Thanks all for the kind words about Keiths layout, he's been very pleased to read them too. Keep your eye on the channel over the festive period for an extended cut and more details about the layout!

One of the most enjoyable model railway videos I've seen in ages. It's just great to see someone's imagination run riot. Can we have some more please😁

Excellent camera viewpoints and moving action shots of the trains in motion. Best model railway video I've seen.

Great to see something different and from an individual's imagination, using their own approach to please themselves. I loved it.

Utterly superb!!! The only thing to add is that you seem to have a massive loft!!! Assume the floor has been strengthend.

Stunning layout, and inspiring sections - planning on similar smaller scale myself so very useful to see this. Would be good to hear more about how Keith developed the plan and the way he has worked out the hinged boards - this is quite special! Thanks for sharing it.

I can't remember ever seeing train-to-train perspectives like this. What a wonderful way to view a great layout.

    REALISTIC TRACK COLOUR !
One point ! Railway track until the abolition of steam, classic brake blocks and toilet outfall, meant ALL track quickly went a "dirty brown colour", up until around 2005 ! Further white coloured ballast is also a modern occurrence, due to classic grey ballast sources being virtually exhausted. All this being usually referred to in modelling as "Track Colour" or "Sleeper Grime", by the two railway paint specialists "Precision Paints" & "Railmatch". This later available from that well known model shop Howes of Oxford, who produce the "Railmatch" range. Both manufacturers make the suitable track colour paint in Spray Can, or "Brush on" formats. Indeed on a busy mainline, nice new grey ballast would begin to go brown within just a few weeks of being laid.

Printed backdrops work extremely well on this layout, was expecting to see an 03 or 08 working away in the background

Excellent, thanks for posting. In NO way a criticism, as I face the same dilemma on my build of a large "N" gauge railway in a 17 foot by 10 foot space, but I note a distinct absence of signalling. I'd be interested to know what the reasoning was to progress so far (and so well) without it, and what the plans are for the future.

Yes, there is wiring under baseboard for signals, but not done yet. It is not in a loft. And my name is Murdoch, not with a k, any chance of changing it? The copy of the video I gave to 4KAM included shots of how the cameras were mounted onto trucks. They seem to have deleted it, no idea why as they never discussed it with me. It was a surprise to see it on this site. Thanks for showing it.

Hi Keith. Your layout is quite extraordinary. Can you tell us some more about it? I think everyone will be curious to know how long it took you to build - man-hours and passage of time - and whether you have done it all yourself or have some 'worker bees' to help? Total track length? Number of points/switches employed?
To read above that it will one day also include signalling equipment as well - how much longer will that take you? And how many signals will it require??
I look forward to finding the 'in depth look' that the pinned top comment says is coming.
      Thanks for sharing your world!
