people were aware of it. It would make him legendary. If he keeps up with this level of work, he will will be remembered in the pantheon of great modern composers as James Horner and John Williams will.
One of the best shows! Books are great.
I remember watching this show when I was in a dark place unemployed. This show helped me through those times, this show is perfect to watch in a dark room at night
Certainly in the top three show soundtracks for me, I've quit skipping the introductions because of it. Very fantastic show.
This is what an intro is supposed to do: set you in the right mood and get you ready to experience the show. This does exactly that and more. Best title intro since Game of Thrones intro.
One of the best intro themes out there. I love how they use the intro's to flesh out exposition. Smart move.
I can't be the only one that sees flashes of a thousand lifetimes in a thousand different universes every time I close my eyes and hear this song...it leaves me completely disoriented and awe struck ...
Try also Thomas Bergensen's Final Frontier. Same feeling.
@@gavrifalcao Awesome suggestion! Bergensen never ceases to stun me, I keep trying to sculpt while listening to his music because it's so inspiring, but it's useless, I always end up just sitting there daydreaming instead.
This show should be as popular as something like Game of Thrones was, criminally underrated
The thought of our species cohabiting another planet gives me the absolute chills! But in a good warming way
Nothing in the void is foreign to us, the place we go is the place we belong. - Camina Drummer
This intro gives me chills it's amazing
Doddamn it, I love this theme. The first time I saw the expanse intro I was IMMEDIATELY hooked
It is a very beautiful space story. Truly outstanding serie and its main theme is perfect.
The new only sci-fi show theme that made me feel like humans should be in space by now.
Amazon: Click to Skip Intro
Me: Never
Please don't cancel this show 😥
It won't be canceled after season 6, just paused. Don't want to spoil from the books but there is a timeline jump or gap between book 7 and 9. So see it as a pause a kind of like a new arc :D
@@Tezhan_29A are the books any good and is it pretty much the same as what's going on in the tv series with the protomolicule and all characters?
Awesome music! Never skip!
Haha indeed
The show has entered my top list of great space operas/adventure collection with ST/B5/BSG/SG and SW.
Yeah a fine Addition to a fine Scify list 👍
This theme is What You Call short and sweet .. it's like like your favorite snack ... you want it All the time.
It's by Clinton Shorter (and Sweeter)
It just isn't a show, a glimpse into the future
I can't wait till December! The best, the one and only.
You can almost bath in this music. It literally feels like its washing over you.
perfect timing, i needed a bath
bathe, but yes
@The HoochGoblin "We have bearly waded ankle deep on the shores of the Cosmic ocean" Carl Sagan.
Never Ending Goosebumps!
True! 🤘
The intro to this show gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it, and I listen to it A LOT haha. It just tugs on some deep human emotions I feel like.
Great series... a song of mystery, marvell, serenity and much more.... 😊 something between Enigma and Vangelis I think...
Love it!
Apparently, it's gibberish. It's supposed to be Norwegian. But a Norwegian on Quora said the words make no sense when they are spoken like that.
best surround experience i have with expanse..thank you for the trip✌
This show is such a banger I swear
Listening to this gets me so excited for every new episode. Its like the begining of watching a star wars film and hearing the intro and not knowing what to expect, just the excitement.
This show gives me hope that they could do justice to a Mass Effect T.V show.
That would actually be lit.
Yeah you're right, they can. All it takes is a team of people with heart and respect for the original content they're using.
Listening to this intro while smoking DMT (my way of connecting with my spirituality) is an intensely emotional experience. There are no words, really, to describe it.
Too bad Discovery and Picard dropped the ball.
@@Sacrilege83 Listen if you go into them to enjoy the nostalgia of the characters/universe it's so much less painful. That being said yes I agree LOL
Me Trekkie too, bossmang. Love the Expanse, too, ke.
Best part is it has actual real life science and physics where as nearly every other sci-fi series doesn't and just uses sci-fi instead of the current and real tech
@@stratoreyener461 Absolutely, it feels closer to home and therefore more relatable. It's less mystical and more grounded so to speak.
Never missed this intro. Watched the show again and again. It is so real and for so many years, there is no better one.
Same here 👍
I'm on season 5 ep 4 and man am I hoping Bobbie doesn't die. She's a big momma I want her to hold me. 🤣 but yeah I'm glad I gave this show a chance. It's one of the best scifi shows I've ever seen.
it reaches out. it reaches out. it reaches out. 113 times a second.
it reaches out
Great intro, great series. I agree with many below: Best sci-fi production yet. 😀
Exactly what i needed!!
what a great show cannot wait for season 6
What an amazing show this was! And a perfect ending!
As intro starts playing, for me it feels I'm getting set to watch future, and that how we humans are so little in grand scheme of things.
Eyy malayalis
Someday this is gonna be so huge, it's probably gonna be bought by Disney.
Better not give them any ideas haha
Luckily it is owned by amazon and I'm pretty sure it will never be sold to the evil mouse. Unless it gets so big that it will span multiple spin-offs across a number of decades. Who knows what'll happen in that. Anyway apparently bezos is a fan
If disney ruins this I will have to get nuts.
@@rpach3023 Disney ruins shit, like marvel has a good track record with a few bumps, but almost all live action properties by Disney is garbage.
luckily bezos has it
The Expanse is the best series ever
I think I heard the intro music around 500 times
Ah, the most ultra realistic sci fi action\drama i ever saw, this show deserves such intro
The show just ended and I feel like I'm floating out into the void of space with no tether...
The caracthers and the events are the ones that makes this seires beautifull and perfect. But this song is the key to our memories.
His Dark Materials, Medici, Succession and now this... These video soundtracks are really coming I’ll
Listening to this at 2am with good headphones makes me wanna cry
❤
I Love the show and the theme tune. Both are so original and different.
Ich Gründe das loconische imperium wenn die Ringtore entdeckt werden, und werde Herrscher der Menschheit auf dem blaugoldenen Protomolekülthron .🤣😂
Please feel free to leave a like or sub if you liked what you heard...
As a Star Trek veteran i just have to admit that The Expanse is amazing!
Edit: Damn Thanks for OVER
300 000! views! Crazy!
Now Just Go and Watch season 6 Like I will do 👍
It's better than Star Trek 🔥
Thank you!!! I love this song and I wanted exactly that..10 minuts is perfect..
@@nelsonbarragantejera7049 your Welcome!
Can't wait for season 5 👍
Season 5 is so great again! Maybe you like my special version of the title song: th-cam.com/video/fwO5hAwg5jI/w-d-xo.html
The Expanse truly is a breath of fresh air in modern cinema.
lots of forced diversity pushing, to a distracting amount, but beyond that, fully agree
Even the mandalorian is milking "OMG CUTE BABY YODA"
@@mintgardener why are there so many of you?
@@mkay3751 I watch a lot of youtube what can I say?
The Expanse > BSG/DS9 > TNG > Babylon > Garbage > less then garbage > Star Trek Discovery.
As a star trek fan. i can't say i was offended😪
Haven't seen Discovery but I would rank Babylon 5 and BSG tied above everything else except the expanse of course. And while we're at it, you might as well put the star wars sequels beneath Discovery.
BattleStar Galactica, the TV-series that changed my life, the ending summed up this masterpiece in the best way posssible
I love The Expanse, BSG, and DS9, and, of course, Firefly.
battlestar galactica, babylon 5 and the expanse are the 3 greatest scifis ever made, starwars and startrek are good but they are no where near the best 3
I miss this show so much, no other scifi compares
FWIW, Babylon 5 and Firefly are right up there with The Expanse.
The best sci-fi in history.
My favourite series! Though I hope in the next seasons they go a bit deeper in the personal connections and small details as happened in the first 3 seasons. Epic scenes feel more epic with the right contrast between a personal perspective and the vast possible outcomes of the historical happenings in the film. Keep up doing this amazing series!
The best Sci-Fi ever.... most realistic to our future❤️
Waiting for season 6🤗
I couldn't agree more. This show has in my opinion set a benchmark for any future scfi shows. The realism, the design, all of it is damn near perfect.
Das Lied berührt die Seele zutiefst ... Dankeschön ❤️
Bitte sehr.... Und ja, das empfinde ich auch so xD
Ich habe keine Seele, aber das Lied feier ich auch. Deshalb gucke ich the expanse immer dreimal lauter als nötig. 🤣
