      The majority of Taiwanese are classified as Chinese or "Han Chinese/Han people" as some Chinese like to proudly flaunt themselves.
      The majority are settlers from the Chinese mainland (China). There are only a very small number of "native Taiwanese" that are mostly compromised from people from a mix of Mongolian, Polynesian, Japanese ethnic group and so on which are only a minority to the rest of the Taiwanese population.

    • @chowruoxuan4409
      @chowruoxuan4409 6 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @Ao Chen actually some Chinese people despise Taiwanese people for being Taiwanese and uh betraying their kind or something. I'm from Taiwan and my Taiwanese teacher taught Chinese in America for a year. She had this Chinese co-worker that always got mad when she saw her in the room, claiming that Taiwanese people don't deserve to teach Chinese or something, forcing my teacher to have to always leave the room as the Chinese person came into the office to avoid drama.
      It's very sad. But good thing most Chinese aren't like that. I have a friend who moved to Taiwan from China and she is a very nice person.
      Just an extra note the fact that the "Chinese girlfriend " is played by a Taiwanese actor makes me so proud, it's cheesy.
      The reason Taiwanese don't like being grouped with China is partially because China likes to ruin our national relationships and cock block us from joining the UN or the Paris agreement. China wants the world to acknowledge us as not a country in a way, so we can be part of China again. there wasn't really a clean break or clarification of Taiwan being it's own country or not, despite it basically being one. The tension isn't as bad anymore since noone really cares too much but our current president, tsai ing wen, is one of those anti China control activists, so who knows.

      Chow Ruo Xuan Please keep in mind it's the authoritarian CCP government that's doing all these evil things to Taiwan. They are not elected by its people and they do not represent Chinese people. I'm from China and I do not condone what CCP does. And there are many overseas Chinese with me. Sadly though, many people in China support this illegitimate government due to lack of access to information or stupidity. Long live the Republic Of China!🇹🇼 (Though many young Taiwanese want to get rid of ROC)

I understand the principle of it yes, your dragging dirt into your house. But, If a family consistently makes sure their floor is cleaning by mopping it regularly then how is disgusting. If we make sure to clean up after ourselves properly then how is it disgusting. It only is disgusting if you live in filth. Understand that people may live differently from you.

      Why? In all my life, I don't think I've ever been in more than maybe 2 or 3 homes where that wasn't the norm. I'm surprised because I keep seeing comments from other countries saying "it's an American thing" to leave shoes on in the house, when it definitely isn't lol. I've never even seen someone ask, because it's just understood that it's the right thing to do.

      I personally view as taking your shoes off disgusting. The inside of your shoes are somewhat dirty.
      Keep them on. But it goes for households. So if the houseowners have them off, ask. If they don't, keep them on.
