My jaw dropped when dark mode was engaged at 7:20. Brilliant colour choice and the wallpaper transition was a very cool touch.

This should be released as a shell for W11. I think alot of older people that can't find their ways in the new OS would very much like to have it look like this.

XP was my favourite OS. If was still supported I would still be using it. It even included an easy to use video editor that was basic but did all I wanted. I bet it would run really well on modern hardware too.

Thats why they wont. When did you see good concept from Microsoft? Windows 7 era? And every good thing from Microsoft is gone. I like Windows, i prefer Windows, but it has ads nowadays, built-in ads. Windows can look and feel good if Microsoft want to. But they are lazy people.

All what is happening here is replacing from old to custom. And changing 2 criteria. But the main service pack of win xp still the same and solid. What you saw on the desktop is just replacing of 4 files and edit animations.
@@user-kt8kv6pn9tBullshit - I much prefer the old layout in a new timeframe. I’m 20, grew up with this stuff (not shitty AI) so prefer the simple layout and nice noises of the older OSs. Have a 2010 MacBook Pro, a 2003 Compaq and a nice PC with Win11 and must say… the 03 Compaq is by far the most practical with an SSD.

Windows XP will always be my favorite version of Windows, because it had great music for the installation setup and tour. It even had memorable sound effects, especially the error sound.
This concept for a modern day version, while keeping that same energy as the original is impressive. You did a great job on it.

Windows XP nostalgia
Windows XP sucked ass until SP3 came out and fixed a lot of the issues with it. Windows 7 was the best OS they have ever put out. Windows 10 and 11 track your every move and are resource hogs forcing you to upgrade just to run it properly. Windows 11 drops your performance as soon as it's installed!

While I love Windows XP, I think the Windows that we NEED today should be a culmination of everything loved by each version.
Completely and utterly remove advertisements, tracking/telemetry, forced M$ account, and forced updates.
Make every feature optional/toggle. Give full user control & customization. No pre-installed apps.
Then, for me personally, take some loved features from different versions and remaster them (off the top of my head, I can't think of everything atm):
From Windows XP:
- Simplistic navigation throughout the OS & Explorer
- Luna theme & Royale theme
- Media Center
- "Classic" logon dialog
- "Classic" start menu
From Windows Vista:
- Windows Aero & Aero Glass UI (beautiful translucency and UI effects)
From Windows 11:
- Dark Mode
- Enhanced Notepad
Additionally, harden the OS internals significantly; And require a more Linux-like approach for changing some of the more "dangerous" system internals.
Completely isolate and "jail" applications separate from the OS into their own virtualized containers.
Overall making: A beautiful OS that's customizable, doesn't nag or annoy the user, doesn't make the user feel watched - and overall providing a better sense of security.
I must say I absolutely love how elegantly you have done the settings in this video. They way it combines modern categories and legacy control panel settings is awesome. ❤ That's something Microsoft can't figure out for more than a decade.

I wish this were real real. It's funny picking up on little Unix things along the way.
Some things like the smooth animations make me feel like they shouldn't exist (I used to turn off all eye candy to get things running faster lol) but then I have to ask myself if they would exist in a modern version.

@@jadhal6649 pretty certain this is a reskinned Linux distribution. You can tell by the partition selector and language selection screens. These are common among Linux distributions. These UIs already exist.
This was so nice. I've installed XP so many times that I had learned the serial code by heart. Seeing it again now, brought nice memories...those were the times.

Hahaha, I remember memorizing it rm233, 2prqq.... , it was easy to install Windows those days. Dump the entire folder in drive c using DOS, run setup from there, if it ever crashes, run it again from same location. Damn, nostalgic feelings here

I simply loved this OS. As a cog in my university department's IT structure, I built labs for graduate students and a program's research center (this was all from scratch). My first 40 or so boxes were loaded with Win NT and the system was on its own Active Directory server. When XP launched, everything except the servers were reinstalled with it. The change for the ordinary person in terms of stability over Win98 was tremendous. I rode this OS personally until moving to Win7 was not an option anymore. XP was one of M$ best accomplishments, all the way through SP3. I can still remember the serial code that came with our site license...

I'd love this for Windows7 personally... I use Win10 but I've installed a few things to make it more like Win7.
But I used XP from it's inception to when Win7 came out. So I'd prolly feel right at home too !

An XP theme for windows 10
you can make windows 10 look like windows xp with a custom taskbar, start menu and start button with classic-shell or power-shell
Also.... the only REAL way this could be faked would to either animate all of this or program it in something like Flash or Java.... still far more efforet than your ill-fated comment with zero proof or thought!
Why? 10 is many times better. I don't miss a single bit from XP.
Knowing this is just a concept video, i do hope this becomes a thing in the near future. This looks like it would make an amazing OS.

I couldn't stop watching this! lol. I also sat here with a huge smile on my face with the happy memories of using XP for years. (Also Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Millennium, and Windows 2000). XP wasn't amazing at the beginning until they sorted out tons of bugs, then it was great after that. Also had copies of Windows Whistler (XP Test releases) before XP come out. It was all pretty exciting back then. Ahhh.. the memories. lol

What I loved most about XP was the modding community and personalization, you really felt like you owned the OS not everyone understands that.
Recent revisions just seemed redundant layered UI over the old and bloatware

Superb presentation, modernized and with smooth screen moves, we see clearly what is happening. Good to see the lovely little dog Rover searching things for us, always smiling ;-) No wonder that XP is still the preferred operating system Microsoft ever made.

WOW! ... If Microsoft were to release this version of Windows XP, it would be AWESOME! Windows XP was the BEST operating system EVER made! Ever since then, Microsoft has been trying to reinvent the wheel rather than just acknowledging the circle was perfectly round with Windows XP. Microsoft did the same thing with Xbox. Microsoft had everything perfect with Xbox 360. But afterwards, Microsoft ruined everything.
When I used Windows XP, I was so much more productive with computer, its was best experience

This video is a work of art. Man I miss those days! I still have the Photo Suite 4 installation disks that came with my new Windows XP computer. I loved that old program. It would run on Windows 7 but not great. Anyway, when I saw this video I actually got excited for a brief moment... I knew it was too good to be true. I gotta say though, dark theme looks amazing! Today I have Windows XP nostalgia. To this day I think it's the best looking operating systeem, macOS included. It always looked so fresh, clean and modern. And now you've given it a 2024 reboot! It looks stunning.

This is the Windows I wanna have: it is clean, it is simple, it is modern and gives this feeling of reliability. The only thing I miss is W11 StartMenu. The new one is easier to access and work with.
I will agree. I think if Windows XP comes back. It should be an option. There should be a mainstream OS like Windows versions 12-20 that changes every 3 years and one OS that looks similar and doesn't get many UI changes like how AR4789 did in this really awesome looking concept. He infused the modern look of newer Windows OS like W11 but somehow managed to keep the same design as original XP. I would think that this "New XP" would get many new features and security updates instead, the only thing I really didn't like with this concept is the boot screen with the blue boxes as the loading for it. It just looks really old and i think it would look better with a black screen with a white line that moves to the left and disappears and reappears at the right. I also didn't like the "what do you want to search for?" and think it would look more like a new xp with copilot at the bottom instead of that darn dog that was super hard to use when windows xp came out. I really liked the implementation of the dark mode and how AR4789 made bliss turn to night on dark mode.

I would pay a lot if windows would let us the consumer choose which version of windows we want to use but instead it’s another thing that Microsoft has full control over. If at least 50% of windows users switched over to Linux just for a month or two and tell Microsoft that we are not using your windows anymore unless you let us choose which version we want to use they would do it immediately because they will be loosing millions of dollars a day.
The fact there was times where I wasn't sure if this was an animation or not speaks volumes about how immaculately you've pulled this off! Here's hoping one day it becomes a reality!

The concept is so damn sick dude. I love how it mixes the nostalgia of XP With modern elements that make it better. I imagined windows to do that i dont hate the current os but this gives me more of "my computer" vibe if you get what i mean. Amazing concept man.

have to admit while it fired up and the home screen came back up I was back at work from my homebased business and just getting this 'new' system in my new top line DELL... I was diggin life!
Did anyone notice that in setup it said 2 tb space and in windows it said 1 tb and 125 gb were already full dust with windows. But great work. Did a really good job 👍🏽

Man, I forgot how much I loved that setup music! The “Out of Box Experience”.
I remember back around 2005 I set up a new PC for an old lady and she was so mesmerised by the setup music, she just wanted to keep hearing it. As much as I tried hard to find a .wav or any other audio file in the setup CD, I wasn't able to fulfill her request. But the occasion was unforgettable. I doubt that woman would be alive anymore.

Wow, this is awesome what you did. We really need to create a petition to Microsoft Windows to bring back these legendary Windows XP back into the market. This was a wonderful stuff way back in the 2000s when I was a kid. Now, this is nostalgia right here.
I will gladly pay for this OS, or if it's a shell for Windows 11. Amazing work my friend.

We never needed windows 8 or 10 or 11. A modern windows XP is all we needed. This looks so cool and microsoft should create this just like they are doing with their Age of Empires series.

I do miss the XP, just like MS Office from before the ‘ribbon’. Everything was working so beautifully, it was quick and functional. Smal programs were very capable. The key combinations made it almost unnecessary to leave the keyboard. Then, with all the ‘safety updates’, and patches over patches everything good went down the drain. The lower memory and data transmission costs led to wastefulness of resources and everything blew up in huge superficial polished bloated ‘perfection’, whilst quality, well thought through, almost philosophical and spiritually sound solutions practically became the new sin. Aha, it’s time for the geeks, nerds, the analysing believers (a bit like me as well probably 😊) to take the reins again.
